Yu¤jānaḥ prathama≈ manastattvāya savitā dhiyaḥ. āgnerjyotirnicāyya prithivyā'adhyābharat.
Uniting first the mind for the principle, O Savitṛ, the thoughts. O Agni, bearing forth the light, spread over the earth and make it radiant.

युक्तेन मनसा वयं देवस्य सवितुः सवे। स्वर्ग्याय शक्त्या।
Yuktena manasā vaya≈ devasya savituḥ save. Svargyāya śaktyā.
With united mind may we be attendants of the god Savitṛ, endowed with his power for heavenly bliss.

युक्त्वाय सविता देवान्त्स्वर्यतो धिया दिवम। बृहज्ज्योतिः करिष्यतः सविता प्रसुवाति तान।
Yuktvāya savitā devāntsvaryato dhiyā divam. Bṛhajjyotiḥ kariṣyataḥ savitā prasuvāti tān.
Having united the gods by Savitṛ’s thought, with mind uplifted to the sky; he will make great light—Savitṛ will beget them.

युञ्जते मनऽउत युञ्जते धियो विप्रा विप्रस्य बृहतो विपश्चितः। वि होत्रा दधे वयुनाविदेकऽ इन्मही देवस्य सवितुः परिष्टुतिः।
Yu¤jate mana'uta yu¤jate dhiyo viprā viprasya bṛhato vipaścitaḥ. Vi hotrā dadhe vayunāvideka' inmahī devasya savituḥ pariṣṭutiḥ.
Minds are yoked, minds are yoked—thoughts of the wise, the great-knowing seer. The priests have offered invocation like a single breath: this is the earth’s laudation of the god Savitṛ.

युजे वां ब्रह्म पूउर्व्यं नमोभिर विश्लोकऽएतु पथ्येव सूउरेः। शृण्वन्तु विश्वेऽअमृतस्य पुत्राऽ आ ये धामानि दिव्यानि तस्थुः।
Yuje vā≈ brahma pūurvya≈ namobhir viśloka'etu pathyeva sūureḥ. ›ṛṇvantu viśve'amṛtasya putrā' ā ye dhāmāni divyāni tasthuḥ.
Join with ancient sacred force; with repeated salutations let the heroic one advance along the appointed path. Let all children of Immortality hear—those who dwell in the divine abodes.

यस्य प्रयाणमन्वन्यऽइद्ययुर्देवा देवस्य महिमानमोजसा। यः पार्थिवानि विममे सऽ एतशो रजांम्सि देवः सविता महित्वना।
Yasya prayāṇamanvanya'idyayurdevā devasya mahimānamojasā. Yaḥ pārthivāni vimame sa' etaśo rajā|msi devaḥ savitā mahitvanā.
By whom the gods follow life’s course, by whose strength the gods’ greatness is upheld—he who measured out the earthly things: that god Savitṛ is mighty in might.

देव सवितः प्रसुव यज्ञं प्रसुव यज्ञपति भगाय। दिव्यो गन्धर्वः केतपूउः केतं नः पुनातु वाचस्पतिर्वाचं नः स्वदतु।
Deva savitaḥ prasuva yaj¤a≈ prasuva yaj¤apati√ bhagāya. Divyo gandharvaḥ ketapūuḥ keta≈ naḥ punātu vācaspatirvāca≈ naḥ svadatu.
May the god Savitṛ beget the sacrificial rite, may he beget the lord of rites, O auspicious one. A celestial gandharva, famed for banners—may Keta purify for us; Vācaspati grant speech to us and make it sweet.

ईमं नो देव सवितर यज्ञं प्रणय देवाव्यंम सखिविदंम सत्राजितं धनजितंम स्वर्जितम। र चा स्तोमं म समर्धय गायत्रेण रथन्तरं बृहद गायत्रवर्त्तनि स्वाहा।
īma≈ no deva savitar yaj¤a≈ praṇaya devāvya|m sakhivida|m satrājita≈ dhanajita|m svarjitam. R cā stoma| m samardhaya gāyatreṇa rathantara≈ bṛhad gāyatravarttani svāhā.
O god Savitṛ, cause this our sacrifice to be born; grant it godly strength, friend-knower, victorious in the session, rich in gain, sovereign of heaven. And make this hymn fruitful for me: with Gayatrī, the large chariot‑verse, I offer svāhā.

