This expansion has been described by me about the earth; it is said to be seventy thousand, even the twice-born.

daśasāhasram ekaikaṃ pātālaṃ munisattama atalaṃ vitalaṃ caiva nitalaṃ ca gabhastimat mahākhyaṃ sutalaṃ cāgryaṃ pātālaṃ cāpi saptamam ||
Ten million are each of the nether worlds, O best of sages: Atala, Vitala, Nitala, and the radiant one, Mahākhya, Sutala, and the seventh, Pātāla.

White, black, red, yellow, and sugar-like are the lands adorned with splendid palaces, O Maitreya.

Where the rays of the sun do not scorch, and the moonlight does not cool the night, only light prevails.

The forests, rivers, and beautiful lakes adorned with lotuses, the calls of the male cuckoo, and the delightful skies.

The ornaments are very pure, the fragrant unguents, the sounds of veena, flute, and mridangam, and the musical instruments of the twice-born.

These and other fortunate enjoyments are consumed by the demons and serpents who dwell in the netherworld.

Below the netherworld, there exists the tamasic body of Vishnu, known as Shesha, whose qualities the demons and danavas cannot describe.

yo 'nantaḥ paṭhyate siddhair devadevarṣipūjitaḥ sahasraśirasā vyaktasvastikāmalabhūṣaṇaḥ ||
He who is infinite is chanted by the perfected beings, worshipped by the gods and sages, with a thousand heads, manifesting as the auspicious lotus ornament.

He who illuminates all directions with a thousand hoods, renders all asuras powerless for the welfare of the world.

He, with eyes intoxicated by pride, always adorned with a single earring, wearing a crown and garland, shines like a white mountain with fire.

Dressed in blue, sprinkled with nectar, adorned with a white garland, he is like a lofty mountain with the Ganges flowing from it.

Holding a plough in his hand, wielding a supreme mace, he is worshipped by the beautiful one, in the form of Varuna.

kalpānte yasya vaktrebhyo viṣānalaśikhojjvalaḥ saṃkarṣaṇātmako rudro niṣkramyātti jagattrayam ||
At the end of the kalpa, from whose mouth the fiery tongue emerges, he, who is the essence of Sankarshana, causes the three worlds to exit.

He who bears the crown, the entire earth, resides at the root of the Patala, worshipped by countless gods.

His valor, glory, form, and beauty cannot be described or understood even by the gods.

When the infinite one, with eyes intoxicated by pride, yawns, this earth trembles, as if it were a woman in labor.

The Gandharvas, Apsaras, Siddhas, Kinnaras, and Nagas do not reach the end of his qualities; thus, this infinite one is imperishable.

Whose hands, like those of a serpent maiden, are adorned with sandalwood, the breath of the wind continually goes to the directions where he resides.

The sage Garg, who is worshipped, has understood the essence of the lights, and has known all the fruits derived from the scriptures.

This earth, held by the great serpent, bears the garland of all worlds, including gods, demons, and humans.
