cintayann iti govindam upagamya sa yādavaḥ akrūro 'smīti caraṇau nanāma śirasā hareḥ ||
Thinking of Govinda, the Yadava approached and bowed his head at the feet of the Lord, saying, 'I am Akrura.'

He also, having touched him with his hand marked by the flag and thunderbolt, affectionately embraced him tightly.

Having performed the proper salutations, they joyfully entered the inner sanctum, taking him along.

Thus, at that time, Akrura, having performed the necessary salutations, explained to them, as is just, what they had eaten.

As Kansa is rebuked by the demon Anakadundubhi, so also is the goddess Devaki by the wicked demon.

ugrasene yathā kaṃsaḥ sudurātmā ca vartate yaṃ caivārthaṃ samuddiśya sa kaṃsena visarjitaḥ ||
Just as Kansa, the very wicked soul, acts under Ugrasena, he who is cast off by Kansa is indicated for that purpose.

tat sarvaṃ vistarāc chrutvā bhagavān keśisūdanaḥ uvācākhilam apy etaj jñātaṃ dānapate mayā ||
Hearing all this in detail, the Lord Keshisudana spoke, 'I have known all this, O lord of charity.'

kariṣye ca mahābhāga yad atraupayikaṃ matam vicintyaṃ nānyathaitat te viddhi kaṃsaṃ hataṃ mayā ||
I shall do, O great one, what is here suggested; know that Kansa has been killed by me, having thought it over.

ahaṃ rāmaś ca mathurāṃ śvo yāsyāvaḥ samaṃ tvayā gopavṛddhāś ca yāsyanti hy ādāyopāyanaṃ bahu ||
I, along with Rama, will go to Mathura tomorrow, and the elder gopas will also go, taking many offerings.

O hero, do not worry; within three nights, I will kill Kansa along with my companions.

After instructing the gopas, Akrura, along with Krishna, fell asleep in the house of Nanda.

tataḥ prabhāte vimale kṛṣṇarāmau mahāmatī akrūreṇa samaṃ gantum udyatau mathurāṃ prati ||
Then, in the clear morning, Krishna and Rama, the wise ones, prepared to go to Mathura with Akrura.

Seeing the gopis in tears, with their loose arms, deeply distressed, he sighed and spoke to them.

mathurāṃ prāpya govindaḥ kathaṃ gokulam eṣyati nāgarastrīkalālāpamadhu śrotreṇa pāsyati ||
Having reached Mathura, how will Govinda go to Gokula? The sweet words of the city women will reach his ears.

How will his mind, having been captivated by the sweet words of the city women, return again to the village gopis?

sāraṃ samastagoṣṭhasya vidhinā haratā harim prahṛtaṃ gopayoṣitsu nirghṛṇena durātmanā ||
The essence of the entire herd is taken away by the wicked one, who has been driven by the divine will towards the cowherd women.

The words, imbued with emotion, and the graceful movements of the city women are indeed very captivating, even when seen with a sidelong glance.

grāmyo harir ayaṃ tāsāṃ vilāsanigaḍair yutaḥ bhavatīnāṃ punaḥ pārśvaṃ kayā yuktyā sameṣyati ||
This village hero, surrounded by the charming women, how will he again approach your side?

eṣaeṣa ratham āruhya mathurāṃ yāti keśavaḥ krūreṇākrūrakeṇātra nirāśena pratāritaḥ ||
Keshava, having mounted this chariot, goes to Mathura, driven by the cruel Akroora, who is despondent.

kiṃ na vetti nṛśaṃso 'yam anurāgaparaṃ janam yenemam akṣṇor āhlādaṃ nayaty anyatra no harim ||
Does this cruel one not know the deeply affectionate people, who, with their eyes, lead him away from the Lord elsewhere?

eṣa rāmeṇa sahitaḥ prayāty atyantanirghṛṇaḥ ratham āruhya govindas tvaryatām asya vāraṇe ||
This one, along with Rama, is proceeding, extremely compassionate, having mounted the chariot; let Govinda hasten in this matter.

What do you say to the preceptors, is it not permissible for us? What can the teachers do for those burnt by the fire of separation?

The cowherds, led by Nanda, are eager to go; no one makes an effort to turn back Govinda.

