upamanyuruvAca ॥ athAvirabhavattatra sanAdaM zabdalakSaNam ॥ omityekAkSaraM brahma brahmaNaH pratipAdakam ॥ 1 ॥
Upamanyu said:— Then there manifested the single-syllabled Brahman in the characteristic way o ॥ ?॥ a word with its sound ‘Om’. It expressed the Brahman.

तदप्यविदितं तावद्ब्रह्मणा विष्णुना तथा ॥ रजसा तमसा चित्तं तयोर्यस्मात्तिरस्कृतम् ॥ २ ॥
tadapyaviditaM tAvadbrahmaNA viSNunA tathA ॥ rajasA tamasA cittaM tayoryasmAttiraskRtam ॥ 2 ॥
That too was incomprehensible to Brahmā and Viṣṇu because their minds had been screened with Rajas and Tamas.

tadA vibhaktamabhavaccaturdhaikaM tadakSaram ॥ a u meti trimAtrAbhiH parastAccArdhamAtrayA ॥ 3 ॥
Then that syllable divided itself into four, the three Mātrās—A, U, Ma and half the Mātrā thereafter.

tatrAkAraH zrito bhAge jvalalliMgasya dakSiNe ॥ ukArazcottare tadvanmakArastasya madhyataH ॥ 4 ॥
The letter ‘a’ attached itself to the southern side of the blazing Liṅga, the letter “u” to the north and the letter “ma” to its middle.

अर्धमात्रात्मको नादः श्रूयते लिंगमूर्धनि ॥ विभक्ते ऽपि तदा तस्मिन्प्रणवे परमाक्षरे ॥ ५ ॥
ardhamAtrAtmako nAdaH zrUyate liMgamUrdhani ॥ vibhakte 'pi tadA tasminpraNave paramAkSare ॥ 5 ॥
A half-voiced sound is heard at the head of the penis. Even when it was divided into that supreme syllable oṁkāra.

The two gods did not come to anything to express themselves. Then the unmanifest oṁkāra by the Self of the Vedas became distorted.

tatrAkAro RgabhavadukAro yajuravyayaH ॥ makArassAma saMjAto nAdastvAtharvaNI zrutiH ॥ 7 ॥
There the letter “a” became the Ṛgveda, the letter “u” the Yajurveda, the letter “ma” the Sāmaveda and the Nāda the Atharvaveda.

RgayaM sthApayAmAsa samAsAttvarthamAtmanaH ॥ rajoguNeSu brahmANaM mUrtiSvAdyaM kriyAsvapi ॥ 8 ॥
He established the Ṛg Veda in summary for his own purpose. Brahman in the modes of passion, in idols and in actions.

sRSTiM lokeSu pRthivIM tattveSvAtmAnamavyayam ॥ kalAdhvani nivRttiM ca sadyaM brahmasu paJcasu ॥ 9 ॥
The creation of the worlds, the earth, and the inexhaustible Self among the elements. and immediate renunciation of the sound of art in the five Brahmans.

लिंगभागेष्वधोभागं बीजाख्यं कारणत्रये ॥ चतुःषष्टिगुणैश्वर्यं बौद्धं यदणिमादिषु ॥ १० ॥
liMgabhAgeSvadhobhAgaM bIjAkhyaM kAraNatraye ॥ catuHSaSTiguNaizvaryaM bauddhaM yadaNimAdiSu ॥ 10 ॥
The lower part of the sex organ is called the seed for three reasons. The Buddha has sixty-fourfold opulence in the aṇimā and others.

Thus the universe is pervaded by the ten meanings of the Ṛg Veda. Then he presented the tenfold Yajur Veda for his own sake.

The mode of goodness is manifest in the modes of nature, and Lord Viṣṇu is manifested in His various forms. position in the worlds, space and knowledge in the three elements.

