इ॒मं नु मा॒यिनं॑ हुव॒ इन्द्र॒मीशा॑न॒मोज॑सा । म॒रुत्व॑न्तं॒ न वृ॒ञ्जसे॑
imaṃ nu māyinaṃ huva indramīśānamojasā marutvantaṃ na vṛñjase
Invoke now, O magician Indra of sovereign might, the Marut-like potent one; do not withhold strengthful force.

ayamindro marutsakhā vi vṛtrasyābhinacchiraḥ vajreṇa śataparvaṇā
This Indra, friend of the Maruts, aimed his spear at Vritra’s neck; with the hundred-forked thunderbolt he overcame him.

vāvṛdhāno marutsakhendro vi vṛtramairayat sṛjansamudriyā apaḥ
O Marut-friends, Indra, with loud shout, destroyed Vritra and released the rivers, making the waters flow forth.

ayaṃ ha yena vā idaṃ svarmarutvatā jitam indreṇa somapītaye
This which by whose might Marut-power was vanquished, Indra seized for drinking Soma’s draught.

marutvantamṛjīṣiṇamojasvantaṃ virapśinam indraṃ gīrbhirhavāmahe
We invoke the mighty, desirous in vigor, the potent one glorious in strength, calling Indra with hymns.

indraṃ pratnena manmanā marutvantaṃ havāmahe asya somasya pītaye
We invoke Indra, mindful of striving, the Marut-like one, for the drinking of this Soma’s cup.

marutvām̐ indra mīḍhvaḥ pibā somaṃ śatakrato asminyajñe puruṣṭuta
Marut-folk, exultant Indra, drink the Soma, O hundred-abled one; praise him in this sacrifice, the mighty man.

tubhyedindra marutvate sutāḥ somāso adrivaḥ hṛdā hūyanta ukthinaḥ
May Indra drink the Marut-strength; sons, drink of Soma whose streams are like mountains; the singers offer with heart.

pibedindra marutsakhā sutaṃ somaṃ diviṣṭiṣu vajraṃ śiśāna ojasā
Indra, friend of the Maruts, drink the Soma, ye sharers in heaven; may the bolt bring forth vigor and potency.

उ॒त्तिष्ठ॒न्नोज॑सा स॒ह पी॒त्वी शिप्रे॑ अवेपयः । सोम॑मिन्द्र च॒मू सु॒तम्
uttiṣṭhannojasā saha pītvī śipre avepayaḥ somamindra camū sutam
Arise with vigor; together drink and swiftly bring Soma home; Indra, bring the troop with the draught.

अनु॑ त्वा॒ रोद॑सी उ॒भे क्रक्ष॑माणमकृपेताम् । इन्द्र॒ यद्द॑स्यु॒हाभ॑वः
anu tvā rodasī ubhe krakṣamāṇamakṛpetām indra yaddasyuhābhavaḥ
Both of you, when you wept, merciful ones, refrain from cruelty; Indra, what there was of that birth in him?

vācamaṣṭāpadīmahaṃ navasraktimṛtaspṛśam indrātpari tanvaṃ mame
I have called the eightfold speech, the freshly flowing vital drink; Indra, extend thyself around me for my part.
