वि॒शोवि॑शो वो॒ अति॑थिं वाज॒यन्तः॑ पुरुप्रि॒यम् । अ॒ग्निं वो॒ दुर्यं॒ वचः॑ स्तु॒षे शू॒षस्य॒ मन्म॑भिः
viśoviśo vo atithiṃ vājayantaḥ purupriyam agniṃ vo duryaṃ vacaḥ stuṣe śūṣasya manmabhiḥ
To you, the all-seeing, we offer guestly praise, favoring mankind; we extol Agni, the far-spoken word, with holy hymns and reverent minds.

यं जना॑सो ह॒विष्म॑न्तो मि॒त्रं न स॒र्पिरा॑सुतिम् । प्र॒शंस॑न्ति॒ प्रश॑स्तिभिः
yaṃ janāso haviṣmanto mitraṃ na sarpirāsutim praśaṃsanti praśastibhiḥ
Which among peoples honoring the oblation praises Mitra, not a slayer of lineage; they praise him with laudations.

पन्यां॑सं जा॒तवे॑दसं॒ यो दे॒वता॒त्युद्य॑ता । ह॒व्यान्यैर॑यद्दि॒वि
panyāṃsaṃ jātavedasaṃ yo devatātyudyatā havyānyairayaddivi
The sacred-born offering, which the deity upraised, is brought as oblations in the sky by the prescribed rites.

आग॑न्म वृत्र॒हन्त॑मं॒ ज्येष्ठ॑म॒ग्निमान॑वम् । यस्य॑ श्रु॒तर्वा॑ बृ॒हन्ना॒र्क्षो अनी॑क॒ एध॑ते
āganma vṛtrahantamaṃ jyeṣṭhamagnimānavam yasya śrutarvā bṛhannārkṣo anīka edhate
They invoke Agni, foremost among men, the slayer of Vritra; he, whose fame is heard, the great archer, bestows abundant gifts.

अ॒मृतं॑ जा॒तवे॑दसं ति॒रस्तमां॑सि दर्श॒तम् । घृ॒ताह॑वन॒मीड्य॑म्
amṛtaṃ jātavedasaṃ tirastamāṃsi darśatam ghṛtāhavanamīḍyam
Immortal was born, unseen to most, manifest beyond the dark; the butter-offering with ghee is laid upon the altar.

स॒बाधो॒ यं जना॑ इ॒मे॒३॒॑ऽग्निं ह॒व्येभि॒रीळ॑ते । जुह्वा॑नासो य॒तस्रु॑चः
sabādho yaṃ janā ime3'gniṃ havyebhirīḷate juhvānāso yatasrucaḥ
May those who call him with hymns make Agni welcome with oblations; the sacrificers pour what is bright.

iyaṃ te navyasī matiragne adhāyyasmadā mandra sujāta sukrato'mūra dasmātithe
O Agni, this new thoughtful counsel of ours is placed beneath you; the kindly-born, well-acting one, from this seat.

सा ते॑ अग्ने॒ शंत॑मा॒ चनि॑ष्ठा भवतु प्रि॒या । तया॑ वर्धस्व॒ सुष्टु॑तः
sā te agne śaṃtamā caniṣṭhā bhavatu priyā tayā vardhasva suṣṭutaḥ
May Agni be tranquil and steady for you, beloved; prosper through her, established in good order.

सा द्यु॒म्नैर्द्यु॒म्निनी॑ बृ॒हदुपो॑प॒ श्रव॑सि॒ श्रवः॑ । दधी॑त वृत्र॒तूर्ये॑
sā dyumnairdyumninī bṛhadupopa śravasi śravaḥ dadhīta vṛtratūrye
She, like the radiant ones, increases great renown and fame; she strengthens the slayer of Vritra.

अश्व॒मिद्गां र॑थ॒प्रां त्वे॒षमिन्द्रं॒ न सत्प॑तिम् । यस्य॒ श्रवां॑सि॒ तूर्व॑थ॒ पन्य॑म्पन्यं च कृ॒ष्टयः॑
aśvamidgāṃ rathaprāṃ tveṣamindraṃ na satpatim yasya śravāṃsi tūrvatha panyampanyaṃ ca kṛṣṭayaḥ
This horse, this herd, this foremost chariot—Indra is their true lord; on whose fame you are swift—cattle and steeds drawn by strong teams.

यं त्वा॑ गो॒पव॑नो गि॒रा चनि॑ष्ठदग्ने अङ्गिरः । स पा॑वक श्रुधी॒ हव॑म्
yaṃ tvā gopavano girā caniṣṭhadagne aṅgiraḥ sa pāvaka śrudhī havam
He who shepherded you, Angiras, spoke mountain‑like words of strength; he invoked you, purifier, with attention.

यं त्वा॒ जना॑स॒ ईळ॑ते स॒बाधो॒ वाज॑सातये । स बो॑धि वृत्र॒तूर्ये॑
yaṃ tvā janāsa īḷate sabādho vājasātaye sa bodhi vṛtratūrye
He whom the people invoked with praise—those excellent ones for strength—he made known (to us) the slayer of Vritra.

अ॒हं हु॑वा॒न आ॒र्क्षे श्रु॒तर्व॑णि मद॒च्युति॑ । शर्धां॑सीव स्तुका॒विनां॑ मृ॒क्षा शी॒र्षा च॑तु॒र्णाम्
ahaṃ huvāna ārkṣe śrutarvaṇi madacyuti śardhāṃsīva stukāvināṃ mṛkṣā śīrṣā caturṇām
I, the sacrificer, call forth the bearer of the hymn, the renowned voice; like a banner among seers I seek the four-headed lord.

मां च॒त्वार॑ आ॒शवः॒ शवि॑ष्ठस्य द्रवि॒त्नवः॑ । सु॒रथा॑सो अ॒भि प्रयो॒ वक्ष॒न्वयो॒ न तुग्र्य॑म्
māṃ catvāra āśavaḥ śaviṣṭhasya dravitnavaḥ surathāso abhi prayo vakṣanvayo na tugryam
Grant me, O fourfold powers, the choicest portions of the pure oblation; may the gods graciously bring these to success for us without harshness.

स॒त्यमित्त्वा॑ महेनदि॒ परु॒ष्ण्यव॑ देदिशम् । नेमा॑पो अश्व॒दात॑रः॒ शवि॑ष्ठादस्ति॒ मर्त्यः॑
satyamittvā mahenadi paruṣṇyava dediśam nemāpo aśvadātaraḥ śaviṣṭhādasti martyaḥ
By truth, O mighty one, the stormy one was sent forth; the waters are many, the steed‑born moved; from the choicest came the mortal.
