उ॒प॒सद्या॑य मी॒ळ्हुष॑ आ॒स्ये॑ जुहुता ह॒विः । यो नो॒ नेदि॑ष्ठ॒माप्य॑म्
upasadyāya mīḷhuṣa āsye juhutā haviḥ yo no nediṣṭhamāpyam
He placed the oblation near, the mixed clarified butter brought forward, the offering was poured—this is what he set before us.

यः पञ्च॑ चर्ष॒णीर॒भि नि॑ष॒साद॒ दमे॑दमे । क॒विर्गृ॒हप॑ति॒र्युवा॑
yaḥ pañca carṣaṇīrabhi niṣasāda damedame kavirgṛhapatiryuvā
He, who sat down with five churnings of the butter, subdued this house; the seer, house‑lord, the youthful one.

स नो॒ वेदो॑ अ॒मात्य॑म॒ग्नी र॑क्षतु वि॒श्वतः॑ । उ॒तास्मान्पा॒त्वंह॑सः
sa no vedo amātyamagnī rakṣatu viśvataḥ utāsmānpātvaṃhasaḥ
May the seer guard us with his knowing mind, O Agni, protecting us everywhere. Grant to us mortal protection and deliverance.

नवं॒ नु स्तोम॑म॒ग्नये॑ दि॒वः श्ये॒नाय॑ जीजनम् । वस्वः॑ कु॒विद्व॒नाति॑ नः
navaṃ nu stomamagnaye divaḥ śyenāya jījanam vasvaḥ kuvidvanāti naḥ
Let the new hymn be for Agni, the sky’s falcon, bringing life. O Vasus, bring riches to us from the lofty place.

स्पा॒र्हा यस्य॒ श्रियो॑ दृ॒शे र॒यिर्वी॒रव॑तो यथा । अग्रे॑ य॒ज्ञस्य॒ शोच॑तः
spārhā yasya śriyo dṛśe rayirvīravato yathā agre yajñasya śocataḥ
Whose touch brings splendor and visible bounty like a heroic man—before the sacrifice, from the one who grieves.

सेमां वे॑तु॒ वष॑ट्कृतिम॒ग्निर्जु॑षत नो॒ गिरः॑ । यजि॑ष्ठो हव्य॒वाह॑नः
semāṃ vetu vaṣaṭkṛtimagnirjuṣata no giraḥ yajiṣṭho havyavāhanaḥ
May Agni bring this desired rite; may the voice rejoice for us. He is the chosen bearer of the oblation.

नि त्वा॑ नक्ष्य विश्पते द्यु॒मन्तं॑ देव धीमहि । सु॒वीर॑मग्न आहुत
ni tvā nakṣya viśpate dyumantaṃ deva dhīmahi suvīramagna āhuta
You, who destroy the hostile, brighten the heaven, we think upon you, noble Agni called with oblation.

क्षप॑ उ॒स्रश्च॑ दीदिहि स्व॒ग्नय॒स्त्वया॑ व॒यम् । सु॒वीर॒स्त्वम॑स्म॒युः
kṣapa usraśca dīdihi svagnayastvayā vayam suvīrastvamasmayuḥ
Shatter the frosts and the cold; with your own fires, O Agni, we are warmed. You are our noble, victorious protector.

उप॑ त्वा सा॒तये॒ नरो॒ विप्रा॑सो यन्ति धी॒तिभिः॑ । उपाक्ष॑रा सह॒स्रिणी॑
upa tvā sātaye naro viprāso yanti dhītibhiḥ upākṣarā sahasriṇī
Place upon him, the man: priests go with steadfast minds. The thousand‑lettered formula accompanies him.

अ॒ग्नी रक्षां॑सि सेधति शु॒क्रशो॑चि॒रम॑र्त्यः । शुचिः॑ पाव॒क ईड्यः॑
agnī rakṣāṃsi sedhati śukraśociramartyaḥ śuciḥ pāvaka īḍyaḥ
Agni, you establish protection; you cleanse with bright oblation and splendid rite. Bright Pāvaka, the purifying one.

स नो॒ राधां॒स्या भ॒रेशा॑नः सहसो यहो । भग॑श्च दातु॒ वार्य॑म्
sa no rādhāṃsyā bhareśānaḥ sahaso yaho bhagaśca dātu vāryam
Grant us prosperity in abundance; may the lord of wealth give us bounty. Bestow generous gifts upon us.

त्वम॑ग्ने वी॒रव॒द्यशो॑ दे॒वश्च॑ सवि॒ता भगः॑ । दिति॑श्च दाति॒ वार्य॑म्
tvamagne vīravadyaśo devaśca savitā bhagaḥ ditiśca dāti vāryam
O Agni, you renowned in heroic fame, and the god Savita, grant greatness. Diti also grant the liberal gift.

अग्ने॒ रक्षा॑ णो॒ अंह॑सः॒ प्रति॑ ष्म देव॒ रीष॑तः । तपि॑ष्ठैर॒जरो॑ दह
agne rakṣā ṇo aṃhasaḥ prati ṣma deva rīṣataḥ tapiṣṭhairajaro daha
Agni, warm us with protection; the gods have been roused. Burn with undying heat, O resplendent one.

अधा॑ म॒ही न॒ आय॒स्यना॑धृष्टो॒ नृपी॑तये । पूर्भ॑वा श॒तभु॑जिः
adhā mahī na āyasyanādhṛṣṭo nṛpītaye pūrbhavā śatabhujiḥ
Below the earth do not come, unlooked‑for, for the sake of the king. Former ones with a hundred arms were before.

त्वं नः॑ पा॒ह्यंह॑सो॒ दोषा॑वस्तरघाय॒तः । दिवा॒ नक्त॑मदाभ्य
tvaṃ naḥ pāhyaṃhaso doṣāvastaraghāyataḥ divā naktamadābhya
Protect us from hostile faults and the piercing wounds; by day and by night avert them from us.
