evam antar jale viṣṇum abhiṣṭūya sa yādavaḥ arcayām āsa sarveśaṃ puṣpadhūpair manomayaiḥ ||
Thus, having praised Vishnu in the water, the Yadava worshipped the Supreme Lord with mental offerings of flowers and incense.

परित्यक्तान्यविषयं मनस तत्र निवेश्य सः ब्रह्मभूते चिरं स्थित्वा विरराम समाधितः ।।
parityaktānyaviṣayaṃ manas tatra niveśya saḥ brahmabhūte ciraṃ sthitvā virarāma samādhitaḥ ||
Having abandoned all worldly desires and focusing his mind there, he remained in the state of Brahman for a long time, absorbed in meditation.

कृतकृत्यम इवात्मानं मन्यमानो महामतिः आजगाम रथं भूयो निर्गम्य यमुनाम्भसः ।।
kṛtakṛtyam ivātmānaṃ manyamāno mahāmatiḥ ājagāma rathaṃ bhūyo nirgamya yamunāmbhasaḥ ||
Considering himself accomplished, the great-minded one approached the chariot again, emerging from the waters of the Yamuna.

रामकृष्णौ च ददृशे यथापूर्वं रथे स्थितौ विस्मिताक्षस तदाक्रूरस तं च कृष्णो ऽभ्यभाषत ।।
rāmakṛṣṇau ca dadṛśe yathāpūrvaṃ rathe sthitau vismitākṣas tadākrūras taṃ ca kṛṣṇo 'bhyabhāṣata ||
Rama and Krishna were seen as before, seated in the chariot; the astonished Akrura then spoke to Krishna.

नूनं ते दृष्टम आश्चर्यम अक्रूर यमुनाजले विस्मयोत्फुल्लनयनो भवान संलक्ष्यते यतः ।।
nūnaṃ te dṛṣṭam āścaryam akrūra yamunājale vismayotphullanayano bhavān saṃlakṣyate yataḥ ||
Surely, O Akrura, you have witnessed a marvel in the waters of the Yamuna; your eyes are filled with wonder as you behold Him.

अन्तर जले यद आश्चर्यं दृष्टं तत्र मयाच्युत तद अत्रापि हि पश्यामि मूर्तिमत पुरतः स्थितम ।।
antar jale yad āścaryaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ tatra mayācyuta tad atrāpi hi paśyāmi mūrtimat purataḥ sthitam ||
In the water, I have seen a wonder, O Acyuta; I see that here too, standing before me in a form.

जगद एतन महाश्चर्यं रूपं यस्य महात्मनः तेनाश्चर्यपरेणाहं भवता कृष्ण संगतः ।।
jagad etan mahāścaryaṃ rūpaṃ yasya mahātmanaḥ tenāścaryapareṇāhaṃ bhavatā kṛṣṇa saṃgataḥ ||
This world is a great wonder, the form of that great soul; by this wondrous aspect, I am connected with you, O Krishna.

तत किम एतेन मथुरां प्रयामो मधुसूदन बिभेमि कंसाद धिग जन्म परपिण्डोपजीविनाम ।।
tat kim etena mathurāṃ prayāmo madhusūdana bibhemi kaṃsād dhig janma parapiṇḍopajīvinām ||
What then, O Madhusudana, shall we go to Mathura? I fear Kamsa; cursed is the birth of those who live on others' flesh.

इत्य उक्त्वा चोदयाम आस तान हयान वातरंहसः संप्राप्तश चातिसायाह्ने सो ऽक्रूरो मथुरां पुरीम ।।
ity uktvā codayām āsa tān hayān vātaraṃhasaḥ saṃprāptaś cātisāyāhne so 'krūro mathurāṃ purīm ||
Thus speaking, he urged the horses, the swift wind; and arriving at the midday hour, he, Akrura, reached the city of Mathura.

विलोक्य मथुरां रामं कृष्णं चाह स यादवः पद्भ्यां यातं महावीर्यौ रथेनैको विशाम्य अहम ।।
vilokya mathurāṃ rāmaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ cāha sa yādavaḥ padbhyāṃ yātaṃ mahāvīryau rathenaiko viśāmy aham ||
Seeing in Mathura Rama and Krishna, that Yadava said: 'I see them both, the great heroes, coming on a chariot.'

