matsyapāyi te mahaḥ pātrasyeva harivo matsaro madaḥ vṛṣā te vṛṣṇa indurvājī sahasrasātamaḥ
Like fish in the water you are a great vessel; jealous rivals are the fishes of pride. Bulls of might — you are the vigorous, thousand‑swift one.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 175 · Verse 1.175.2
ā naste gantu matsaro vṛṣā mado vareṇyaḥ sahāvām̐ indra sānasiḥ pṛtanāṣāḷamartyaḥ
Come, let the jealous ones — the bulls, the pride, the excellent — go to you. Indra, stand with us, supporter of the assembly, destroyer of foes.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 175 · Verse 1.175.3
tvaṃ hi śūraḥ sanitā codayo manuṣo ratham sahāvāndasyumavratamoṣaḥ pātraṃ na śociṣā
You indeed are brave, set upon the chariot of men; partake of the vow and the draught — the vessel brings no grief to those who grieve not.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 175 · Verse 1.175.4
muṣāya sūryaṃ kave cakramīśāna ojasā vaha śuṣṇāya vadhaṃ kutsaṃ vātasyāśvaiḥ
O Mūṣāya and Sun, the poets possessed the wheel‑rule of power. Carry the fierce slaughter for heat, with wind‑horses for fury.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 175 · Verse 1.175.5
śuṣmintamo hi te mado dyumnintama uta kratuḥ vṛtraghnā varivovidā maṃsīṣṭhā aśvasātamaḥ
Your pride is the subtlest, indeed your might is the loftiest — the deed of heaven removed the cloud‑foe. The foremost of steeds rent open the flood, the highest of hosts hastened.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 175 · Verse 1.175.6
yathā pūrvebhyo jaritṛbhya indra maya ivāpo na tṛṣyate babhūtha tāmanu tvā nividaṃ johavīmi vidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum
As in former times for the ancient sacrificers, O Indra, so may the waters not thirst for me. Therefore I pour you the libation; I seek this bounty, the moving herd, with life‑giving thought.
