इति श्रीब्रह्माण्डे महापुराणे वायुप्रोक्ते मध्यभागे तृतीय उपोद्धातपादे भार्गवचरिते द्वात्रिंशत्तमो ऽध्यायः।। 32।। श्रुतं सर्वं मुनिश्रेष्ठ कीर्त्यमानं त्वया विभो। कवचं वद सर्वत्र त्रैलोक्यविजयप्रदम।।
iti śrībrahmāṇḍe mahāpurāṇe vāyuprokte madhyabhāge tṛtīya upoddhātapāde bhārgavacarite dvātriṃśattamo 'dhyāyaḥ|| 32|| śrutaṃ sarvaṃ muniśreṣṭha kīrtyamānaṃ tvayā vibho| kavacaṃ vada sarvatra trailokyavijayapradam||
Sagara requested: Everything glorified by you, O holy lord, O excellent sage has been heard. Recount to me the Kavaca (Protective Mantra) which grants the conquest of the three worlds, everywhere.

शृणु वत्स प्रवक्ष्यामि कवचं परमाद्भुतम। मन्त्र च सिद्धिद शश्वत्साधकानां सुखावहम।।
śṛṇu vatsa pravakṣyāmi kavacaṃ paramādbhutam| mantra ca siddhida śaśvatsādhakānāṃ sukhāvaham||
Vasiṣṭha said: Listen, O dear one, I shall recount to you the extremely miraculous Kavaca. I shall teach you the Mantra also that bestows spiritual attainment and which always brings happiness to those who aspire to achieve it and practise it.

गोपीजनपदस्यात वल्लभाय समुच्चरेत। स्वाहान्तो ऽयं महामन्त्रो दशार्णो भुक्तिमुक्तिदः।।
gopījanapadasyāta vallabhāya samuccaret| svāhānto 'yaṃ mahāmantro daśārṇo bhuktimuktidaḥ||
Vasiṣṭha said: At the end of the word Gopījana one shall utter the word Vallabhāya. Ending with Svāhā, this great Mantra (viz. Gopījana-Vallabhāya Svāhā meaning ‘Svāhā unto the lover of cowherdess folks’) often syllables is the bestower of worldly pleasure as well as salvation.

सदाशिवस्त्वस्य ऋषिः पङ्क्तिश्छन्द उदाहृतम। देवता कृष्ण उदितो विनियोगो ऽखिलाप्तये।।
sadāśivastvasya ṛṣiḥ paṅktiśchanda udāhṛtam| devatā kṛṣṇa udito viniyogo 'khilāptaye||
Vasiṣṭha said: The sage of this Mantra is Sadāśiva. Paṅkti is cited as the metre with ten syllables in a quarter) Kṛṣṇa is mentioned as the deity. Its utilization is for the achievement of everything.

त्रैलोक्यविजयस्याथ कवचस्य प्रजापतिः। ऋषिश्छन्दश्च जगती देवो राजेश्वरः स्वयम।।
trailokyavijayasyātha kavacasya prajāpatiḥ| ṛṣiśchandaśca jagatī devo rājeśvaraḥ svayam||
Vasiṣṭha said: The sage of the Kavaca named. Trailokyavijaya is Prajāpati. The metre is Jagati (a metre with twelve syllables). The deity is Rājeśvara himself. It is proclaimed that its utilization is in the attainment of the conquest of the three worlds. Let the Praṇava (i.e. Oṃkāra) protect my head. Obeisance to Śrīkṛṣṇa always.

त्रैलोक्यविजयप्राप्तौ विनियोगः प्रकीर्त्तितः। प्रणवो मेशिरः पातु श्रीकृष्णाय नमः सदा।।

pāyātkapālaṃ kṛṣṇāya svāheti satataṃ mama| kṛṣṇeti pātu netre me kṛṣṇasvāheti tārakām||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let him ever protect my forehead. Svāhā unto Kṛṣṇa. O Kṛṣṇa, let this protect my eyes. Let (the Mantra) Kṛṣṇāya svāhā (protcet) the pupil of the eye ‘Haraye namaḥ’ (Obeisance to Hari), let this ever protect my brow. Oṃ Govindāya Svāhā, let this always protect my nose.

gopālāya namo gaṇḍaṃ pātu me satataṃ manuḥ| klīṃ kṛṣṇāya namaḥ karṇauṃ pātu kalpatarurmama||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Obeisance to Gopāla’; let this Mantra always protect my cheek. ‘Klīṃ, obeisance to Kṛṣṇa’. Let the wish-yielding Kalpa-tree protect my ears.

śrīṃ kṛṣṇāya namaḥ pātu nityaṃ me 'dharayugmakam| oṃ gopīśāya svāheti dantapaṅktiṃ mamāvatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Śrīṃ, obeisance to Kṛṣṇa’, let this always protect the pair of my lips. Oṃ Svāhā unto Gopīśa, let this protect the row of my teeth.

