Namaste rudra manyava'uto ta'iṣave namaḥ. Bāhubhyāmuta te namaḥ.
Salutations to thee, Rudra, the formidable; salutations to that awe-inspiring one. Salutations to thy arms.

Yā te rudra śivā tanūuraghorā 'pāpakāśinī. Tayā nastanvā śantamayā giriśantābhi cākaśīhi.
May that Rudra of thine, gentle and terrible, dispeller of sins, by her (the gentle one) may we be made peaceful; by the serene mountain and by the heaven’s tranquiller stars.

यामिषुं गिरिशन्त हस्ते बिभर्ष्यस्तवे। शिवां गिरित्र तं कुरु म हिंम्सीः पुरुषं जगत।
Yāmiṣu≈ giriśanta haste bibharṣyastave. ›ivā≈ giritra ta≈ kuru ma hi|msīḥ puruṣa≈ jagat.
In whose mighty hand the mountain-bearing ones will bear thee. Make that auspicious axe, do not harm the being of the world.

शिवेन वचसा त्वा गिरिशाच्छा वदामसि। यथा नः सर्वमिज्जगदयक्ष्मंम सुमनाऽअसत।
›ivena vacasā tvā giriśācchā vadāmasi. Yathā naḥ sarvamijjagadayakṣma|m sumanā'asat.
With auspicious speech we speak of thee, O mountain-lord. As thou didst make all our realm uninjured, so be compassionate with kind mind.

आध्यवोचदधिवक्ता प्रथमो दैव्यो भिषक। आहीं न श्च सर्वाञ जम्भयन्त्सर्वास्च यातुधान्योऽ धराचीः परासुव।
ādhyavocadadhivaktā prathamo daivyo bhiṣak. āhī| n śca sarvā¤ jambhayantsarvāsca yātudhānyo' dharācīḥ parāsuva.
The first speaker, the divine physician, spoke the invocation: not even all (enemies) could terrorize, nor the monsters, nor the foes that bring down the earth.

आसौ यस्ताम्रोऽअरुणऽउत बभ्रुः सुमङ्गलः ये चैनंम रुद्राऽअभितो दिक्षु श्रिताः सहस्रशोऽवैषांम हेडऽईमहे।
āsau yastāmro'aruṇa'uta babhruḥ sumaΔgalaḥ Ye caina|m rudrā'abhito dikṣu śritāḥ sahasraśo'vaiṣā|m heŒa'īmahe.
He who is tawny, ruddy, brown-haired, auspicious—those Rudras who stood facing him in the quarters, a thousandfold we extol them.

व्न आसौ योऽव्सर्पति नीलग्रीवो विलोहितः। ऊतैनं गोपाऽ अदृश्रन्नदृश्रन्नुदहार्यः स दृष्टो मृडयाति नः।
vn āsau yo'vsarpati nīlagrīvo vilohitaḥ. ūtaina≈ gopā' adṛśrannadṛśrannudahāryaḥ sa dṛṣṭo mṛŒayāti naḥ.
Or he who glides, blue-throated, red-hued—guarding cattle unseen and seen; when seen he causes us to delight.

नमोऽस्तु नीलग्रीवाय सहस्राक्षाय मीढुषे। आथो येऽअस्य सत्वानोऽहं तेभ्योऽकरं नमः।
Namo'stu nīlagrīvāya sahasrākṣāya mīŒhuṣe. ātho ye'asya satvāno'ha≈ tebhyo'kara≈ namaḥ.
Salutations to the blue-throated, to the thousand-eyed, to the mighty one. Also to those beings of his that are sattvic; I made obeisance to them.

प्रमुञ्च धन्वनस्त्वमुभयोरार्त्न्योर्ज्याम। याश्च ते हस्तऽइषवः परा ता भगवो वप।
Pramu¤ca dhanvanastvamubhayorārtnyorjyām. Yāśca te hasta'iṣavaḥ parā tā bhagavo vapa.
Lower thy bow, archer, from between both sides of our distress. The shafts in thy hands—O splendid one—be those which the Lord desires.

विज्यं धनुः कपर्दिनो विशल्यो बाणवांनऽ उत। आनेश्न्नस्य याऽइषवऽआभुरस्य निषङ्गधिः।
Vijya≈ dhanuḥ kapardino viśalyo bāṇavā|n' uta. āneśnnasya yā'iṣava'ābhurasya niṣaΔgadhiḥ.
Thy bow, hair-tossing, splitting of arrows, not lacking; the unstrung one of that (bow) which was thine is the missile of the unbound.