From the early morning until night, the women of Mathura gaze upon the lotus face of Achyuta, whose eyes are like streaks of black.

dhanyās te pathi ye kṛṣṇam ito yānty anivāritāḥ udvahiṣyanti paśyantaḥ svadehaṃ pulakāñcitam ||
Blessed are those who travel on the path to Krishna without obstruction; they will carry their own bodies adorned with goosebumps.

The great festival of the people of Mathura will be seen today by the eyes of Govinda's devotees.

Who has not seen in a dream the Lord Adhokṣaja, whose eyes are like the expansive beauty that will be seen without obstruction?

Alas, having shown this great treasure to the gopis, the compassionate creator has lifted their eyes here.

By love, the laxity in us, while going to Hari, quickly approaches even the rings on the hands.

akrūraḥ krūrahṛdayaḥ śīghraṃ prerayate hayān evam ārtāsu yoṣitsu ghṛṇā kasya na jāyate ||
Akrura, with a cruel heart, quickly urges the horses; in this way, who does not feel compassion for the distressed women?

eṣa kṛṣṇarathasyoccaiś cakrareṇur nirīkṣyatām dūrībhūto harir yena so 'pi reṇur na lakṣyate ||
This is the dust of the chariot of Krishna; look, Hari is so far away that even this dust is not visible.

ity evam atihārdena gopījananirīkṣitaḥ tatyāja vrajabhūbhāgaṃ saha rāmeṇa keśavaḥ ||
Thus, being observed by the gopis, Keshava, along with Rama, left the land of Vraja.

While going to the bank of the Yamuna on a swift chariot, they reached there at noon: Rama, Akrura, and Janardana.

athāha kṛṣṇam akrūro bhavadbhyāṃ tāvad āsyatām yāvat karomi kālindyām āhnikārhaṇam ambhasi ||
Then Akrūra said to Krishna, 'Please eat until I perform the ritual offering in the Kālindī river.'

tathety uktas tataḥ snātaḥ svācāntaḥ sa mahāmatiḥ dadhyau brahma paraṃ vipra praviśya yamunājale ||
Thus instructed, the great-minded one bathed and, having purified himself, thought of the supreme Brahman while entering the waters of the Yamunā.

He saw Balabhadra adorned with a thousand hoods, with a beautiful lotus-like form and red eyes like blooming lotus petals.

Surrounded by great beings like Vasuki and others, praised by the Gandharvas, the forest was adorned with garlands.

Wearing dark garments, he held a beautiful lotus-like bird, with charming earrings, intoxicated, situated beneath the water's surface.

In his embrace, he is dark as a cloud, with reddish eyes, four-armed, of noble form, adorned with the discus and other weapons.

Wearing a yellow garment, adorned with a colorful garland, like the water of a cloud, he appears with the bow of Indra.

śrīvatsavakṣasaṃ cārukeyūramukuṭojjvalam dadarśa kṛṣṇam akliṣṭaṃ puṇḍarīkāvataṃsakam ||
He saw Krishna, adorned with the mark of Srivatsa on his chest, with beautiful armlets and a shining crown, untroubled and resembling a lotus.

sanandanādyair munibhiḥ siddhayogair akalmaṣaiḥ vicintyamānaṃ tatrasthair nāsāgranyastalocanaiḥ ||
The sages like Sanandana, with pure yogic powers, contemplated him there, with their eyes fixed at the tip of their noses.

balakṛṣṇau tathākrūraḥ pratyabhijñāya vismitaḥ so 'cintayad rathāc chīghraṃ katham atrāgatāv iti ||

You are the essence of all, O unborn one; this entire universe is you alone. You are the universal soul, devoid of any transformation; indeed, there is nothing else apart from you.

You are Brahma, the Lord of Beasts, Aryama, the Creator, the Sustainer; you are the Lord of the Gods, the Wind, Fire, the Lord of Waters, the Lord of Wealth, and Death; you alone sustain the world with diverse powers.

viśvaṃ bhavān sṛjati sūryagabhastirūpo viśvaṃ ca te guṇamayo 'yam aja prapañcaḥ rūpaṃ paraṃ sad iti vācakam akṣaraṃ yaj jñānātmane sadasate praṇato 'smi tasmai ||
You, O Lord, create the universe in the form of the sun's radiance; this universe is indeed filled with your qualities. The ultimate form is the imperishable, and I bow to that knowledge-embodied reality.

Om, I bow to Vasudeva, I bow to Sankarshana; I bow to Pradyumna, and I bow to Aniruddha.