आभ्रिरसि नार्यसि त्वया वयमग्निंम शकेम खनितुंम सधस्थ आ। जागतेन छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वत।
ābhrirasi nāryasi tvayā vayamagni|m śakema khanitu|m sadhastha ā. Jāgatena chandasāΔgirasvat.
You are cloud and woman; by you may we be able to dig out Agni, established here. Let the awakened meter of the Angiras sing.

हस्त आधाय सविता बिभ्रदभ्रिंम हिरण्ययीम। आग्नेर्ज्योतिर्निचायय्य पृथिव्याऽअध्याभरदानुष्टुभेन छन्दसाङ्गिरस्वत।
Hasta ādhāya savitā bibhradabhri|m hiraṇyayīm. āgnerjyotirnicāyayya pṛthivyā'adhyābharadānuṣṭubhena chandasāΔgirasvat.
Carrying in the hand, Savitṛ bore the cloud, the golden‑bellied. He set the fire’s light, bearing it over the earth with anuṣṭubh—the meter of Angirasvat.

प्रतू उ र्तं वाजिन्नाद्रव वरिष्ठामनु संवतम। दिवि ते जन्म परममन्तरिक्षे तव नाभिः पृथिव्यामधि योनिरित।
Pratū u rta≈ vājinnādrava variṣṭhāmanu sa≈vatam. Divi te janma paramamantarikṣe tava nābhiḥ pṛthivyāmadhi yonirit.
O straight‑moving Ṛṣi, praised by vigorous Song, you who are foremost among the mighty—your birth is in the heavens, mid‑air is your navel; your womb is upon the earth.

युञ्जाथां म रासभं युवम अस्मिन यामे वृषण्वसूउ। आग्निं भरन्तमस्मयुम।
Yu¤jāthā| m rāsabha≈ yuvam asmin yāme vṛṣaṇvasūu. āgni≈ bharantamasmayum.
Unite, O heroes, like yoked bulls; you, in this Yāma, bear the vigorous Agni to us.

पृथिव्याः सधस्थादग्निं पुरीष्यमङ्गिरस्वदाभराग्निं पुरीष्यमङ्गिरस्वदच्छेमोऽग्निं पुरीष्यमङ्गिरस्वद भरिष्यामः।
Pṛthivyāḥ sadhasthādagni≈ purīṣyamaΔgirasvadābharāgni≈ purīṣyamaΔgirasvadacchemo'gni≈ purīṣyamaΔgirasvad bhariṣyāmaḥ.
From the earth’s seat we will furnish Agni the established, O Angirasvat; furnish the shining Agni, O Angirasvat; furnish the gracious Agni, O Angirasvat—we shall bear him.

आन्वग्निरुषसामग्रमख्यदन्वहानि प्रथमो जातवेदाः। आनु सूउर्यस्य पुरुत्रा च रश्मीननु द्यावापृथिवीऽआततन्थ।
ānvagniruṣasāmagramakhyadanvahāni prathamo jātavedāḥ. ānu sūuryasya purutrā ca raśmīnanu dyāvāpṛthivī'ātatantha.
The foremost Jātavedas led the procession of fires and the Rudras as hosts. Thereafter the rays of Surya and the offspring of the sun struck upon heaven and earth.

आगत्य वाज्यध्वानंम सर्वा मृधो विधूउनुते। आग्निंम सधस्थे महति चक्षुषा निचिकीषते।
Ågatya vājyadhvāna|m sarvā mṛdho vidhūunute. āgni|m sadhasthe mahati cakṣuṣā nicikīṣate.
All the singers approached the sacrificial clamour and dispersed it. They sought Agni, established in the seat, with mighty eye.

आक्रम्य वाजिन पृथिवीमग्निमिच्छ रुचा त्वम। भूउम्या वृत्वाय नो ब्रूउहि यतः खनेम तं वयम।
Åkramya vājin pṛthivīmagnimiccha rucā tvam. Bhūumyā vṛtvāya no brūuhi yataḥ khanema ta≈ vayam.
O you who desire the active one, enter the earth; you are lovely. Make the earth firm for our dwelling—speak, that we may dig him out.

