tārāmayaṃ bhagavataḥ śiśumārākṛti prabhoḥ divi rūpaṃ harer yat tu tasya pucche sthito dhruvaḥ ||
The form of the Lord, resembling the constellation of stars, is indeed the fixed star, Dhruva, which is situated at the tail of the divine fish.

This one, wandering, causes the planets like the Moon and the Sun to wander; the stars follow it in a circular motion.

The Sun, the Moon, and the stars are bound together with the planets by the ties of the winds; they are indeed bound to Dhruva.

śiśumārākṛti proktaṃ yad rūpaṃ jyotiṣāṃ divi || nārāyaṇo 'yanaṃ dhāmnāṃ tasyādhāraḥ svayaṃ hṛdi ||
The form resembling the divine fish is said to be the light of the celestial bodies; Narayana is the support of that abode in the heart.

The son of Uttanapada, having worshipped the lord of the universe, Dhruva, is situated at the tail of the constellation of the Great Bear.

Listen, O Brahmin, to the arrangement made by me with a single mind: Vivasvan, taking water mixed with flavors for eight months, rains down, and from that, food sustains the entire world.

विवस्वान अंशुभिस तीक्ष्णैर आदाय जगतो जलम सोमे मुञ्चत्य अथेन्दुश च वायुनाडीमयैर दिवि नालैर विक्षिपते ऽभ्रेषु धूमाग्न्यनिलमूर्तिषु ।।
vivasvān aṃśubhis tīkṣṇair ādāya jagato jalam some muñcaty athenduś ca vāyunāḍīmayair divi nālair vikṣipate 'bhreṣu dhūmāgnyanilamūrtiṣu ||
Vivasvan, taking sharp rays, brings water to the world; the moon releases it, and the wind carries it in the sky, scattering it among the clouds, smoke, fire, and air forms.

na bhraśyanti yatas tebhyo jalāny abhrāṇi tāny ataḥ abhrasthāḥ prapatanty āpo vāyunā samudīritāḥ saṃskāraṃ kālajanitaṃ maitreyāsādya nirmalāḥ ||
The waters that fall from the clouds do not perish; they are carried by the wind and descend as pure, untainted by time, Maitreya.

The rivers, oceans, and earth are indeed born of living beings; the Lord, in four forms, grants life, O sage.

Taking the waters of the celestial Ganges, the radiant sun immediately casts its rays upon the earth.

tasya saṃsparśanirdhūtapāpapaṅko dvijottama na yāti narakaṃ martyo divyaṃ snānaṃ hi tat smṛtam ||
A twice-born person, whose sins are washed away by mere touch, does not go to hell; this divine bath is indeed remembered.

dṛṣṭasūryaṃ hi yad vāri pataty abhrair vinā divaḥ ākāśagaṅgāsalilaṃ tad gobhiḥ kṣipyate raveḥ ||
The waters that fall from the sun are not seen without clouds; the celestial Ganges' waters are cast down by the cows of the sun.

kṛttikādiṣu ṛkṣeṣu viṣameṣv ambu yad divaḥ dṛṣṭārkaṃ patitaṃ jñeyaṃ tad gāṅgaṃ diggajojjhitam ||
In the constellation of Krittika, among the stars, the water that falls from the sky, when seen as the sun descends, is known as the Ganga, which is freed from the elephant's grasp.

युग्मर्क्षेषु तु यत तोयं पतत्य अर्कोज्झितं दिवः तत सूर्यरश्मिभिः सद्यः समादाय निरस्यते ।।
yugmarkṣeṣu tu yat toyaṃ pataty arkojjhitaṃ divaḥ tat sūryaraśmibhiḥ sadyaḥ samādāya nirasyate ||
In the pair of stars, the water that falls is the sun released from the sky; it is immediately taken by the sun's rays and rendered ineffective.

ubhayaṃ puṇyam atyarthaṃ nṛṇāṃ pāpaharaṃ dvija ākāśagaṅgāsalilaṃ divyaṃ snānaṃ mahāmune ||
Both are extremely virtuous for humans, removing sins; the divine water of the Akash Ganga is a great bath for the sage.

yat tu meghaiḥ samutsṛṣṭaṃ vāri tat prāṇināṃ dvija puṣṇāty oṣadhayaḥ sarvā jīvanāyāmṛtaṃ hi tat ||
The water that is released by the clouds, O Brahmin, nourishes all plants and is indeed the nectar of life for living beings.

tena vṛddhiṃ parāṃ nītaḥ salilenauṣadhīgaṇaḥ sādhakaḥ phalapākāntaḥ prajānāṃ dvija jāyate ||
Through this, the plants are brought to great growth by the water, and the practitioner, who is devoted to the ripening of fruits, is born among the people.

Thus, the sacrifices, the Vedas, and the varnas, all originating from the twice-born, along with all the groups of deities and the assemblies of living beings, exist.

All food is produced by the rain, which is generated by the sun; thus, the rain is also produced by the sun, O best of the sages.

In the heart of that fish, Narayana resides, sustaining all beings; he is the original being, eternal.
