त्रैलोक्यस्या धिपत्यं हि दानेनैव ध्रुवं स्थितम। अराजा लभते राज्यमधनश्चोत्तमं धनम। क्षीणायुर्लभते चायुः पितृभक्तः सदा नरः।।
trailokyasyā dhipatyaṃ hi dānenaiva dhruvaṃ sthitam| arājā labhate rājyamadhanaścottamaṃ dhanam| kṣīṇāyurlabhate cāyuḥ pitṛbhaktaḥ sadā naraḥ||
Bṛhaspati said:: One shall be happy by offering three or two or even one charitable gift. Charitable gifts are considered of the greatest virtue. It is honoured and respected by good people. The overlordship of all the three worlds is certainly available through Dana. A non-king obtains kingdom. A man without wealth obtains excellent wealth. A man devoted to the Pitṛs always regains his lost longevity.
