यदा स्थिताः सुरेश्वराः प्रणम्य चैवमीश्वरम। तदांबिकापतिर भवः पिनाकधृङ महेश्वरः।।
yadā sthitāḥ sureśvarāḥ praṇamya caivamīśvaram| tadāṃbikāpatir bhavaḥ pinākadhṛṅ maheśvaraḥ||
Sūta said: After bowing to Īśvara thus, when the leading Devas stood aside, the Pināka-bearing great Īśvara, Bhava, the lord of Ambikā, granted a vision of his to those excellent Devas. With their eyes moistened due to their joy. Devas bowed to the lord with respect.

ददौ निरीक्षणं क्षणाद भवः स तान्सुरोत्तमान। प्रणेमुरादराद्धरं सुरा मुदार्द्रलोचनाः।।
dadau nirīkṣaṇaṃ kṣaṇād bhavaḥ sa tānsurottamān| praṇemurādarāddharaṃ surā mudārdralocanāḥ||
Sūta said: After bowing to Īśvara thus, when the leading Devas stood aside, the Pināka-bearing great Īśvara, Bhava, the lord of Ambikā, granted a vision of his to those excellent Devas. With their eyes moistened due to their joy. Devas bowed to the lord with respect.

भवः सुधामृतोपमैर निरीक्षणैर्निरीक्षणात। तदाह भद्रमस्तु वः सुरेश्वरान महेश्वरः।।
bhavaḥ sudhāmṛtopamair nirīkṣaṇairnirīkṣaṇāt| tadāha bhadramastu vaḥ sureśvarān maheśvaraḥ||
Sūta said: The lord glanced at them with visions sweet as nectar. The lord said to the leading Devas—“Welfare be to you.”

वरार्थमीश वीक्ष्यते सुरा गृहं गतास्त्विमे। प्रणम्य चाह वाक्पतिः पतिं निरीक्ष्य निर्भयः।।
varārthamīśa vīkṣyate surā gṛhaṃ gatāstvime| praṇamya cāha vākpatiḥ patiṃ nirīkṣya nirbhayaḥ||
Sūta said: The lord of speech Bṛhaspati glanced at the lord fearlessly, bowed to him and said—O Iśa, it is with the desire for a boon that Devas have come here. You have always been unobstructedly requested by Asuras and others. You are prayed to by those who are harmful and injurious to Devas, for the achievement of their desire. Hence, bless us with a good cause of impediment to those who bring about injury to Devas. This alone is our request.

tatastadā niśamya vai pinākadhṛk sureśvaraḥ| gaṇeśvaraṃ sureśvaraṃ vapurdadhāra saḥ śivaḥ||
Sūta said: On hearing that, the Pināka-bearing lord of Devas, Śiva created the body of the leading Deva Gaṇeśvara.[1]

गणेश्वराश च तुष्टुवुः सुरेश्वरा महेश्वरम। समस्तलोकसंभवं भवार्त्तिहारिणं शुभम।।
gaṇeśvarāś ca tuṣṭuvuḥ sureśvarā maheśvaram| samastalokasaṃbhavaṃ bhavārttihāriṇaṃ śubham||
Sūta said: The leading Gaṇas and the lords of Devas eulogised Maheśvara, the origin of the world and the splendid dispeller of the distress of worldly existence. Then Ambikā welcomed the elephant-faced lord Gajānana the cause of the origin of the world, the wielder of the trident and noose. Siddhas and sages showered flowers. The heaven-walkers, the groups of Devas eulogised lord Maheśa the bestower of the cherished desires. The lords of Devas bowed to Gaṇeśa and Maheśa alertfully.

इभाननाश्रितं वरं त्रिशूलपाशधारिणम। समस्तलोकसंभवं गजाननं तदांबिका।।
ibhānanāśritaṃ varaṃ triśūlapāśadhāriṇam| samastalokasaṃbhavaṃ gajānanaṃ tadāṃbikā||
Sūta said: The leading Gaṇas and the lords of Devas eulogised Maheśvara, the origin of the world and the splendid dispeller of the distress of worldly existence. ददुः पुष्पवर्षं हि सिद्धा मुनीन्द्रास तथा खेचरा देवसंघास्तदानीम। तदा तुष्टुवुश्चैकदन्तं सुरेशाः प्रणेमुर्गणेशं महेशं वितन्द्राः।।
daduḥ puṣpavarṣaṃ hi siddhā munīndrās tathā khecarā devasaṃghāstadānīm| tadā tuṣṭuvuścaikadantaṃ sureśāḥ praṇemurgaṇeśaṃ maheśaṃ vitandrāḥ||
Sūta said: The leading Gaṇas and the lords of Devas eulogised Maheśvara, the origin of the world and the splendid dispeller of the distress of worldly existence. तदा तयोर्विनिर्गतः सुभैरवः स मूर्तिमान। स्थितो ननर्त बालकः समस्तमङ्गलालयः।।
tadā tayorvinirgataḥ subhairavaḥ sa mūrtimān| sthito nanarta bālakaḥ samastamaṅgalālayaḥ||
Sūta said: That boy emanating from both of them, the embodied form of gentleness and terrific appearance, the abode of all auspiciousness stood there and danced.

