Vasiṣṭha said: The holy rites duly mentioned in the scriptures regarding Mantras (Holy words) and Tantras (esoteric gestures) were performed everywhere. The sun which appeared like blazing fire was rising up with dazzling splendour. It dispelled darkness. It covered the entire quarters and the earth (with light) and the darkness of the night perished.