गन्तव्यं वसुदेवस्य न भवद्भ्यां तथा गृहम युवयोर हि कृते वृद्धः स कंसेन निरस्यते ।।
gantavyaṃ vasudevasya na bhavadbhyāṃ tathā gṛham yuvayor hi kṛte vṛddhaḥ sa kaṃsena nirasyate ||
The destination of Vasudeva is not the home of you two; indeed, the elder for your sake is rejected by Kansa.

इत्य उक्त्वा प्रविवेशाथ सो ऽक्रूरो मथुरां पुरीम प्रविष्टौ रामकृष्णौ च राजमार्गम उपागतौ ।।
ity uktvā praviveśātha so 'krūro mathurāṃ purīm praviṣṭau rāmakṛṣṇau ca rājamārgam upāgatau ||
Having spoken thus, that Akroora entered the city of Mathura; Rama and Krishna also entered the royal road.

स्त्रीभिर नरैश च सानन्दं लोचनैर अभिवीक्षितौ जग्मतुर लीलया वीरौ मत्तौ बालगजाव इव ।।
strībhir naraiś ca sānandaṃ locanair abhivīkṣitau jagmatur līlayā vīrau mattau bālagajāv iva ||
Gazed upon by women and men with joyful eyes, the two heroes, intoxicated, moved playfully like young elephants.

भ्रममाणौ तु तौ दृष्ट्वा रजकं रङ्गकारकम अयाचेतां सुरूपाणि वासांसि रुचिराननौ ।।
bhramamāṇau tu tau dṛṣṭvā rajakaṃ raṅgakārakam ayācetāṃ surūpāṇi vāsāṃsi rucirānanau ||
Seeing them wandering, the washerman, a performer of plays, requested them for beautiful garments with charming faces.

कंसस्य रजकः सो ऽथ प्रसादारूढविस्मयः बहून्य आक्षेपवाक्यानि प्राहोच्चै रामकेशवौ ।।
kaṃsasya rajakaḥ so 'tha prasādārūḍhavismayaḥ bahūny ākṣepavākyāni prāhoccai rāmakeśavau ||
The washerman of Kansa, then astonished by the grace, loudly spoke many reproachful words to Rama and Keshava.

ततस तलप्रहारेण कृष्णस तस्य दुरात्मनः पातयाम आस कोपेन रजकस्य शिरो भुवि ।।
tatas talaprahāreṇa kṛṣṇas tasya durātmanaḥ pātayām āsa kopena rajakasya śiro bhuvi ||
Then, Krishna, with a blow from his palm, struck the head of that wicked one, the washerman, to the ground in anger.

हत्वादाय च वस्त्राणि पीतनीलाम्बरौ ततः कृष्णरामौ मुदा युक्तौ मालाकारगृहं गतौ ।।
hatvādāya ca vastrāṇi pītanīlāmbarau tataḥ kṛṣṇarāmau mudā yuktau mālākāragṛhaṃ gatau ||
After killing him and taking his clothes, Krishna and Rama, filled with joy, went to the house of the florist.

विकासिनेत्रयुगलो मालाकारो ऽपि विस्मितः एतौ कस्य कुतो वैतौ मैत्रेयाचिन्तयत ततः ।।
vikāsinetrayugalo mālākāro 'pi vismitaḥ etau kasya kuto vaitau maitreyācintayat tataḥ ||
The florist, astonished at the two radiant-eyed ones, thought, 'Who are these two and where have they come from?'

पीतनीलाम्बरधरौ तौ दृष्ट्वातिमनोहरौ स तर्कयाम आस तदा भुवं देवाव उपागतौ ।।
pītanīlāmbaradharau tau dṛṣṭvātimanoharau sa tarkayām āsa tadā bhuvaṃ devāv upāgatau ||
Seeing those two, who were adorned in yellow and blue garments and were extremely charming, he began to ponder about them.