कलाध्वसु प्रतिष्ठां च वामं ब्रह्मसु पञ्चसु ॥ मध्यं तु लिंगभागेषु योनिं च त्रिषु हेतुषु ॥ १३ ॥
kalAdhvasu pratiSThAM ca vAmaM brahmasu paJcasu ॥ madhyaM tu liMgabhAgeSu yoniM ca triSu hetuSu ॥ 13 ॥
The left hand is situated on the path of art and is situated on the five Brahmans. The middle part of the penis and the vagina are the three causes.

The universe is made up of the Yajur Veda, just as it is ordinary and opulent. Then he presented the tenfold self for the sake of equality.

tamoguNeSvatho rudraM mUrtiSvAdyaM kriyAsu ca ॥ saMhRtiM triSu lokeSu tattveSu zivamuttamam ॥ 15 ॥
Lord Śiva is worshiped in the modes of darkness, in the forms of musical instruments and in ritualistic ceremonies. Samhriti is the best of all auspicious elements in the three worlds.

विद्याकलास्वघोरं च तथा ब्रह्मसु पञ्चसु ॥ लिंगभागेषु पीठोर्ध्वं बीजिनं कारणत्रये ॥ १६ ॥
vidyAkalAsvaghoraM ca tathA brahmasu paJcasu ॥ liMgabhAgeSu pIThordhvaM bIjinaM kAraNatraye ॥ 16 ॥
The five Brahmans are also terrible in the arts of knowledge. The seeds are placed above the dough in the parts of the penis for three reasons.

pauruSaM ca tathaizvaryamitthaM sAmnA tataM jagat ॥ athAtharvAha nairguNyamarthaM prathamamAtmanaH ॥ 17 ॥
The universe is thus equally powerful and opulent. Then Atharva carried the first meaning of the self without virtue.

ततो महेश्वरं साक्षान्मूर्तिष्वपि सदाशिवम् ॥ क्रियासु निष्क्रियस्यापि शिवस्य परमात्मनः ॥ १८ ॥
tato mahezvaraM sAkSAnmUrtiSvapi sadAzivam ॥ kriyAsu niSkriyasyApi zivasya paramAtmanaH ॥ 18 ॥
Then Lord Maheśvara appeared directly in all His forms, even Lord Śiva. Even though he is inactive in his actions, Lord Shiva is the Supreme Soul.

भूतानुग्रहणं चैव मुच्यंते येन जंतवः ॥ लोकेष्वपि यतो वाचो निवृत्ता मनसा सह ॥ १९ ॥
bhUtAnugrahaNaM caiva mucyaMte yena jaMtavaH ॥ lokeSvapi yato vAco nivRttA manasA saha ॥ 19 ॥
By showing mercy to all living beings, living beings are liberated. Even in the worlds because speech with the mind has ceased.

Beyond that planet, the moon-god is transcendental to the material world. The lord Soma and Homa reside there eternally.

tadUrdhvamunmanA lokAdyaM prApto na nivartate ॥ zAMtiM ca zAMtyatItAM ca vyApikAM cai kalAsvapi ॥ 21 ॥
Beyond that, one who has attained the beginning of the material world does not return. Peace and transcendence of peace and pervasiveness even in the arts.

tatpUruSaM tathezAnaM brahma brahmasu paJcasu ॥ mUrdhAnamapi liMgasya nAdabhAgeSvanuttamam ॥ 22 ॥
That Supreme Personality of Godhead is the Supreme Absolute Truth among the five Absolute Truths. The head is also excellent in the sound parts of the Linga.

yatrAvAhya samArAdhyaH kevalo niSkalaH zivaH ॥ tatteSvapi tadA biMdornAdAcchaktestataH parAt ॥ 23 ॥
Wherever one worships and worships the pure and pure Lord Śiva Even in those, then, from the sound of the point, from the power beyond that.

