pradyumnādyā hareḥ putrā rukmiṇyāḥ kathitās tava bhānuṃ bhaimarikaṃ caiva satyabhāmā vyajāyata ||
From Pradyumna and others, the sons of Hari, as told by Rukmini, Bhanu and Bhairamika, and Satyabhama was born.

dīptimantaḥ prayakṣādyā rohiṇyās tanayā hareḥ babhūvur jāmbavatyāṃ ca sāmbādyā bāhuśālinaḥ ||
The radiant sons of Rohini and others of the Lord, were born in Jambavati and Sambha, who were strong-armed.

tanayā bhadravindādyā nāgnajityāṃ mahābalāḥ saṃgrāmajitpradhānās tu śaibyāyāś cābhavan sutāḥ ||
The sons of the mighty Bhadravinda, born of the Nagna lineage, became prominent in battle and were known as the sons of Shaibya.

vṛkādyāś ca sutā mādryāṃ gātravatpramukhān sutān avāpa lakṣmaṇā putrāḥ kālindyāś ca śrutādayaḥ ||
The sons of Vrika and others, prominent among the sons of Madri, were born to Lakshmana and also to Kalindi.

अन्यासां चैव भार्याणां समुत्पन्नानि चक्रिणः अष्टायुतानि पुत्राणां सहस्राणां शतं तथा ।।
anyāsāṃ caiva bhāryāṇāṃ samutpannāni cakriṇaḥ aṣṭāyutāni putrāṇāṃ sahasrāṇāṃ śataṃ tathā ||
From other wives of the Chakravartin, there were born eight thousand sons and a hundred thousand.

प्रद्युम्नः प्रथमस तेषां सर्वेषां रुक्मिणीसुतः प्रद्युम्नाद अनिरुद्धो ऽभूद वज्रस तस्माद अजायत ।।
pradyumnaḥ prathamas teṣāṃ sarveṣāṃ rukmiṇīsutaḥ pradyumnād aniruddho 'bhūd vajras tasmād ajāyata ||
Pradyumna was the first among them, the son of Rukmini, and from Pradyumna, Aniruddha was born, who was known as Vajra.

अनिरुद्धो रणे रुद्धो बलेः पौत्रीं महाबलः बाणस्य तनयाम ऊषाम उपयेमे द्विजोत्तम ।।
aniruddho raṇe ruddho baleḥ pautrīṃ mahābalaḥ bāṇasya tanayām ūṣām upayeme dvijottama ||
Aniruddha, engaged in battle, was the grandson of the mighty Balarama and took the daughter of Bana, named Usha.

यत्र युद्धम अभूद घोरं हरिशंकरयोर महत छिन्नं सहस्रं बाहूनां यत्र बाणस्य चक्रिणा ।।
yatra yuddham abhūd ghoraṃ hariśaṃkarayor mahat chinnaṃ sahasraṃ bāhūnāṃ yatra bāṇasya cakriṇā ||
Where a terrible battle took place between Hari and Shankara, there a thousand arms were severed by the arrow of the wheel.

कथं युद्धम अभूद ब्रह्मन्न उषार्थे हरकृष्णयोः कथं क्षयं च बाणस्य बाहूनां कृतवान हरिः ।।
kathaṃ yuddham abhūd brahmann uṣārthe harakṛṣṇayoḥ kathaṃ kṣayaṃ ca bāṇasya bāhūnāṃ kṛtavān hariḥ ||
How did a battle arise, O Brahman, for the sake of the dawn between Hari and Krishna? How did Hari cause the destruction of the arms?

एतत सर्वं महाभाग ममाख्यातुं त्वम अर्हसि महत कौतूहलं जातं कथां श्रोतुम इमां हरेः ।।
etat sarvaṃ mahābhāga mamākhyātuṃ tvam arhasi mahat kautūhalaṃ jātaṃ kathāṃ śrotum imāṃ hareḥ ||
O great being, you are worthy to narrate all this; great curiosity has arisen to hear this story of Hari.

उषा बाणसुता विप्र पार्वतीं सह शम्भुना क्रीडन्तीम उपलक्ष्योच्चैः स्पृहां चक्रे तदाश्रयाम ।।
uṣā bāṇasutā vipra pārvatīṃ saha śambhunā krīḍantīm upalakṣyoccaiḥ spṛhāṃ cakre tadāśrayām ||
Usha, the daughter of Banasura, along with Parvati, was playing, and she saw them and felt a longing for that.

ततः सकलचित्तज्ञा गौरी ताम आह भामिनीम अलम अत्यर्थतापेन भर्त्रा त्वम अपि रंस्यसे ।।
tataḥ sakalacittajñā gaurī tām āha bhāminīm alam atyarthatāpena bhartrā tvam api raṃsyase ||
Then Gauri, who knows all minds, said to her, 'O beautiful one, you will also enjoy with your husband, free from excessive distress.'

ityukte sā tadā cakre kadeti matim ātmanaḥ ko vā bhartā mamety enāṃ punar apy āha pārvatī ||
Thus spoken, she then thought to herself, 'Who could be my husband?' Parvati again spoke to her.

