Vasiṣṭha said:: Devoted to the practice of Pratyāhāra (withdrawing the sense-organs from external stimulii, sensual feelings and objects), he controlled the sense-organs. Self-possessed that he was, he could stabilise the usually unsteady mind by means of Dhāraṇā (Retention of perception of the supreme deity).
