May the Somas be slow for you; perform, O Rādha and mountain folk, and strike down the foes of Brahman.

A jAgR^ivirvipra R^itAM matInA.N somaH punAno asadachchamUShu | sapanti yaM mithunAso nikAmA adhvaryavo rathirAsaH suhastAH
Awake, O seer, O brahman; Soma, the purifier, removes untruths. The paired ones seek him—priests, charioteers, and skillful hands.

He places the purified Soma near the sun; they bring both to the unbroken splendor. Beloved is his beloved; the good wealth of the pious is not taken away.

sa vardhitA vardhanaH pUyamAnaH somo mIDhvA.N abhi no jyotiShAvIt | yatra naH pUrve pitaraH padaj~nAH svarvido abhi gA adrimiShNan
That Soma, nourished, increasing, the sweetener, becomes our luminous guide of light; where our ancient, knowing fathers, masters of heaven, approached with songs and mountain‑like might.

Do not now contest, O friends, do not be angry. Indra’s hymns praise the Vrishnas; the young son repeatedly praises the praised.

avakrakShiNaM vR^iShabhaM yathA juvaM gAM na charShaNIsaham | vidveShaNa.N saMvananamubhaya~NkaraM ma.NhiShThamubhayAvinam
Like a bull with crooked horns that does not butt the cow that yields milk, so he, resisting hatred and praise alike, bears both greatness and abasement without rejoicing.

udu tye madhumattamA gira stomAsa Irate | satrAjito dhanasA akShitotayo vAjanto rathA iva
He uprose like sweetest honey; the hymn rejoiced. Victorious in war, rich in wealth, the two-eyed ones moved like chariots rejoicing.

kaNvA iva bhR^igavaH sUryA iva vishvamiddhItamAshata | indra.N stomebhirmahayanta AyavaH priyamedhAso asvaran
Like Kanva are the Bhrigus, like the Sun they spread the proclaimed praise. They glorified Indra with hymns; the youthful, wise, beloved ones made splendid offerings.

Round about the bow for the mighty strike, around the foes he smote the Vrtra-like ones; hostile in anger, with settled resolve he did not avert repayment of debt.

The purifier indeed led forth the sun with vigor; with might he bore the waters. Roaring like a herd of cows, he sped forth, O Purandhi (slayer of foes).

Like the sun the rays melted; the new-born rivals were born together and fought. The cords and all the strands, like horses, speed forth—what abode flies like the thunder-god?

upo matiH pR^ichyate sichyate madhu mandrAjanI chodate antarAsani | pavamAnaH santaniH sunvatAmiva madhumAndrapsaH pari vAramarShati
A thought is asked, honey is sprinkled, the gentle night urges within chamber. The purifier, offspring, like the singers, rejoices; honeyed desire drives around for its turn.

ukShA mimeti prati yanti dhenavo devasya devIrupa yanti niShkR^itam | atyakramIdarjunaM vAramavyayamatkaM na niktaM pari somo avyata
The cows go forth toward these shelters; they become like divine maidens brought out. Having passed Arjuna’s transgression, the endless boon was not cast away; Soma did not decline around it.

Man kindled Agni in forests with rituals; the fallen in hand produced the excellent. He generated a distant-seen householder famed.

tamagnimaste vasavo nyR^iNvantsupratichakShamavase kutashchit | dakShAyyo yo dama Asa nityaH
To that Agni the Vasus sing, they praised the eye of readiness; who is there unrestrained? For Daksha was he who upheld control always.

Forward, Agni, shine brightly for us in the front with steadfast refuge, radiant and mighty. The strong bulls approach you continually.

Within moves the radiance of the bright one; from breath he drinks and goes forth. The bull declares the heaven.

Thirty abodes shine forth; speech’s bird is praised. As the dawn spreads, the heavens resound.
