The nurse said:: Abhijit was his son and from him was born Punarvasu. The excellent king performed a horse-sacrifice for obtaining a son. In the course of the holy rite of Atirātra, Punarvasu was born from the midst of assembly. Therefore, he became later on a great scholar, a liberal donor, a performer of sacrifices and one conversant with piety and virtue.