विचित्रवस्त्रभूषणैर अलंकृतो गजाननः। महेश्वरस्य पुत्रको ऽभिवन्द्य तातम अम्बिकाम।।
vicitravastrabhūṣaṇair alaṃkṛto gajānanaḥ| maheśvarasya putrako 'bhivandya tātam ambikām||
Sūta said: Gajānana was bedecked in wonderful garments and ornaments of various kinds. The gentle son of Maheśvara saluted his father and mother. Lord Bhava, the lord of all, himself performed the post-natal rites of his recently born son Gajānana.

जातमात्रं सुतं दृष्ट्वा चकार भगवान्भवः। गजाननाय कृत्यांस्तु सर्वान्सर्वेश्वरः स्वयम।।
jātamātraṃ sutaṃ dṛṣṭvā cakāra bhagavānbhavaḥ| gajānanāya kṛtyāṃstu sarvānsarveśvaraḥ svayam||
Sūta said: Gajānana was bedecked in wonderful garments and ornaments of various kinds. The gentle son of Maheśvara saluted his father and mother. Lord Bhava, the lord of all, himself performed the post-natal rites of his recently born son Gajānana.

आदाय च कराभ्यां च सुसुखाभ्यां भवः स्वयम। आलिङ्ग्याघ्राय मूर्धानं महादेवो जगद्गुरुः।।
ādāya ca karābhyāṃ ca susukhābhyāṃ bhavaḥ svayam| āliṅgyāghrāya mūrdhānaṃ mahādevo jagadguruḥ||
Sūta said: He held him in his arms that offered gentle pleasure and happiness. Mahādeva, the preceptor of the universe, embraced him and kissed him on his head and said.

तवावतारो दैत्यानां विनाशाय ममात्मज। देवानामुपकारार्थं द्विजानां ब्रह्मवादिनाम।।
tavāvatāro daityānāṃ vināśāya mamātmaja| devānāmupakārārthaṃ dvijānāṃ brahmavādinām||
Sūta said: O my son, you are born for the destruction of Daityas and for rendering help unto Devas and brahmins the expounders of Vedas.
The origin of Vināyaka - Verse 16

यज्ञश च दक्षिणाहीनः कृतो येन महीतले। तस्य धर्मस्य विघ्नं च कुरु स्वर्गपथे स्थितः।।
yajñaś ca dakṣiṇāhīnaḥ kṛto yena mahītale| tasya dharmasya vighnaṃ ca kuru svargapathe sthitaḥ||
Sūta said: Be stationed in the heavenly path. Create impediment in the rituals of that person by whom the sacrifice had been performed without the monetary gifts on the surface of the earth.

अध्यापनं चाध्ययनं व्याख्यानं कर्म एव च। यो ऽन्यायतः करोत्यस्मिन तस्य प्राणान्सदा हर।।
adhyāpanaṃ cādhyayanaṃ vyākhyānaṃ karma eva ca| yo 'nyāyataḥ karotyasmin tasya prāṇānsadā hara||
Sūta said: Remove the vital breaths of the person who improperly performs the rites of teaching and study of the Vedas, the commentaries thereon and the rites mentioned in them.

वर्णाच्च्युतानां नारीणां नराणां नरपुङ्गव। स्वधर्मरहितानां च प्राणानपहर प्रभो।।
varṇāccyutānāṃ nārīṇāṃ narāṇāṃ narapuṅgava| svadharmarahitānāṃ ca prāṇānapahara prabho||
Sūta said: O lord, remove the vital breaths of men and women fallen off from their castes. O leading man, similarly, do unto those who are devoid of their duties.

याः स्त्रियस्त्वां सदा कालं पुरुषाश च विनायक। यजन्ति तासां तेषां च त्वत्साम्यं दातुमर्हसि।।
yāḥ striyastvāṃ sadā kālaṃ puruṣāś ca vināyaka| yajanti tāsāṃ teṣāṃ ca tvatsāmyaṃ dātumarhasi||
Sūta said: O Vināyaka, it behoves you to bestow equality with you, on those men and women who worship you on all occasions.

त्वं भक्तान सर्वयत्नेन रक्ष बालगणेश्वर। यौवनस्थांश च वृद्धांश च इहामुत्र च पूजितः।।
tvaṃ bhaktān sarvayatnena rakṣa bālagaṇeśvara| yauvanasthāṃś ca vṛddhāṃś ca ihāmutra ca pūjitaḥ||
Sūta said: O boy Gaṇeśvara, protect your devotees with all efforts. On being worshipped here and hereafter protect old people and those who are in the prime of their youth.