या ते हेतिर्मीढुष्ट्म हस्ते बभूउव ते धनुः। तयाऽसमान विश्वतस्त्वमयक्ष्मया परिभुज।
Yā te hetirmīŒhuṣṭma haste babhūuva te dhanuḥ. Tayā'samān viśvatastvamayakṣmayā paribhuja.
That which in thy hand was the iron-weapon of the valiant—by it conquer thou the hostile—cling to us with eye and embrace with compassion.

परि ते धन्वनो हेतिरस्मान वृणक्तु विश्वतः। आथो यऽइषुधिस्तवारेऽअस्मन्निधेहि तम।
Pari te dhanvano hetirasmān vṛṇaktu viśvataḥ. ātho ya'iṣudhistavāre'asmannidhehi tam.
Let the cause of thy weapons surround us from all sides. Now lay that arrow of thine in our refuge.

आवतत्य धनुष्ट्वंम सहस्राक्ष शतेषुधे। निशीर्य शल्यानां मुखा शिवो नः सुमना भव।
āvatatya dhanuṣṭva|m sahasrākṣa śateṣudhe. Niśīrya śalyānā≈ mukhā śivo naḥ sumanā bhava.
Bend thy bow, thousand-eyed one, to the hundred-pointed strife. Pierce the mouths of shafts; O auspicious one, be gracious to us with kindly mind.

Namasta'āyudhāyānātatāya dhṛṣṇave. ūbhābhyāmuta te namo bāhubhyā≈ tava dhanvane.
Salutations to the bearer of weapons, to the bold one who seizes—salutations to thy two arms, salutations to thy bow-arm.

मा नो महान्तमुत मा नोऽअर्भकं मा नऽ उक्षन्तमुत मा नऽउक्षितम। मा नो वधीः पितरं मोत मातरं मा नः प्रियास्तन्वो रुद्र रीरिषः।
Mā no mahāntamuta mā no'arbhaka≈ mā na' ukṣantamuta mā na'ukṣitam. Mā no vadhīḥ pitara≈ mota mātara≈ mā naḥ priyāstanvo rudra rīriṣaḥ.
Do not let him be great for us, do not let him be a child for us, do not let him oppress us, do not let him be oppressed. May the slayer not slay our father, may he free our mother; may our loved ones not be slain by the fierce Rudra.

नमो बभ्लुशाय व्याधिनेऽन्नानां पतये नमो नमो भवस्य हेत्यै जगतां पतये नमो नमो रुद्रायाततायिने क्षेत्राणां पतये नमो नमः सूउतायाहन्त्यै वनानां पतये नमः।
Namo babhluśāya vyādhine'nnānā≈ pataye namo namo bhavasya hetyai jagatā≈ pataye namo namo rudrāyātatāyine kṣetrāṇā≈ pataye namo namḥ sūutāyāhantyai vanānā≈ pataye namaḥ.
Salutations to the bringer of disease and to the lord of grains; salutations for the cause of worldly existence; salutations to Rudra, the overrunning one, lord of the fields; salutations to the slayer of herds, lord of the forests.

इर; नमः कृत्स्नयतया धावते सत्वनां पतये नमो नमः सहमानाय निव्याधिनऽआव्याधिनीनं पतये नमो नमो निषङ्गिणे ककुभाय स्तेनानां पतये नमो नमो निचेरवे परिचरायारण्यानां पतये नमः।

Salutation to him who runs about entirely, lord of beings; salutations to the equalizer, to the remover of disease and of non-disease; salutations to the unattached, to the humpback, lord of thieves; salutations to the pursuer and attendant of the wilds.

नम उष्णीषिणे गिरिचराय कुलुञ्चानां पतये नमो नमऽइषुमद्भ्यो धन्वायिभ्यश्च वो नमो नमऽआतन्वानेभ्यः प्रतिदधानेभ्यश्च वो नमो नमऽआयच्छद्भ्योऽस्यद्भ्यश्च वो नमः।
Nama uṣṇīṣiṇe giricarāya kulu¤cānā≈ pataye namo nama'iṣumadbhyo dhanvāyibhyaśca vo namo nama'ātanvānebhyaḥ pratidadhānebhyaśca vo namo nama'āyacchadbhyo'syadbhyaśca vo namaḥ.
Salutation to the hot-headed, to the mountain-wanderer, to the curly-haired; salutations to the bow-armed and to those among you; salutations to those who bind and to those who give back; salutations to those who take and to those who possess him.

