O Agni, come hither for the sacrifice; we invoke you as the giver of oblations. Be present as the priest with the sacred grass.

O Agni, you are the household‑lord, you are the priest at the entrance. You are the guest, the protector of the universe, the invoker; you who go and bring the oblation.

Born by superior righteousness, grown with the clans, father was Kashyapa’s Agni, devotion the mother, Manu the sage was the seer.

If one among you would say ‘Brahman,’ then around all were poetic laws like a wheel of appointed ordinances.

When the lord (Vispati) was cool and pleased, men were joyful; the all-Agnis attend and establish protections.
