वने विचरतस तस्य सह गोपैर महात्मनः मानुषछद्मरूपस्य शेषस्य धरणीभृतः ।।
vane vicaratas tasya saha gopair mahātmanaḥ mānuṣachadmarūpasya śeṣasya dharaṇībhṛtaḥ ||
While wandering in the forest, the great soul, in the guise of a human, is accompanied by the gopis, the bearers of the earth.

निष्पादितोरुकार्यस्य कार्येणोर्वीविचारिणः उपभोगार्थम अत्यर्थं वरुणः प्राह वारुणीम ।।
niṣpāditorukāryasya kāryeṇorvīvicāriṇaḥ upabhogārtham atyarthaṃ varuṇaḥ prāha vāruṇīm ||
Varuna, pondering over the task accomplished, spoke to Varuni for the purpose of enjoyment.

अभीष्टा सर्वदा यस्य मदिरे त्वं महौजसः अनन्तस्योपभोगाय तस्य गच्छ मुदे शुभे ।।
abhīṣṭā sarvadā yasya madire tvaṃ mahaujasaḥ anantasyopabhogāya tasya gaccha mude śubhe ||
Always desired by you, O mighty one, for the enjoyment of the infinite, go happily to him.

इत्य उक्ता वारुणी तेन संनिधानम अथाकरोत वृन्दावनवनोत्पन्नकदम्बतरुकोटरे ।।
ity uktā vāruṇī tena saṃnidhānam athākarot vṛndāvanavanotpannakadambatarukoṭare ||
Thus, Varuni, having been addressed, established her presence in the grove of the Kadamba tree that blossomed in Vrindavan.

विचरन बलदेवो ऽपि मदिरागन्धम उत्तमम आघ्राय मदिरातर्षम अवापाथ पुरातनम ।।
vicaran baladevo 'pi madirāgandham uttamam āghrāya madirātarṣam avāpātha purātanam ||
While wandering, Baladeva also inhaled the excellent fragrance of wine, and he experienced the ancient intoxication.

ततः कदम्बात सहसा मद्यधारां स लाङ्गली पतन्तीं वीक्ष्य मैत्रेय प्रययौ परमां मुदम ।।
tataḥ kadambāt sahasā madyadhārāṃ sa lāṅgalī patantīṃ vīkṣya maitreya prayayau paramāṃ mudam ||
Then, seeing the stream of wine suddenly falling from the Kadamba tree, he, along with Maitreya, went to experience supreme joy.

पपौ च गोपगोपीभिः समवेतो मुदान्वितः प्रगीयमानो ललितं गीतवाद्यविशारदैः ।।
papau ca gopagopībhiḥ samaveto mudānvitaḥ pragīyamāno lalitaṃ gītavādyaviśāradaiḥ ||
He drank with the cowherds and maidens, surrounded by joy, singing sweetly with skilled musicians.

स मत्तो ऽत्यन्तघर्माम्भःकणिकामौक्तिकोज्ज्वलः आगच्छ यमुने स्नातुम इच्छामीत्य आह विह्वलः ।।
sa matto 'tyantagharmāmbhaḥkaṇikāmauktikojjvalaḥ āgaccha yamune snātum icchāmīty āha vihvalaḥ ||
He, intoxicated and shining like a jewel, said, 'I wish to go to the Yamuna to bathe,' speaking in a flustered manner.

तस्य वाचं नदी सा तु मत्तोक्ताम अवमन्य वै नाजगाम ततः क्रुद्धो हलं जग्राह लाङ्गली ।।
tasya vācaṃ nadī sā tu mattoktām avamanya vai nājagāma tataḥ kruddho halaṃ jagrāha lāṅgalī ||
The river, disregarding his words, did not go; then, in anger, he seized the plow.

गृहीत्वा तां तटे तेन चकर्ष मदविह्वलः पापे नायासि नायासि गम्यताम इच्छयान्यतः ।।
gṛhītvā tāṃ taṭe tena cakarṣa madavihvalaḥ pāpe nāyāsi nāyāsi gamyatām icchayānyataḥ ||
Having taken her to the shore, he, intoxicated with pride, said, 'You will not go, you will not go; let it be as you wish.'