In the ultimate sense, the Absolute Truth is transcendental to the Absolute Truth. Because of the disturbance of illusion beyond the three causes.

anaMtAcchuddhavidyAyAH parastAcca mahezvarAt ॥ sarvavidyezvarAdhIzAnna parAcca sadAzivAt ॥ 25 ॥
From the infinite and beyond the pure knowledge, from the Supreme Lord. He is the Lord of all knowledge and no one else but Sadashiva.

The supreme cause is directly self-caused and auspicious. He is the creator of causes and the inexhaustible goal of meditators.

paramAkAzamadhyasthaM paramAtmopari sthitaM ॥ sarvaizvaryeNa saMpannaM sarvezvaramanIzvaram ॥ 30 ॥
It is situated in the midst of the supreme sky and above the Supreme Soul. He is endowed with all opulence and is the Lord of all and the Lord of all.

From opulence, from illusion, from impureness, from human beings and others. From the other, from the renunciation of the other, from the ocean of pure paths.

From the transcendental, pure knowledge, from the end of the mind, from the transcendental, transcendental. The supreme supreme opulence, the beginning and the end of the mind.

apAramaparAdhInaM nirastAtizayaM sthiram ॥ itthamarthairdazavidhairiyamAtharvaNI zrutiH ॥ 33 ॥
It is infinitely dependent on others and rejects excesses and is stable. Thus this Atharva Veda has ten different meanings.

yasmAdgarIyasI tasmAdvizvaM vyAptamatharvaNAt ॥ RgvedaH punarAhedaM jAgradrUpaM mayocyate ॥ 34 ॥
From the Atharva Veda the entire universe is pervaded by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Rig Veda again said this is the awakened form I am telling you.

yenAhamAtmatattvasya nityamasmyabhidhAyakaH ॥ yajurvedo 'vadattadvatsvapnAvasthA mayocyate ॥ 35 ॥
By this I am constantly explaining the Absolute Truth of the Self. I have described the state of dreaming as the Yajurveda said.

भोग्यात्मना परिणता विद्यावेद्या यतो मयि ॥ साम चाह सुषुप्त्याख्यमेवं सर्वं मयोच्यते ॥ ३६ ॥
bhogyAtmanA pariNatA vidyAvedyA yato mayi ॥ sAma cAha suSuptyAkhyamevaM sarvaM mayocyate ॥ 36 ॥
Because I am the altar of knowledge, it is transformed into the Self of enjoyment. The Sama is called Sushupti and thus I have described everything.

ममार्थेन शिवेनेदं तामसेनाभिधीयते ॥ अथर्वाह तुरायाख्यं तुरीयातीतमेव च ॥ ३७ ॥
mamArthena zivenedaM tAmasenAbhidhIyate ॥ atharvAha turAyAkhyaM turIyAtItameva ca ॥ 37 ॥
For My sake, this auspicious world is called Tamasena. The Atharva Veda is called Turaya and the fourth is past.

मयाभिधीयते तस्मादध्वातीतपदोस्म्यहम् ॥ अध्वात्मकं तु त्रितयं शिवविद्यात्मसंज्ञितम् ॥ ३८ ॥
mayAbhidhIyate tasmAdadhvAtItapadosmyaham ॥ adhvAtmakaM tu tritayaM zivavidyAtmasaMjJitam ॥ 38 ॥
Therefore I am the transcendental form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The threefold path consisting of the Adhva is called the Self of Shiva Vidya.

तत्त्रैगुण्यं त्रयीसाध्यं संशोध्यं च पदैषिणा ॥ अध्वातीतं तुरीयाख्यं निर्वाणं परमं पदम् ॥ ३९ ॥
tattraiguNyaM trayIsAdhyaM saMzodhyaM ca padaiSiNA ॥ adhvAtItaM turIyAkhyaM nirvANaM paramaM padam ॥ 39 ॥
That threefold nature is achievable by the three Vedas and can be refined by the footsteps. The fourth stage of transcendence is the supreme stage of Nirvana.