द्यौस्ते पृष्ठम पृथिवी सधस्थमात्मान्तरिक्षंम समुद्रो योनिः। विख्याय चक्षुषा त्वमभि तिष्ठ पृतन्यतः।
Dyauste pṛṣṭham pṛthivī sadhasthamātmāntarikṣa|m samudro yoniḥ. Vikhyāya cakṣuṣā tvamabhi tiṣṭha pṛtanyataḥ.
Heaven is your back, the earth beneath you, the seat is mid‑air; the ocean is the womb. Manifest with your eye and stand facing forth.
Yajurveda 11.21 — Dravinoda Devata

ऊत्क्राम महते सौभगायास्मादास्थानाद द्रविणोदा वाजिन। वयं म स्याम सुमतौ पृथिव्याऽ अग्निं खनन्तऽ उपस्थेऽ अस्याः।
ūtkrāma mahate saubhagāyāsmādāsthānād draviṇodā vājin. Vaya| m syāma sumatau pṛthivyā' agni≈ khananta' upasthe' asyāḥ.
Arising for the great auspiciousness and from our station, O singer of prizes, wealth‑bestower: may we be in the good pact of the earth, digging Agni at her foundation.
Yajurveda 11.22 — Dravinoda Devata

ऊदक्रमीद द्रविणोदा वाज्यर्वाकः सुलोकंम सुकृतं पृथिव्याम। ततः खनेम सुप्रतीकमग्निंम स्वो रुहाणाऽ अधि नाकमुत्तमम।
ūdakramīd draviṇodā vājyarvākaḥ suloka|m sukṛta≈ pṛthivyām. Tataḥ khanema supratīkamagni|m svo ruhāṇā' adhi nākamuttamam.
From the rising pool the wealth‑bestower, the singer endowed with speech, became manifest—fairly wrought upon the earth. Then let us dig the near and excellent Agni, the best of our own courses above the nostrils.

नऽक्कु आ त्वा जिघर्मि मनसा घृतेन प्रतिक्षियन्तं भुवनानि विश्वा। पृथुं तिरश्चा वयसा बृहन्तं व्यचिष्ठमन्नै रभसं दृशानम।
n`'kku Å tvā jigharmi manasā ghṛtena pratikṣiyanta≈ bhuvanāni viśvā. Pṛthu≈ tiraścā vayasā bṛhanta≈ vyaciṣṭhamannai rabhasa≈ dṛśānam.
I do not desire from you, with mind anointed, all the worlds kept back; with broad, crooked strength and mature years you have cast forth the remnants, the visions of the mighty.

आ विश्वतः प्रत्यञ्चं जिघर्म्यरक्षसा मनसा तज्जुषेत। मर्यश्री स्पृहयद्वर्णोऽ अग्निर्नाभिमृशे तन्वा जर्भुराणः।
Å viśvataḥ pratya¤ca≈ jigharmyarakṣasā manasā tajjuṣeta. Maryaśrī spṛhayadvarṇo' agnirnābhimṛśe tanvā jarbhurāṇaḥ.
O Agni, with your mind protect from every side; may you be pleased. O glorious one, desire the shining color; touch not the navel; strengthen the bodies of the old.

परि वाजपतिः कविरग्निर्हव्यान्यक्रमीत। दधद्रत्नानि दाशुषे।
Pari vājapatiḥ kaviragnirhavyānyakramīt. Dadhadratnāni dāśuṣe.
All around the lord of strength, the wise Agni began the offerings; he placed precious gems before the worshippers.
Yajurveda 11.26 — Agni Devata

परि त्वाग्ने पुरं वयं विप्रंम सहस्य धीमहि। धृषद्वर्णं दिवे दिवे हन्तारं भङ्गुरावताम।
Pari tvāgne pura≈ vaya≈ vipra|m sahasya dhīmahi. Dhṛṣadvarṇa≈ dive dive hantāra≈ bhaΔgurāvatām.
O Agni, we move about you; we, the Brahmin, meditate together with thought. Day by day, striking in color and bold, break the slayer who is frail.

