Sūta said: The lord offered them fearlessness saying “I shall kill him.” Indra bowed to the lord along with Devas. Lord Brahmā and Devas returned to their homes. Soon after Mahādeva assumed the form of a Śarabha and approached the haughty Man-lion. The lord in the form of Śarabha took away his life and was worshipped by Devas. From the form of a lion Viṣṇu assumed his original form and went away gradually. The lord too who was thus eulogised by Devas went away.
