evaṃ saṃcintayan viṣṇum abhedenātmano dvija tanmayatvam avāpāgryaṃ mene cātmānam acyutam ||
Thus contemplating Vishnu, the twice-born realized the oneness of the self and attained the state of being absorbed in Him, considering himself as the imperishable.

He forgot his own self and knew nothing else. He contemplated that I am the imperishable, the infinite, the supreme self.

tasya tadbhāvanāyogāt kṣīṇapāpasya vai kramāt śuddhe 'ntaḥkaraṇe viṣṇus tasthau jñānamayo 'cyutaḥ ||
Due to the practice of that contemplation, the sins of the one who had diminished were gradually reduced, and in the pure mind, Vishnu, the imperishable, remained as knowledge.

yogaprabhāvāt prahlāde jāte viṣṇumaye 'sure calaty uragabandhais tair maitreya truṭitaṃ kṣaṇāt ||
By the power of yoga, in Prahlada, who was born as a demon, Vishnu moved, bound by serpents, and in an instant, Maitreya, it was broken.

He, the great-minded one, threw the water above the mountain mass that was placed by the demons and then departed from there.

Seeing this, Prahlada remembered, 'I am indeed this universe,' and recognized his own self through his own self.

The wise one praised again the eternal Supreme Being, with a focused mind, undistracted, controlling his speech, body, and mind.

Om, I bow to the ultimate truth, the gross and subtle, the perishable and imperishable, beyond manifestation and non-manifestation, the all-pervading, the untainted.

He who is the essence of qualities, the supporter of qualities, the formless soul, the embodiment of forms, the great form, the subtle form, the manifest and unmanifest.

He who embodies both the terrifying and the gentle, the essence of knowledge and ignorance, the form of existence and non-existence, and the essence of existence.

He who is eternal and transient, the essence of the universe, the pure refuge beyond the universe, to You, the one and many, we bow, O cause of Vāsudeva.

yaḥ sthūlasūkṣmaḥ prakaṭaprakāśo yaḥ sarvabhūto na ca sarvabhūtaḥ viśvaṃ yataś caitad aviśvahetor namo 'stu tasmai puruṣottamāya ||
He who is both gross and subtle, the manifest light, who is in all beings yet not in all beings, to that supreme person, I bow.

When the deity of his mind was praised thus, the Lord, who wears the yellow garment, appeared.

sasaṃbhramas tam ālokya samutthāyākulākṣaram namo 'stu viṣṇavaity etad vyājahārāsakṛd dvija ||
Having seen that person in confusion, I rise, O learned one, and bow to Vishnu, who has spoken this.

O Keshava, grant me your grace, the remover of the distress of those who surrender, and by your glance, purify me again.

I am pleased with those who perform devotion without deviation; may the boon desired by Prahlada be granted to me.

O Lord, in the countless wombs into which I enter, may there always be unwavering devotion to you.

May the love that is untainted by discrimination, which arises from remembering you, not depart from my heart.

mayi bhaktis tavāsty eva bhūyo 'py evaṃ bhaviṣyati varaś ca mattaḥ prahlāda vriyatāṃ yas tavepsitaḥ ||
Devotion to You exists, and it will continue to be so in the future. May the boon that Prahlada desires from You be granted.

śastrāṇi pātitāny aṅge kṣipto yac cāgnisaṃhatau daṃśitaś coragair dattaṃ yad viṣaṃ mama bhojane ||
The weapons that have fallen on my body, and that which was given by the serpents, and the poison in my food, may they be removed.

baddhvā samudre yat kṣipto yac cito 'smi śiloccayaiḥ anyāni cāpy asādhūni yāni pitrā kṛtāni me ||
Bound in the ocean, whatever has been thrown, and whatever I have been made to collect from the mountains, may all the other sinful deeds done by my ancestors be removed.

tvayi bhaktimato dveṣād aghaṃ tatsaṃbhavaṃ ca yat tvatprasādāt prabho sadyas tena mucyeta me pitā ||
By your devotion, the sin that arises from enmity and its cause may be removed; by Your grace, O Lord, may my father be liberated immediately.

Prahlada, all this will happen to you by my grace. I also grant you another boon; may you be revered, O son of the demon.