देवस्य त्वा सवितुः प्रसवेऽश्विनोर्बाहुभ्यां पूउष्णो हस्ताभ्याम। पृथिव्याः सधस्थादग्निं पुरीष्यमङ्गिरस्वत खनामि। ज्योतिष्मन्तं त्वाग्ने सुप्रतीकमजस्रेण भानुना दीद्यतम। शिवं प्रजाभ्योऽहिं म सन्तं पृथिव्याः सधस्थादग्निं पुरीष्यमङ्गिरस्वत खनामः।
Devasya tvā savituḥ prasave'śvinorbāhubhyā≈ pūuṣṇo hastābhyām. Pṛthivyāḥ sadhasthādagni≈ purīṣyamaΔgirasvat khanāmi. Jyotiṣmanta≈ tvāgne supratīkamajasreṇa bhānunā dīdyatam. ›iva≈ prajābhyo'hi| m santa≈ pṛthivyāḥ sadhasthādagni≈ purīṣyamaΔgirasvat khanāmaḥ.
O deity born of Savitṛ and the Ashvins at birth, with your arms and hands warm: from the earth's settled place I will clear the fire; O shining Agni, be set opposite to the sun, shining with the quick light. Grant welfare to the people; from the earth's settled place I will clear the fire.

आपं पृष्ठमसि योनिरग्नेः समुद्रमभितः पिन्वमानम। वर्धमानो महांनऽआ च पुष्करे दिवो मात्रया वरिम्णा प्रथस्व।
āpa≈ pṛṣṭhamasi yoniragneḥ samudramabhitaḥ pinvamānam. Vardhamāno mahā|n'ā ca puṣkare divo mātrayā varimṇā prathasva.
You are the source of waters, O womb of Agni, surrounding the ocean, drawing forth. Growing mighty, O vast one, with the measure of the sky, spread the waters and bring them forth.

शर्म च स्थो वर्म च स्थोऽछिद्रे बहुलेऽ उभे। व्यचस्वती संवसाथां भृतमग्निं पुरीष्यम।
›arma ca stho varma ca stho'chidre bahule' ubhe. Vyacasvatī sa≈vasāthā≈ bhṛtamagni≈ purīṣyam.
Be shelter, be armor; be many-jointed, both together. O moving stream, grant dwelling with companions; bear the sustaining Agni as purifier of filth.
Yajurveda 11.31 — Jayapati Devate

संवसाथांम स्वर्विदा समीचीऽउरसा त्मना। आग्निमन्तर्भरिष्यन्ती ज्योतिष्मन्तमजस्रमित।
Sa≈vasāthā|m svarvidā samīcī'urasā tmanā. āgnimantarbhariṣyantī jyotiṣmantamajasramit.
The companions, endowed with heaven-knowledge, will gather near with chests of breath. They will bear Agni within, bright and swift in radiance.

पुरीष्योऽसि विश्वभराऽअथर्वा त्वा प्रथमो निरमन्थदग्ने। त्वामग्ने पुष्करादध्यथर्वा निरमन्थत। मू उ र्ध्नो विश्वस्य वाघतः।
Purīṣyo'si viśvabharā'atharvā tvā prathamo niramanthadagne. Tvāmagne puṣkarādadhyatharvā niramanthata. Mū u rdhno viśvasya vāghataḥ.
You, purifier, are the purifier bearing the world; Atharvan churned you first, O Agni. From the pool Atharvan churned you; you rose as the speech of the world.

तमु त्वा दध्यङ्ङृषिः पुत्रऽ ईधेऽअथर्वणः। वृत्रहणं पुरन्दरम।
Tamu tvā dadhyaΔΔṛṣiḥ putra' īdhe'atharvaṇaḥ. Vṛtrahaṇa≈ purandaram.
May the seer place you, O one, son of the hymn, O Atharvan. Slayer of Vṛtra, Purandara, grant that.
Yajurveda 11.34 — Agni Devata

तमु त्वा पाथ्यो वृषा समीधे दस्युहन्तमम। धनञ्जयंम रणे रणे।
Tamu tvā pāthyo vṛṣā samīdhe dasyuhantamam. Dhana¤jaya|m raṇe raṇe.
May he make you a path, a bull, blazing like the slayer of robbers; Dhanañjaya in battle, battle upon battle.
Yajurveda 11.35 — Hota Devata