वैशाखशुक्लद्वादश्यां स्वप्ने यो ऽभिभवं तव करिष्यति स ते भर्ता राजपुत्रि भविष्यति ।।
vaiśākhaśukladvādaśyāṃ svapne yo 'bhibhavaṃ tava kariṣyati sa te bhartā rājaputri bhaviṣyati ||
On the twelfth day of the bright half of Vaishakha, whoever conquers you in a dream will be your husband, O princess.

तस्यां तिथौ पुमान स्वप्ने यथा देव्या उदीरितम तथैवाभिभवं चक्रे रागं चक्रे च तत्र सा ।।
tasyāṃ tithau pumān svapne yathā devyā udīritam tathaivābhibhavaṃ cakre rāgaṃ cakre ca tatra sā ||
On that date, as the goddess had declared in a dream, a man will conquer her, and there will be love there.

ततः प्रबुद्धा पुरुषम अपश्यन्ती समुत्सुका क्व गतो ऽसीति निर्लज्जा मैत्रेयोक्तवती सखीम ।।
tataḥ prabuddhā puruṣam apaśyantī samutsukā kva gato 'sīti nirlajjā maitreyoktavatī sakhīm ||
Then, awakened and seeing the man, she, eager, asked her friend, 'Where have you gone?' without shame.

बाणस्य मन्त्री कुम्भाण्डः चित्रलेखा च तत्सुता तस्याः सख्य अभवत सा च प्राह को ऽयं त्वयोच्यते ।।
bāṇasya mantrī kumbhāṇḍaḥ citralekhā ca tatsutā tasyāḥ sakhy abhavat sā ca prāha ko 'yaṃ tvayocyate ||
The minister of Bāṇa, Kumbhāṇḍa, and his daughter Citralekhā became her friends, and she asked, 'Who is this that you speak of?'

यदा लज्जाकुला नास्यै कथयाम आस सा सखी तदा विश्वासम आनीय सर्वम एवाभ्यवादयत ।।
yadā lajjākulā nāsyai kathayām āsa sā sakhī tadā viśvāsam ānīya sarvam evābhyavādayat ||
When the friend, feeling shy, spoke to her, she then brought confidence and conveyed everything.

विदितार्थां तु ताम आह पुनर ऊषा यथोदितम देव्या तथैव तत्प्राप्तौ यो ऽभ्युपायः कुरुष्व तम ।।
viditārthāṃ tu tām āha punar ūṣā yathoditam devyā tathaiva tatprāptau yo 'bhyupāyaḥ kuruṣva tam ||
Knowing the meaning, she spoke again as the goddess had instructed, 'Whatever means you have for achieving that, employ them.'

ततः पटे सुरान दैत्यान गन्धर्वांश च प्रधानतः मनुष्यांश चाभिलिख्यास्यै चित्रलेखा व्यदर्शयत ।।
tataḥ paṭe surān daityān gandharvāṃś ca pradhānataḥ manuṣyāṃś cābhilikhyāsyai citralekhā vyadarśayat ||
Then, on the cloth, she depicted the gods, demons, and foremost among the celestial beings, as well as humans.

अपास्य सा तु गन्धर्वांस तथोरगसुरासुरान मनुष्येषु ददौ दृष्टिं तेष्व अप्य अन्धकवृष्णिषु ।।
apāsya sā tu gandharvāṃs tathoragasurāsurān manuṣyeṣu dadau dṛṣṭiṃ teṣv apy andhakavṛṣṇiṣu ||
She then gave her gaze to the celestial beings, as well as to the serpents and demons, among the humans, even in the Andhaka-Vrishni.

कृष्णरामौ विलोक्यासीत सुभ्रूर लज्जाजडेव सा प्रद्युम्नदर्शने व्रीडादृष्टिं निन्ये ऽन्यतो द्विज ।।
kṛṣṇarāmau vilokyāsīt subhrūr lajjājaḍeva sā pradyumnadarśane vrīḍādṛṣṭiṃ ninye 'nyato dvija ||
Seeing Krishna and Rama, the beautiful one, feeling shy, cast her gaze elsewhere, due to the sight of Pradyumna.

दृष्टमात्रे ततः कान्ते प्रद्युम्नतनये द्विज दृष्ट्वात्यर्थविलासिन्या लज्जा क्वापि निराकृता ।।
dṛṣṭamātre tataḥ kānte pradyumnatanaye dvija dṛṣṭvātyarthavilāsinyā lajjā kvāpi nirākṛtā ||
Upon merely seeing, O Brahmin, the daughter of Pradyumna, the shyness of the exceedingly playful one was dispelled.

सो ऽयं सो ऽयम इतीत्य उक्ते तया सा योगगामिनी ।। ययौ द्वारवतीम ऊषां समाश्वास्य ततः सखीम ।।
so 'yaṃ so 'yam itīty ukte tayā sā yogagāminī || yayau dvāravatīm ūṣāṃ samāśvāsya tataḥ sakhīm ||
When she said, 'This is he, this is he,' the yogic woman consoled her and then went to Usha in Dwaraka.