विकासिमुखपद्माभ्यां ताभ्यां पुष्पाणि याचितः भुवं विष्टभ्य हस्ताभ्यां पस्पर्श शिरसा महीम ।।
vikāsimukhapadmābhyāṃ tābhyāṃ puṣpāṇi yācitaḥ bhuvaṃ viṣṭabhya hastābhyāṃ pasparśa śirasā mahīm ||
Having requested flowers from them with lotus-like faces, he touched the earth with his hands and bowed his head.

प्रसादपरमौ नाथौ मम गेहम उपागतौ धन्यो ऽहम अर्चयिष्यामीत्य आह तौ माल्यजीवकः ।।
prasādaparamau nāthau mama geham upāgatau dhanyo 'ham arcayiṣyāmīty āha tau mālyajīvakaḥ ||
The supreme lords have come to my home; I am blessed. I will worship them, said the garland-maker.

ततः प्रहृष्टवदनस तयोः पुष्पाणि कामतः चारूण्य एतान्य अथैतानि प्रददौ स विलोभयन ।।
tataḥ prahṛṣṭavadanas tayoḥ puṣpāṇi kāmataḥ cārūṇy etāny athaitāni pradadau sa vilobhayan ||
Then, with joyful faces, they gave beautiful flowers as desired, while he admired these and those.

पुनः पुनः प्रणम्यासौ मालाकारो नरोत्तमौ ददौ पुष्पाणि चारूणि गन्धवन्त्य अमलानि च ।।
punaḥ punaḥ praṇamyāsau mālākāro narottamau dadau puṣpāṇi cārūṇi gandhavanty amalāni ca ||
Again and again, the garland-maker, bowing down, offered beautiful and fragrant flowers to the best of men.

मालाकाराय कृष्णो ऽपि प्रसन्नः प्रददौ वरम श्रीस त्वां मत्संश्रया भद्र न कदाचित त्यजिष्यति ।।
mālākārāya kṛṣṇo 'pi prasannaḥ pradadau varam śrīs tvāṃ matsaṃśrayā bhadra na kadācit tyajiṣyati ||
Even Krishna was pleased with the garland-maker and granted him a boon: 'May you never forsake me, O auspicious one.'

बलहानिर न ते सौम्य धनहानिस तथैव च यावद दिनानि तावच च न नशिष्यति संततिः ।।
balahānir na te saumya dhanahānis tathaiva ca yāvad dināni tāvac ca na naśiṣyati saṃtatiḥ ||
O gentle one, loss of strength and wealth will not occur as long as the days continue; the lineage will not perish.

भुक्त्वा च भोगान विपुलांस त्वम अन्ते मत्प्रसादजम ममानुस्मरणं प्राप्य दिव्यं लोकम अवाप्स्यसि ।।
bhuktvā ca bhogān vipulāṃs tvam ante matprasādajam mamānusmaraṇaṃ prāpya divyaṃ lokam avāpsyasi ||
Having enjoyed abundant pleasures, at the end, by My grace, remembering Me, you will attain the divine realm.

धर्मे मनश च ते भद्र सर्वकालं भविष्यति युष्मत्संततिजातानां दीर्घम आयुर भविष्यति ।।
dharme manaś ca te bhadra sarvakālaṃ bhaviṣyati yuṣmatsaṃtatijātānāṃ dīrgham āyur bhaviṣyati ||
Your mind will always be auspicious in righteousness, and your descendants will have a long life.

नोपसर्गादिकं दोषं युष्मत्संततिसंभवः संप्राप्स्यति महाभाग यावत सूर्यो भविष्यति ।।
nopasargādikaṃ doṣaṃ yuṣmatsaṃtatisaṃbhavaḥ saṃprāpsyati mahābhāga yāvat sūryo bhaviṣyati ||
O fortunate one, you will not suffer any affliction as long as the sun exists.

इत्य उक्त्वा तद्गृहात कृष्णो बलदेवसहायवान निर्जगाम मुनिश्रेष्ठ मालाकारेण पूजितः ।।
ity uktvā tadgṛhāt kṛṣṇo baladevasahāyavān nirjagāma muniśreṣṭha mālākāreṇa pūjitaḥ ||
Thus speaking, Krishna, accompanied by Baladeva, left the house, honored by the foremost sage.
