The lord created the lord of Pushkara and also the Savana; Agnidhra, the best of sages, was the lord of Jambudvipa, and his sons were nine, equal to the Prajapati.

Nabhi, the Kimpurusha, and Harivarsha, Ilavrta, were charming; Hiranyavan, the sixth, and Kurur, and Bhadrashva, and Ketumala, were also good kings.

In those fields, there is no age condition in the eight periods; however, the year called Himāhvaya was present, and from it, a son of great radiance was born to the great soul.

From Ṛṣabha, Bharata was born, the eldest of a hundred sons. He ruled the kingdom according to his own dharma and performed various sacrifices.

Anointing his son, the valiant Bharata, the king of the earth went to the hermitage of Pulaha, being a great ascetic.

By the rules of the hermit life, he made a firm resolution there and performed penance according to justice, the king of the earth.

तपसा कर्षितो ऽत्यर्थं कृशो धमनिसंततः नग्नो वीटां मुखे दत्त्वा वीराध्वानं ततो गतः ।।
tapasā karṣito 'tyarthaṃ kṛśo dhamanisaṃtataḥ nagno vīṭāṃ mukhe dattvā vīrādhvānaṃ tato gataḥ ||
By intense penance, he became extremely emaciated, and having given up his clothes, he then went to the path of the heroes.

Then, in this world, the land of Bharat is sung, for the forest was given to Bharata by his father.

Sumati, the son of Bharata, was a highly righteous person. Having performed well, his father, the great sacrifice, gave him the kingdom.