जगत्त्रये ऽत्र सर्वत्र त्वं हि विघ्नगणेश्वरः। संपूज्यो वन्दनीयश च भविष्यसि न संशयः।।
jagattraye 'tra sarvatra tvaṃ hi vighnagaṇeśvaraḥ| saṃpūjyo vandanīyaś ca bhaviṣyasi na saṃśayaḥ||
Sūta said: O Vighneśvara, O Gaṇeśvara, everywhere in the three worlds, you alone will undoubtedly become worthy of being worshipped and honoured.

मां च नारायणं वापि ब्रह्माणम अपि पुत्रक। यजन्ति यज्ञैर्वा विप्रैर अग्रे पूज्यो भविष्यसि।।
māṃ ca nārāyaṇaṃ vāpi brahmāṇam api putraka| yajanti yajñairvā viprair agre pūjyo bhaviṣyasi||
Sūta said: O son, even when the brahmins worship me, as Nārāyaṇa or Brahmā or when they perform sacrificial rites you will be worshipped at the outset.

त्वाम अनभ्यर्च्य कल्याणं श्रौतं स्मार्तं च लौकिकम। कुरुते तस्य कल्याणम अकल्याणं भविष्यति।।
tvām anabhyarcya kalyāṇaṃ śrautaṃ smārtaṃ ca laukikam| kurute tasya kalyāṇam akalyāṇaṃ bhaviṣyati||
Sūta said: If anyone performs auspicious rite laid down in. the Śrutis or Smṛtis or any worldly ceremony without worshipping you at the outset, it will be turned inauspicious.

ब्राह्मणैः क्षत्रियैर्वैश्यैः शूद्रैश्चैव गजानन। सम्पूज्य सर्वसिद्ध्यर्थं भक्ष्यभोज्यादिभिः शुभैः।।
brāhmaṇaiḥ kṣatriyairvaiśyaiḥ śūdraiścaiva gajānana| sampūjya sarvasiddhyarthaṃ bhakṣyabhojyādibhiḥ śubhaiḥ||
Sūta said: O Gajānana, you are worthy of being worshipped by brahmins, Kṣatriyas, Vaiśyas and Śūdras by the offerings of splendid edibles and food-stuffs for the achievement of all Siddhis.

त्वां गन्धपुष्पधूपाद्यैर अनभ्यर्च्य जगत्त्रये। देवैरपि तथान्यैश च लब्धव्यं नास्ति कुत्रचित।।
tvāṃ gandhapuṣpadhūpādyair anabhyarcya jagattraye| devairapi tathānyaiś ca labdhavyaṃ nāsti kutracit||
Sūta said: There is nothing to be achieved by Devas and others anywhere in the three worlds without first worshipping you with scents, fragrant flowers and incense.

अभ्यर्चयन्ति ये लोका मानवास्तु विनायकम। ते चार्चनीयाः शक्राद्यैर भविष्यन्ति न संशयः।।
abhyarcayanti ye lokā mānavāstu vināyakam| te cārcanīyāḥ śakrādyair bhaviṣyanti na saṃśayaḥ||
Sūta said: Those people, those human beings, who worship you are undoubtedly to be worshipped by even. Indra and others.
The origin of Vināyaka - Verse 27

अजं हरिं च मां वापि शक्रमन्यान्सुरानपि। विघ्नैर बाधयसि त्वां चेन नार्चयन्ति फलार्थिनः।।
ajaṃ hariṃ ca māṃ vāpi śakramanyānsurānapi| vighnair bādhayasi tvāṃ cen nārcayanti phalārthinaḥ||
Sūta said: If those who seek benefits do not worship you, you will harass them through impediments, even if it be Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Indra and Devas or even I myself.

ससर्ज च तदा विघ्न- गणं गणपतिः प्रभुः। गणैः सार्धं नमस्कृत्वाप्य अतिष्ठत्तस्य चाग्रतः।।
sasarja ca tadā vighna- gaṇaṃ gaṇapatiḥ prabhuḥ| gaṇaiḥ sārdhaṃ namaskṛtvāpy atiṣṭhattasya cāgrataḥ||
Sūta said: Then lord Gaṇapati created Vighnagaṇas (attendants of impediment). Along with his Gaṇas he bowed to the lord and stood in front of him.
The origin of Vināyaka - Verse 29

तदा प्रभृति लोके ऽस्मिन पूजयन्ति गणेश्वरम। दैत्यानां धर्मविघ्नं च चकारासौ गणेश्वरः।।
tadā prabhṛti loke 'smin pūjayanti gaṇeśvaram| daityānāṃ dharmavighnaṃ ca cakārāsau gaṇeśvaraḥ||
Sūta said: Ever since then, people worship Gaṇeśvara in this world. This Gaṇeśvara created obstacles in the rituals of Daityas.

एतद्वः कथितं सर्वं स्कन्दाग्रजसमुद्भवम। यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्वापि श्रावयेद्वा सुखीभवेत।।
etadvaḥ kathitaṃ sarvaṃ skandāgrajasamudbhavam| yaḥ paṭhecchṛṇuyādvāpi śrāvayedvā sukhībhavet||
Sūta said: Ever since then, people worship Gaṇeśvara in this world. This Gaṇeśvara created obstacles in the rituals of Daityas.
