I shall recite to you, O foremost of kings, the story of what happened to an ancient king of the name of Hayagriva, O son of Pandu,the story of the heroic Hayagriva of unsullied deeds, who after having killed a host of enemies in battle, was himself defeated and killed while without a follower by his side.
