The Sraddha at the time of Sariikranti (tropical transit of the sun) as well as on birthdays is of everlasting benefit. It is so particularly in all the Naksatras (constella¬ tions) and must be performed at the proper time.^ Itwas to be performed after Pitr~ya}ha by an Agni-hotrin on the Amavasya day(ManuIII. 122-123). This funeral sacrifice is not now in vogue among^ the Agnihotris in the Deccan.