Namo visṛjadbhyo vidhyadbhyaśca vo namo namaḥ svapadbhyo jāgradbhyaśca vo namo namaḥ śayānebhya'āsīnebhyaśca vo namo namastiṣṭhadbhyo dhāvadbhyaśca vo namaḥ.
Salutations to those who release, to those who ordain; salutations to sleeping ones and to the awake; salutations to those reclining and sitting; salutations to those standing and to those running.

Namaḥ sabhābhyaḥ sabhāpatibhyaśca vo namo namo'śvebhyo'śvapatibhyaśca vo namo nama āvyādhinībhyo vividhyantībhyaśca vo namo nama ugaṇābhyastṛ|mhatībhyaśca vo namaḥ.
Salutations to assemblies and to their leaders; salutations to horses and their masters; salutations to the disease-spreading ones and to those who diversify; salutations to groups and to mighty ones.

Namo gaṇebhyo gaṇapatibhyaśca vo namo namo vrātebhyo vrātapatibhyaśca vo namo namo gṛtsebhyo gṛtsapatibhyaśca vo namo namo virūupebhyo viśvarūupebhyaśca vo namaḥ.
Salutations to the groups and their leaders; salutations to the vow-keepers and their masters; salutations to the stewards and their chiefs; salutations to the varied forms and the universal forms.

Namaḥ senābhyaḥ senānibhyaśca vo namo namo rathibhyo'arathebhyaśca vo namo namaḥ kṣattṛbhyaḥ saΔgṛhītṛbhyaśca vo namo namo mahadbhyo arbhakebhyaśca vo namaḥ.
Salutations to the armies and their leaders; salutations to the chariots and their charioteers; salutations to kings and their collectors; salutations to the great ones and the youths.

Namastakṣabhyo rathakārebhyaśca vo namo namaḥ kulālebhyaḥ karmārebhyaśca vo namo namo niṣādebhyaḥ pu¤jiṣṭhebhyaśca vo namo namaḥ śvanibhyo mṛgayubhyaśca vo namaḥ.
Salutations to carpenters and chariot-makers; salutations to potters and smiths; salutations to the outcast (Nishada) and the foremost of the clan; salutations to the hounds and to hunters.

Salutations to the long-haired and the tousled-haired; salutations to the thousand-eyed and the hundred-bowed; salutations to the mountain-resident and the arrow-darter; salutations to the lord of camels and to the glorious one.

Salutations to the wild and to the camp-dweller; salutations to the listener and the responder; salutations to the swift-armed and the chariot-rider; salutations to the brave and the breaker.

Salutations to the bearer of soot and to the armored; salutations to the mail-clad and the armoured; salutations to the heard and to the army of heard; salutations to the drum and to the tooth-bearer.

Salutations to the bold and to the toucher; salutations to the unattached and the skillful; salutations to the sharp-weaponed and the armed; salutations to the owner of weapons and to the good-arched.

Salutations to the audible and to the lawful; salutations to the maker and the subduer; salutations to the clan and to the lake; salutations to the soundful and to the expansive.

Namaḥ kūupyāya cāvaṭyāya ca namo vīdhryāya cātapyāya ca namo meghyāya ca vidyutyāya ca namo varṣyāya cāvarṣyāya ca.
Salutations to the well and to the vessel; salutations to the destroyer and to the heat-bringer; salutations to the cloud and to the lightning; salutations to the rain and the non-rain.

O blind lord, may the poor, blue and red—these hopes of our folk and of these beasts—do not terrify us; may no portion of ours be taken away.

These Rudras of yours, hair-curled, white-haired, valiant in decay—may they be heavy with strength for us. As the sun and moon for two- and four-footed creatures, may the world be nourished and not hungry in this village.

May those Rudra auspicious ones of yours be body-giving, auspicious, universal healers; auspicious medicines of the ritual—by them protect our life.

Pari no rudrasya hetirvṛṇaktu pari tveṣasya durmatiraghāyoḥ. āva sthirā maghavadbhyastanuṣva mīŒhvastokāya tanayāya mṛŒa.
Let the hostility of our Rudra be turned away; let the ill counsel and malice of that one be turned aside. Be steady, O generous ones; bear strength, be kindly to the child—protect us.

MīŒhuṣṭama śivatama śivo naḥ sumanā bhava. Parame vṛkṣa' āyudha≈ nidhāya kṛtti≈ vasāna' ācara pināka≈ bibhradā gahi.
Be most loving, most auspicious, be auspicious to us with a good mind. Take up the supreme tree-weapon, laying aside anger; don the garb, bear the Pinaka—seize it.

Fierce, spreading, or red-throated—hail to you, O Lord. May the thousand of your enemies fall upon us; let those (enemies) be poured upon us.
