Chitragupta said. O you who have committed evil deeds and robbed others of their property Proud of their beauty and strength they crush other men's wives.

The action which you perform is enjoyed again. What is that evil you have done to kill yourselves?

idAnIM kiM pralapyadhve pIDyamAnAssvakarmabhiH ॥ bhujyaMtAM svAni karmmANi nAsti doSo hi kasyacit ॥ 3 ॥
Why do you lament now? You are being tortured by your own actions. Reap the fruits thereof. This is not the fault of anyone else.

Sanatkumara said:- Thus the rulers of the earth arrived near him They are proud of their own terrible deeds and the strength of their evil deeds

The great lord Chitragupta was furious with them too The knower of dharma teaches him by the teachings of the king of Yama.

Citragupta said:— O ye wicked kings, who had tyrannised over and repressed your subjects, why were misdeeds committed for your rule of a very short duration?

राज्यभोगेन मोहेन बलादन्यायतः प्रजाः ॥ यद्दण्डिताः फलं तस्य भुज्यतामधुना नृपाः ॥ ७॥
rAjyabhogena mohena balAdanyAyataH prajAH ॥ yaddaNDitAH phalaM tasya bhujyatAmadhunA nRpAH ॥ 7॥
O kings, let the fruits be reaped now (of the evil actions) in having punished your subjects unjusticiably due to your fascination for kingly pleasures. You have misused your might.

kva tadrAjyaM kalatraM ca yadarthamazubhaM kRtam ॥ tatsarvaM saMparityajya yUyamekAkinaH sthitAH ॥ 8॥
Where is that kingdom? Where is your mistress? Where are those for whom sin and evil have been perpetrated? You have left them all and stand here alone.

pazyAmi tadbalaM naSTaM yena vidhvaMsitAH prajAH ॥ yamadUtairyojyamAnA adhunA kIdRzaM bhavet ॥ 9 ॥
I see that might quelled, the might that suppressed the subjects. How will you fare when you too are subjected to the same treatment by the emissaries of Yama?

sanatkumAra uvAca ॥ evaM bahuvidhairvAkyairupalabdhA yamena te ॥ svAni karmANi zocaMti tUSNIM tiSThaMti pArthivAH ॥ 10॥
Sanatkumāra said:— The kings who are treated with these and other similar taunts by Yama bewail their own lot and stand silent.

iti karmma samuddizya nRpANAM dharmmarADyamaH॥ tatpApapaMkazuddhyarthamidaM dUtAnbravIti ca ॥ 11 ॥
After having proclaimed their evil actions, Yama, Dharmarāja speaks to the messengers thus, for wiping off the sins of those kings.

yamarAja uvAca ॥ bhobhozcaNDa mahAcaMDa gRhItvA nRpatInbalAt ॥ niyamena vizudyadhvaM krameNa narakAgniSu ॥ 12॥
Yamarāja said:— O Caṇḍa, O Mahācaṇḍa, seize these kings forcibly and purify them gradually in the fires of hell (naraka).

sanatkumAra uvAca ॥ tatazzIghraM samAdAya nRpAnsaMgRhya pAdayoH॥ bhrAmayitvA tu vegena nikSipyordhvaM pragRhya ca ॥ 13॥
Sanatkumara said. Then he quickly seized the kings and held them at his feet He turned it around and quickly threw it down and grabbed it up.

सर्वप्रायेण महतातीव तप्ते शिलातले॥ आस्फालयंति तरसा वज्रेणेव महाद्रुमान्॥ १४॥
sarvaprAyeNa mahatAtIva tapte zilAtale॥ AsphAlayaMti tarasA vajreNeva mahAdrumAn॥ 14॥
Almost all of them are very hot on the rock bottom. They shatter the great trees with their speed like thunderbolts.

tatassaraktaM zrotreNa sravate jarjarIkRtaH॥ nissaMjJassa sadA dehI nizceSTassaMprajAyate॥ 15॥
Then the man sheds blood through his cars. He is wholly shattered. He becomes unconscious and motionless.

tatassa vAyunA spRSTassatairujjIvitaH punaH॥ tataH pApavizuddhyarthaM kSipaMti narakArNave॥ 16॥
When the wind blows against him he is resuscitated to life again. In order to purify him of his sins they throw him into the ocean of hell.

At the end of the seventh nether-world Tala, there are twenty-eight Narakakotis situated in terrible darkness.

घोराख्या प्रथमा कोटिः सुघोरा तदधः स्थिता ॥ अतिघोरा महाघोरा घोररूपा च पंचमी ॥ १८॥
ghorAkhyA prathamA koTiH sughorA tadadhaH sthitA ॥ atighorA mahAghorA ghorarUpA ca paMcamI ॥ 18॥
The first cell is called Ghorā. Sughorā is situated beneath it. Atighorā and Mahāghorā come next and Ghorarūpā is the fifth.

SaSThI talAtalAkhyA ca saptamI ca bhayAnakA॥ aSTamI kAlarAtrizca navamI ca bhayotkaTA॥ 19॥
The sixth is named Talātalā. The seventh is Bhayānakā. The eighth is Kālarātri and the ninth is Bhayotkaṭā.

The tenth is below that and the greatest is below that. There is another fierce noise and a fierce heroine.

Padma Padmavati Bhita Bhima Bhishananayaka The twenty-first of the thunderbolts is called Karala and Vikarala.

The next eight cells are Trikoṇā, Pañcakoṇā, Sūdīrghā, Akhilārtidā, Samā, Bhīmabalā, Atyugrā and the eighth Dīptaprāyā.

Thus the cells of Naraka have been mentioned to you by their names. Each of these is meant for the torture for a particular sin. Thus the twenty-eight cells for twenty-eight type of sins.

tAsAM krameNa vijJeyAH paMca paJcaiva nAyakAH॥ pratyekaM sarvakoTInAM nAmatassaMnibodhata ॥ 24॥
For each of these cells there are five officers in charge. Now I shall mention the names of the hells of each of these cells. Understand them well.

Raurava is the first where the embodied beings cry. Mahāraurava is the next. Due to the tortures here even great men cry.

Then cold and hot and the five others are mentioned as the heroes Sughora is very sharp and is said to be life-giving.

The greatest is the inverse and the elimination of the thorn. It was very fast and terrible and it was shaking terribly.

The great curve and time are the thread of time and the thunder. He was a list-faced and well-mannered eater and a good oppressor.

The pots and pans and the crackling were very terrible. Then the mountain Meru was thrown into the house of the charcoal mass.

The sharp-beaked bird is the great annihilator of the sacrifice. The muddy ointment of the hot animals is the source of the idol's flesh and weapons.

The breath was good and the breath was very long and the cotton wool. He is evil and very arguing and the gossip is very inflammatory.

Then came the cloud the bull the salma the lion the tiger the elephant They were like dogs, pigs, kings, buffaloes, owls, crows, wolves and forests.

They are called crows, crocodiles, crocodiles and crows called snakes and tortoises. Vultures, owls, halokas, tigers, charioteers and crabs.

Even the villainous Asuyantra is a crushing rope of deception It is made of great powder and fine powder and of hot iron.