श्रीकृष्णेति रदच्छिद्रं पातुमे त्र्यक्षरो मनुः। ओं श्रीकृष्णाय स्वाहेति जिह्विकां पातु मे सदा।।
śrīkṛṣṇeti radacchidraṃ pātume tryakṣaro manuḥ| oṃ śrīkṛṣṇāya svāheti jihvikāṃ pātu me sadā||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let this Mantra of three syllables viz. ‘Śrīkṛṣṇa’ always protect the cavity within the row of my teeth’ (Let the Mantra) ‘Svāhā unto Śrikṛṣṇa’ protect my tongue always.

रामेश्वराय स्वाहेति तालुकं पातु मे सदा। राधिकेशाय स्वाहेति कण्ठं मे पातु सर्वदा।।
rāmeśvarāya svāheti tālukaṃ pātu me sadā| rādhikeśāya svāheti kaṇṭhaṃ me pātu sarvadā||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Svāhā unto Rāmeśvara (prob. Rāseśvara).’ Let this always protect my palate. ‘Svāhā unto Rādhikā’s lord’. Let this always protect my neck (throat).

नमो गोपीगणेशाय ग्रीवां मे पातु सर्वदा। ओं गोपेशाय स्वाहेति स्कन्धौ पातु सदा मम।।
namo gopīgaṇeśāya grīvāṃ me pātu sarvadā| oṃ gopeśāya svāheti skandhau pātu sadā mama||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Obeisance to the lord of the group of cowherdesses’. Let this always protect my neck. ‘Oṃ Svāhā unto the lord of the cowherds’, let this always protect my shoulders.

नमः किशोरवेषाय स्वाहा पृष्ठं ममावतु। उदरं पातु मे नित्यं मुकुन्दाय नमो मनुः।।
namaḥ kiśoraveṣāya svāhā pṛṣṭhaṃ mamāvatu| udaraṃ pātu me nityaṃ mukundāya namo manuḥ||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Obeisance to the Lord in the guise of a boy, Svāhā (to Him), (let this Mantra) protect my back. ‘Obeisance to Mukunda’; let this Mantra always protect my belly.

ह्नीं श्रीङ्क्लीङ्कृष्णाय स्वाहा करौ पातु सदा मम। ओं विष्णवे नमः स्वाहा बाहुयुग्मं ममावतु।।
hnīṃ śrīṅklīṅkṛṣṇāya svāhā karau pātu sadā mama| oṃ viṣṇave namaḥ svāhā bāhuyugmaṃ mamāvatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Hrīṃ Śrīṃ Klīṃ, Svāhā unto Kṛṣṇa’; let this always protect my hands, ‘Oṃ obeisance and Svāhā unto Viṣṇu’, let this protect the pair of my arms.

ओं ह्रींभगवते स्वाहा नखपङ्क्तिं ममावतु। नमो नारायणायेति नखरन्ध्रं ममावतु।।
oṃ hrīṃbhagavate svāhā nakhapaṅktiṃ mamāvatu| namo nārāyaṇāyeti nakharandhraṃ mamāvatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Oṃ Hrīm, Svāhā unto the Lord’, let this protect the row of my nails. ‘Obeisance to Nārāyaṇa’; let this protect the cavity beneath the nails of mine.

ओं ह्रींश्रींपद्मनाभाय नाभिं पातु सदा मम। ओं सर्वेशाय स्वाहेति केशान्मम सदावतु।।
oṃ hrīṃśrīṃpadmanābhāya nābhiṃ pātu sadā mama| oṃ sarveśāya svāheti keśānmama sadāvatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Oṃ Hrīṃ Śrīm obeisance unto Padmanābha; let this protect always my navel. ‘Oṃ Svāhā unto the lord of all’, let this always protect my hairs.

नमः कृष्णाय स्वाहेति ब्रह्मरन्ध्रं सदावतु। ओं माधवाय स्वाहेति भालं मे सर्वदावतु।।
namaḥ kṛṣṇāya svāheti brahmarandhraṃ sadāvatu| oṃ mādhavāya svāheti bhālaṃ me sarvadāvatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Obeisance to Kṛṣṇa, Svāhā (unto him)’, let this even protect the Brahmarandhra (the aperture on the crown of the head, the outlet for the soul at the time of death). ‘Oṃ Svāhā unto Mādhava’, let this always protect my forehead.

ओं ह्रींश्रींरसिकेशाय कटिं मम सदावतु। नमो गोपीजनेशाय ऊरू पातु सदा मम।।
oṃ hrīṃśrīṃrasikeśāya kaṭiṃ mama sadāvatu| namo gopījaneśāya ūrū pātu sadā mama||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Oṃ Hrīṃ Śrīm obeisance to the lord of Rasikas’ (those who appreciate beauty and enjoy pleasure)’, let this always protect my waist. ‘Obeisance to the lord of cowherdess-folk’. Let this always protect my thighs.