सीद होतः स्वऽउ लोके चिकित्वान्त्सादया यज्ञंम सुकृतस्य योनौ। देवावीर्देवान हविषा यजास्यग्ने बृहद्यजमाने वयो धाः।
Sīda hotaḥ sva'u loke cikitvāntsādayā yaj¤a|m sukṛtasya yonau. Devāvīrdevān haviṣā yajāsyagne bṛhadyajamāne vayo dhāḥ.
Seat yourself, O priest, behold in your world, conclude with compassion the sacrifice of the well-done source. Heroes of gods, offer the gods with oblation; Agni, when the great ritual is performed, receive it.

नि होता होतृषदने विदानस्त्वेषो दीदिवांनऽ असदत सुदक्षः। आदब्धव्रतप्रमतिर वसिष्ठः सहस्रम्भरः शुचिजिह्वोऽ अग्निः।
Ni hotā hotṛṣadane vidānastveṣo dīdivā|n' asadat sudakṣaḥ. ādabdhavratapramatir vasiṣṭhaḥ sahasrambharaḥ śucijihvo' agniḥ.
The sacrificer, the skilled Hotṛ in the assembly, shone forth like light; Vasiṣṭha, keeper of vows, thousand-bearing, with pure tongue, is Agni.

संम सीदस्व महांनऽ असि शोचस्व देववीतमः। वि धूउममग्नेऽअरुषं मियेध्य सृज प्रशस्त दर्शतम।
Sa|m sīdasva mahā|n' asi śocasva devavītamaḥ. Vi dhūumamagne'aruṣa≈ miyedhya sṛja praśasta darśatam.
Sit near, O mighty one; be grieved, O best among gods. O Agni, spread not smoke; send forth the famed sight well-ordered.
Yajurveda 11.38 — Apah Devata

आपो देवीरुप सृज मधुमतीरयक्ष्माय प्रजाभ्यः। तासामास्थानादुज्जिहतामोषधयः सुपिप्पलाः।
Åpo devīrupa sṛja madhumatīrayakṣmāya prajābhyaḥ. Tāsāmāsthānādujjihatāmoṣadhayaḥ supippalāḥ.
Create waters in the form of goddesses, honeyed for weakness, for the people. From their places uproot healing herbs, the supipal trees.
Yajurveda 11.39 — Vayu Devata

सं ते वायुर्मातरिश्वा दधातूउत्तानाया हृदयं यद्विकस्तम। यो देवानां चरसि प्राणथेन कस्मै देव वषडस्तु तुभ्यम।
Sa≈ te vāyurmātariśvā dadhātūuttānāyā hṛdaya≈ yadvikastam. Yo devānā≈ carasi prāṇathena kasmai deva vaṣaŒastu tubhyam.
May Vāyu, Matariśvan, grant you the lifted heart, that which has grown wide. He who moves among the gods with breath—O god, may power be yours.

सुजातो ज्योतिषा सह शर्म वरूउथमाऽसदत्स्वः। वासोऽअग्ने विश्वरूउपंम संव्ययस्व विभावसो।
Sujāto jyotiṣā saha śarma varūuthamā'sadatsvaḥ. Vāso'agne viśvarūupa|m sa≈vyayasva vibhāvaso.
Born well, with light and splendor you shone in your own world. O Agni, assume the universal form of wealth; bestow the glory of abundance.

You were born as a womb, O bright Agni, beautiful among herbs for the sap of cattle. A lovely child, around the darkness they suckled; over mothers the kine bestowed calves.

Praitu vājī kanikradannānadadrāsabhaḥ patvā. Bharannagni≈ purīṣyam mā pādyāyuṣaḥ purā. Vṛṣāgni≈ Vṛṣaṇa≈ bharannapā≈ garbha|m samudriyam. āgna'ā yāhi vītaye.
Let him who gives wealth let fall the kine, sheep, grain and horses. May they fill the fire and strengthen our ancient life; may he bring bulls, cows, waters and the ocean’s germ — may the fire go forth for the giver.

