रुद्रस्तोत्रम्
This Rudra Stotram is traditionally presented as a hymn offered by Krishna and Arjuna to Lord Shiva. It praises Shiva through a long garland of epithets such as Bhava, Sharva, Rudra, Mahadeva, Tryambaka, Pinaki, and Shankara, and is recited as a powerful Shaiva prayer for grace, protection, and fulfillment.
यह रुद्र स्तोत्र परम्परा में श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुन द्वारा भगवान शिव की स्तुति के रूप में माना जाता है। इसमें शिव के भव, शर्व, रुद्र, महादेव, त्र्यम्बक, पिनाकी और शंकर आदि अनेक नामों का स्तवन है, और इसे कृपा, रक्षा तथा सिद्धि के लिए पढ़ा जाता है।
नमो भवाय शर्वाय रुद्राय वरदाय च । पशूनां पतये नित्यमुग्राय च कपर्दिने ॥
Translation
Salutations to Bhava, Sharva, Rudra, and the bestower of boons; salutations always to the Lord of beings, the fierce one, the matted-haired Lord.
महादेवाय भीमाय त्र्यम्बकाय च शान्तये । ईशानाय मखघ्नाय नमोऽस्त्वन्धकघातिने ॥
Translation
Salutations to Mahadeva, to the terrible one, to the three-eyed Lord, to the peaceful one; salutations to Ishana, the destroyer of sacrifice, the slayer of Andhaka.
कुमारगुरवे तुभ्यं नीलग्रीवाय वेधसे । पिनाकिने हविषाय सत्याय विभवे सदा ॥
Translation
Obeisance to the teacher of Kumara, the blue-throated creator, the bearer of Pinaka, the receiver of oblations, the truthful and glorious Lord.
विलोहिताय धूम्राय व्याधायानपराजिते । नित्यं नीलशिखण्डाय शूलिने दिव्यचक्षुषे ॥
Translation
Salutations to the reddish and smoky-hued Lord, the hunter, the unconquered one, the trident-bearing Lord of divine vision.
होत्रे पोत्रे त्रिनेत्राय व्याधाय वसुरेतसे । अचिन्त्यायाम्बिकाभर्त्रे सर्वदेवस्तुताय च ॥
Translation
Salutations to the divine priest, purifier, three-eyed Lord, the mysterious hunter, the spouse of Ambika, praised by all the gods.
वृषध्वजाय मुण्डाय जटिने ब्रह्मचारिणे । तप्यमानाय सलिले ब्रह्मण्यायाजिताय च ॥
Translation
Salutations to the bull-bannered Lord, the matted-haired ascetic, the brahmacharin, the protector of sacred wisdom, the unconquered one.
विश्वात्मने विश्वसृजे विश्वमावृत्य तिष्ठते । नमो नमस्ते सेव्याय भूतानां प्रभवे सदा ॥
Translation
Repeated salutations to the soul and creator of the universe, who pervades all existence and is forever the source of all beings.
ब्रह्मवक्त्राय सर्वाय शङ्कराय शिवाय च । नमोऽस्तु वाचस्पतये प्रजानां पतये नमः ॥
Translation
Salutations to the all-pervading Shankara, to Shiva, to the lord of speech, and to the lord of all beings.
अभिगम्याय काम्याय स्तुत्यायार्याय सर्वदा । नमोऽस्तु देवदेवाय महाभूतधराय च ॥ नमो विश्वस्य पतये पत्तीनां पतये नमः ॥
Translation
Salutations always to the approachable, desirable, and praiseworthy Lord, the God of gods, the support of the great elements, the lord of the universe.
नमो विश्वस्य पतये महतां पतये नमः । नमः सहस्रशिरसे सहस्रभुजमृत्यवे ॥ सहस्रनेत्रपादाय नमोऽसङ्ख्येयकर्मणे ॥
Translation
Salutations to the lord of the universe and of the great ones, to the thousand-headed Lord, the one with countless forms, eyes, feet, and immeasurable actions.
नमो हिरण्यवर्णाय हिरण्यकवचाय च । भक्तानुकम्पिने नित्यं सिद्ध्यतां नो वरः प्रभो ॥
Translation
Salutations to the golden-hued, golden-armored Lord, ever compassionate toward devotees. O Lord, may our boon be fulfilled.
एवं स्तुत्वा महादेवं वासुदेवः सहार्जुनः । प्रसादयामास भवं तदा ह्यस्त्रोपलब्धये ॥
Translation
Thus Vasudeva and Arjuna praised Mahadeva and propitiated Lord Shiva for the attainment of divine weapons.