ओं नमो दैत्यनाशाय स्वाहेत्यवतु जानुनी। यशोदानन्दनायेति नमोतो जङ्घके ऽवतु।।
oṃ namo daityanāśāya svāhetyavatu jānunī| yaśodānandanāyeti namoto jaṅghake 'vatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: ‘Oṃ, obeisance to the destroyer of the Daityas, Svāhā (unto Him)’ let this (Mantra) protect my knees. Let the Mantra ‘Unto the son of Yaśodā ending with Namaḥ (obeisance) protect my calfmuscles.’

रासारंभप्रियायेति स्वाहान्तो हीं ममावतु। वृन्दाप्रियाय स्वाहेति सकलाङ्गानि मे ऽवतु।।
rāsāraṃbhapriyāyeti svāhānto hīṃ mamāvatu| vṛndāpriyāya svāheti sakalāṅgāni me 'vatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let (the Mantra) ending with ‘Svāhā unto the person who is fond of beginning the Rāsa dance’ protect my modesty and bashfulness. Let (the Mantra), ‘Svāhā unto the lover of Vṛndā’ protect my limbs.

परिबुर्णमनाः कृष्मः प्राच्यां मां सर्वदावतु। स्वयं गोलोकनाथो मामाग्नेय्यां दिशि रक्षतु।।
pariburṇamanāḥ kṛṣmaḥ prācyāṃ māṃ sarvadāvatu| svayaṃ golokanātho māmāgneyyāṃ diśi rakṣatu||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let Kṛṣṇa wholeheartedly protect me always in the East. Let the lord of Goloka (the world of the cows) himself protect me in the South-East quarter.

पूर्णब्रह्मस्वरूपश्च दक्षिणे मां सदावतु। नैरृत्यां पातु मां कृष्णाः पश्चिमे पातु मां हरिः।।
pūrṇabrahmasvarūpaśca dakṣiṇe māṃ sadāvatu| nairṛtyāṃ pātu māṃ kṛṣṇāḥ paścime pātu māṃ hariḥ||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let (the lord) in the form of perfect Brahman protect me in the South-West. Let Hari protect me in the West.

गोविन्दः पातु वायव्यामुत्तरे रसिकेश्वरः। ऐशान्यां मे सदा पातु वृन्दावनविहार कृत।।
govindaḥ pātu vāyavyāmuttare rasikeśvaraḥ| aiśānyāṃ me sadā pātu vṛndāvanavihāra kṛt||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let Govinḍa protect me in the North-West. Let Rasikeśvara (Lord of those who enjoy aesthetic pleasure) protect me in the North. Let the lord who sports about in the forest of Vṛndāvana protect me always in the North-East.

वृन्दाप्राणेश्वरः शश्वत्पातु मामूर्द्ध्वदेशतः। सदैव मामधः पातु बलिध्वंसी महाबलः।।
vṛndāprāṇeśvaraḥ śaśvatpātu māmūrddhvadeśataḥ| sadaiva māmadhaḥ pātu balidhvaṃsī mahābalaḥ||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let the intimate beloved of Vṛndā protect me always from above. Let the extremely powerful destroyer of Bali protect me always from below.

जले स्थले चान्तरिक्षे नृसिंहः पातु मां सदा। स्वप्ने जागरणे चैव पातु मां माधवः स्वयम।।
jale sthale cāntarikṣe nṛsiṃhaḥ pātu māṃ sadā| svapne jāgaraṇe caiva pātu māṃ mādhavaḥ svayam||
Vasiṣṭha said: Let Nṛsiṃha (Man-lion) protect me always in water, ground and the atmosphere. Let Mādhava himself protect me during sleeping and waking hours.

सर्वान्तरात्मा निर्लिप्तः पातु मां सर्वतो विभुः। इति ते कथितं भूप सर्वाघौघविनाशनम।।
sarvāntarātmā nirliptaḥ pātu māṃ sarvato vibhuḥ| iti te kathitaṃ bhūpa sarvāghaughavināśanam||
Vasiṣṭha said: The immanent soul of everyone is unattached—let that lord protect me from all sides.”

त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम कवचं परमेशितुः। मया श्रुतं शिवमुखात्प्रवक्तव्यं न कस्यचित।।
trailokyavijayaṃ nāma kavacaṃ parameśituḥ| mayā śrutaṃ śivamukhātpravaktavyaṃ na kasyacit||
Vasiṣṭha said: The immanent soul of everyone is unattached—let that lord protect me from all sides.”

