They, the first named among men, the threefold cattle, sevenfold supreme among people—those ones knew and maintained reverence; the ruddy ones appeared, renowned were the cows.

May glory be to heaven and earth, to Indra and Brihaspati; may glory come to Bhaga; may glory not be taken from me. May I be declared ever in the fame of her gloriousness.

The Purusha rose up on three feet; his foot here became again. Thus he pervaded the worlds, moving forth, consuming the ten mouths.

This Purusha is all that was and that which will be. All beings are his feet; the immortal portion of the three‑footed one is in heaven.

Such is his greatness; greater parts belongs to the Purusha. He is the lord of immortality to whom food ascends by this sacrifice.

Indra gave a thousand, he granted wealth and lordship of his great might; make our sacrifice not feeble, our ancient strength and vigor in battle against the enemies of Vrtra—do this for us.