We proclaim the true deathless, the true Agni filling with warmth; herbs, rejoice, bring this auspicious Agni here to you. Scatter all hostile, crafty, wicked counsels—sit not, O evil thought; abandon ill intent.

Herbs, take and receive, O flowery, leafy ones. This is your womb-producing season; sit established in the firm seat of labor.

With the broad sheltering defense, restrain the hostile Rakshasas who oppress the weak. May I be the great protector on the broad shield, having kind intent and bound by friendship.

Mitra fashioned earth and the atmosphere with light. O Sujāta, O Jātavedas, for the protection of the assembled, I create you as progeny for the people.

Rudras produced the earth, vast in light, with mighty flame. Of them the brilliant Sun, swift in rays, delights among the gods.

Having formed the earth with steadfast Rudras, firm in action and soft in substance, may they make it pliant with their hands; fashion it into a furrowed strip.

May the furrowed strip be a good shelter, a well-formed covering, a beneficent refuge. May it, O excellent one, grant me broad realms with your two hands.

ādityai rāsnāsyaditiṣṭe bila≈ gṛbhṇātu Kṛtvāya sā mahīmukhā≈ mṛnmayī≈ yonimagnaye. Putrebhyaḥ prāyacchadaditiḥ śrapayāniti.
When Aditya rose and Aditi took her place, she took and placed the cavern; thus she fashioned a clay womb for the earth’s face. Aditi gave offspring to sons — thus she bestowed progeny.

May the gods, Savitar and the strong-armed, with swift stride and mighty power, move; dispel the shaking hopes on earth and open the directions.

Åkūutimagni≈ prayuja|m svāhā mano medhāmagni≈ prayuja|m svāhā citta≈ vij¤ātamagni≈ prayuja|m svāhā vāco vidhṛtimagni|m prayuja|m svāhā prajāpataye manave svāhā'gnaye vaiśvānarāya svāhā.
I invoke: to Agni of rising flame, I offer svāhā; to the fire of mind and intellect svāhā; to the fire of heart and knowledge svāhā; to the fire of speech and maintenance svāhā; to Prajāpati Manava svāhā; to Agni Vaiśvānara svāhā.

May all be leaders of the god; may the mortal bind friendly union. May all kings aim at the radiant heaven; may he choose you, O Pusya, with svāhā.

Rejoice, O Earth Goddess, you were fashioned by auspicious, mighty Maya and by the oblations. May this oblation be accepted by the gods; O provider, be not ruinous—appear in this sacrifice.

A shining one, a two‑formed serpent‑son, a firstborn, worthy priest and sacrificer; a marvel, son of a thousand.

Whatever, whether the tongue of offering or the foam of expulsion, overflows exceedingly—may all that be your ghee; grant it acceptable and established.

Bearing faggots and bundles they stand like horses as grass for him. With nourishing strength and oblations they grow proud—O Agni, let not enmity come upon you from hostile ones.

At the navel of the earth we offer fuel: O Agni, we invoke for rich nourishment. May this great song, this yajna, conquer the fighter Agni among men; we have stablished it.

ऊदेषां बाहूउऽ अतिरमुद्वर्चोऽ अथो बलम। क्षिणोमि ब्रह्मणाऽमित्रानुन्नयामि स्वां न ऽ अहम।
ūdeṣā≈ bāhūu' atiramudvarco' atho balam. Kṣiṇomi brahmaṇā'mitrānunnayāmi svā| n ' aham.
With outstretched arms I pour forth radiance and strength. I subdue enemies with Brahman; I uplift my own—yet I am not proud.

आन्नपतेऽन्नस्य नो देह्यनमीवस्य शुष्मिणः। प्र प्र दातारं तारिषऽ उ ऊ र्जं नो धेहि द्विपदे चतुष्पदे।
ānnapate'nnasya no dehyanamīvasya śuṣmiṇaḥ. Pra pra dātāra≈ tāriṣa' u ū rja≈ no dhehi dvipade catuṣpade.
O Lord of food, grant us the food, the bodily nourishment like gentle dew. Bestower, give strength and vigour to us; grant energy to two‑footed and four‑footed alike.
