Sūta said: Then hundreds of Śiddhas who were devotees of Paśupati, who were white by being bathed in ashes, who were great souls devoted to Maheśvara and who invariably observed holy rites came there and bowed down to Maheśvara. They then observed the lord of the yogas and adopted Dhyānayoga (path of meditation) assiduously. They took to the support of the Atman and stationed themselves as though they would merge into Maheśvara. Even as they stood by, the consort of Umā, the lord of Devas, the lord Puruṣa assumed the greatest of his physical forms. He stood as though towards the close of the worlds in order to make the entire universe present in one place. With hairs standing on their ends due to her delight, the daughter of the lord of the mountains could not look at the lord of the universe who had assumed the greatest of his physical forms.