साकृष्टा सहसा तेन मार्गं संत्यज्य निम्नगा यत्रास्ते बलभद्रो ऽसौ प्लावयाम आस तद वनम ।।
sākṛṣṭā sahasā tena mārgaṃ saṃtyajya nimnagā yatrāste balabhadro 'sau plāvayām āsa tad vanam ||
Suddenly pulled, she abandoned the path; there, he, Balabhadra, caused the forest to flood.

शरीरिणी तथोपेत्य त्रासविह्वललोचना प्रसीदेत्य अब्रवीद रामं मुञ्च मां मुसलायुध ।।
śarīriṇī tathopetya trāsavihvalalocanā prasīdety abravīd rāmaṃ muñca māṃ musalāyudha ||
Approaching her, trembling with fear, she said to Rama, 'Be gracious, release me, O wielder of the pestle.'

सो ऽब्रवीद अवजानासि मम शौर्यबले नदि सो ऽहं त्वां हलपातेन विनेष्यामि सहस्रधा ।।
so 'bravīd avajānāsi mama śauryabale nadi so 'haṃ tvāṃ halapātena vineṣyāmi sahasradhā ||
He said, 'You disrespect my valor, O river; I will destroy you with a thousand plow strokes.'

इत्य उक्तयातिसंत्रासात तया नद्या प्रसादितः भूभागे प्लाविते तस्मिन मुमोच यमुनां बलः ।।
ity uktayātisaṃtrāsāt tayā nadyā prasāditaḥ bhūbhāge plāvite tasmin mumoca yamunāṃ balaḥ ||
Thus, frightened by her words, the mighty one released the Yamuna, which was flooded in that region.

ततः स्नातस्य वै कान्तिर आजगाम महात्मनः अवतंसोत्पलं चारु गृहीत्वैकं च कुण्डलम ।।
tataḥ snātasya vai kāntir ājagāma mahātmanaḥ avataṃsotpalaṃ cāru gṛhītvaikaṃ ca kuṇḍalam ||
Then, after bathing, the great soul's beauty arrived, holding a lovely lotus and a single earring.

वरुणप्रहितां चास्मै मालाम अम्लानपङ्कजाम समुद्राभे तथा वस्त्रे नीले लक्ष्मीर अयच्छत ।।
varuṇaprahitāṃ cāsmai mālām amlānapaṅkajām samudrābhe tathā vastre nīle lakṣmīr ayacchata ||
To him, Varuna sent a garland of unfading lotuses and also gave him blue garments adorned with Lakshmi.

कृतावतंसः स तदा चारुकुण्डलभूषितः नीलाम्बरधरः स्रग्वी शुशुभे कान्तिसंयुतः ।।
kṛtāvataṃsaḥ sa tadā cārukuṇḍalabhūṣitaḥ nīlāmbaradharaḥ sragvī śuśubhe kāntisaṃyutaḥ ||
At that time, adorned with beautiful earrings, he appeared holding a blue garment, looking splendid and full of grace.

इत्थं विभूषितो रेमे तत्र रामस तदा व्रजे मासद्वयेन यातश च पुनः स द्वारकां पुरीम ।।
itthaṃ vibhūṣito reme tatra rāmas tadā vraje māsadvayena yātaś ca punaḥ sa dvārakāṃ purīm ||
Thus adorned, Rama enjoyed there in Vraja, and after two months, he returned to the city of Dvaraka.

रेवतीं नाम तनयां रैवतस्य महीपतेः उपयेमे बलस तस्यां जज्ञाते निशठोल्मुकौ ।।
revatīṃ nāma tanayāṃ raivatasya mahīpateḥ upayeme balas tasyāṃ jajñāte niśaṭholmukau ||
Revati, the daughter of the king Raivata, was born with great strength.