I am fulfilled, O Lord, by this boon that you have given. By your grace, devotion will be unwavering.

dharmārthakāmaiḥ kiṃ tasya muktis tasya kare sthitā samastajagatāṃ mūle yasya bhaktiḥ sthirā tvayi ||
What is liberation for one who is established in righteousness, wealth, and desire? For whom devotion is firm at the root of the entire universe.

As your mind becomes steady, endowed with devotion to me, so you will attain the supreme liberation by my grace.

ity uktvāntardadhe viṣṇus tasya maitreya paśyataḥ sa cāpi punar āgamya vavande caraṇau pituḥ ||
Having spoken thus, Vishnu disappeared. O Maitreya, he also returned and bowed at the feet of his father.

taṃ pitā mūrdhny upāghrāya pariṣvajya ca pīḍitam jīvasīty āha vatseti bāṣpārdranayano dvija ||
The father, having embraced him and smelling his head, said, 'You live,' and called him 'calf,' with eyes moist with tears.

prītimāṃś cābhavat tasminn anutāpī mahāsuraḥ gurupitroś cakāraivaṃ śuśrūṣāṃ so 'pi dharmavit ||
In him, the great demon felt joy and regret, and he performed such service to his guru and father, being knowledgeable in dharma.

pitary uparatiṃ nīte narasiṃhasvarūpiṇā viṣṇunā so 'pi daityānāṃ maitreyābhūt patis tataḥ ||
When the father was pacified by the form of Narasimha, Vishnu also became the lord of the demons, who had become friendly.

tadrājyabhūtiṃ saṃprāpya karmaśuddhikarīṃ dvija putrapautrāṃś ca subahūn avāpyaiśvaryam eva ca ||
Having attained that royal status, the twice-born, purifying through actions, obtained great wealth along with sons and grandsons.

क्षीणाधिकारः स यदा पुण्यपापविवर्जितः तदासौ भगवद्ध्यानात परं निर्वाणम आप्तवान ।।
kṣīṇādhikāraḥ sa yadā puṇyapāpavivarjitaḥ tadāsau bhagavaddhyānāt paraṃ nirvāṇam āptavān ||
When his authority diminished, being free from sin and virtue, he attained the supreme liberation through the meditation on the Lord.

evaṃprabhāvo daityo 'sau maitreyāsīn mahāmatiḥ prahlādo bhagavadbhakto yaṃ tvaṃ mām anupṛcchasi ||
Thus, that great-minded demon Prahlada, who is a devotee of the Lord, is the one you ask me about.

यस त्व एतच चरितं तस्य प्रह्लादस्य महात्मनः शृणोति तस्य पापानि सद्यो गच्छन्ति संक्षयम ।।
yas tv etac caritaṃ tasya prahlādasya mahātmanaḥ śṛṇoti tasya pāpāni sadyo gacchanti saṃkṣayam ||
Whoever hears the story of that great-souled Prahlada, his sins are immediately destroyed.

अहोरात्रकृतं पापं प्रह्लादचरितं नरः शृण्वन पठंश च मैत्रेय व्यपोहति न संशयः ।।
ahorātrakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ prahlādacaritaṃ naraḥ śṛṇvan paṭhaṃś ca maitreya vyapohati na saṃśayaḥ ||
A person who hears or recites the story of Prahlada, day and night, certainly removes all sins, without a doubt.

पौर्णमास्याम अमावास्याम अष्टम्याम अथ वा पठन द्वादश्यां वा तद आप्नोति गोप्रदानफलं द्विज ।।
paurṇamāsyām amāvāsyām aṣṭamyām atha vā paṭhan dvādaśyāṃ vā tad āpnoti gopradānaphalaṃ dvija ||
On the full moon, new moon, or the eighth day, or on the twelfth day, one who reads this will attain the result of giving a cow.

प्रह्लादं सकलापत्सु यथा रक्षितवान हरिः तथा रक्षति यस तस्य शृणोति चरितं सदा ।।
prahlādaṃ sakalāpatsu yathā rakṣitavān hariḥ tathā rakṣati yas tasya śṛṇoti caritaṃ sadā ||
Just as the Lord protected Prahlada among all beings, he who always hears this story is likewise protected.