गुरुमभ्यर्च्य विधिवत्कवचं धारयेत्तु यः। कण्ठे वा दक्षिणे बाहौ सो ऽपि विष्णुर्न संशयः।।
gurumabhyarcya vidhivatkavacaṃ dhārayettu yaḥ| kaṇṭhe vā dakṣiṇe bāhau so 'pi viṣṇurna saṃśayaḥ||
Vasiṣṭha said: He who, after duly worshipping the preceptor, wears the Kavaca (i.e. this amulet) round his neck or on the right arm, is undoubtedly Viṣṇu himself.

स साधको ऽवसद्यत्र तत्र वाणीरमे स्थिते। यदि स्यात्सिद्धकवचो जीवन्मुक्तो न संशयः।।
sa sādhako 'vasadyatra tatra vāṇīrame sthite| yadi syātsiddhakavaco jīvanmukto na saṃśayaḥ||
Vasiṣṭha said: Wherever the aspirant devotee of the Kavaca lives, goddess of speeeh and goddess of fortune too stay there. If a man attains this perfect Kavaca he is undoubtedly a Jivan-mukta (a soul liberated while alive). Surely he shall obtain the benefit of worship performed for ten million years.

निश्चितं कोटिवर्षाणां पूजायाः फलमाप्नुयात। राजसूर्यसहस्राणि वाजपेयशतानि च।।
niścitaṃ koṭivarṣāṇāṃ pūjāyāḥ phalamāpnuyāt| rājasūryasahasrāṇi vājapeyaśatāni ca||
Vasiṣṭha said: Wherever the aspirant devotee of the Kavaca lives, goddess of speeeh and goddess of fortune too stay there. If a man attains this perfect Kavaca he is undoubtedly a Jivan-mukta (a soul liberated while alive). Surely he shall obtain the benefit of worship performed for ten million years.

Vasiṣṭha said: Wherever the aspirant devotee of the Kavaca lives, goddess of speeeh and goddess of fortune too stay there. व्रतोपवासनियमाः स्वाध्यायाध्ययने तथा। स्नानं च सर्वतीर्थेषु नास्यार्हन्ति कलामपि।।
vratopavāsaniyamāḥ svādhyāyādhyayane tathā| snānaṃ ca sarvatīrtheṣu nāsyārhanti kalāmapi||
Vasiṣṭha said: Holy rites, fasts and other religious observances, the self-study of the Vedas, the repetition of the Vedic Mantras and the holy dip in all pilgrim centres and sacred rivers do not deserve even a fraction of this (Kavaca).

सिद्धत्वममरत्वं च दासत्वं श्रीहरेरपि। यदि स्यात्सिद्धकवचः सर्वं प्राप्नोति निश्चितम।।
siddhatvamamaratvaṃ ca dāsatvaṃ śrīharerapi| yadi syātsiddhakavacaḥ sarvaṃ prāpnoti niścitam||
Vasiṣṭha said: If a person attains the Kavaca perfectly, he shall certainly attain everything viz. the status of a Siddha, immortality and the status of an attendant of Śrīhari.

स भवेत्सिद्धकवचो दशलक्षं जपेत्तु यः। यो भवेत्सिद्धकवचो विजयी स भवेद ध्रुवम।।
sa bhavetsiddhakavaco daśalakṣaṃ japettu yaḥ| yo bhavetsiddhakavaco vijayī sa bhaved dhruvam||
Vasiṣṭha said: He who reapeats the Mantra a million times shall achieve the mastery of the Kavaca. If one has achieved the mastery of the Kavaca he shall certainly be victorious.

Brahmanda Purana (GRETIL / Wisdomlib) · Chapter 33 · Verse 36
राज्यं देयं शिरो देयं प्राणा देयाश्च भूपते। एतत्तु कवचं वत्स न देयं संकटे ऽपि च।।
rājyaṃ deyaṃ śiro deyaṃ prāṇā deyāśca bhūpate| etattu kavacaṃ vatsa na deyaṃ saṃkaṭe 'pi ca||
Vasiṣṭha said: A kingdom may be given away, even head may be dispensed with, the very vital airs may be given over, O King. But, O dear one, this Kavaca should not be given away even in an emergency.

मया प्रकाशितं यत्ते चैतेषां त्राणकारणात। ममाज्ञाकरणाच्चैव तद्विद्धि कुलभास्कर। इदं धृत्वा तु कवचं चक्रवर्त्ती भवान्भव।।
mayā prakāśitaṃ yatte caiteṣāṃ trāṇakāraṇāt| mamājñākaraṇāccaiva tadviddhi kulabhāskara| idaṃ dhṛtvā tu kavacaṃ cakravarttī bhavānbhava||
Vasiṣṭha said: Understand this, O Sun of the family, that this has been revealed to you for the purpose of protecting all these (?) and also because you have carried out my behest. Be an Emperor by wearing this Kavaca.
