Maitreya said: Thus, the sage, remembering the compassionate and graceful daughter of the mind, spoke.

The sage said: Do not grieve, O prince, for the self is not to be denigrated. O Bhagavan, the imperishable is attained from afar.

You are steadfast, may auspiciousness be yours, through self-control, discipline, and through the wealth of austerity and charity, worship the Lord with faith.

He, worshipped by you, O white one, will bestow upon me fame; may he cut the knot of your heart, O Brahman, the embodiment of the Absolute.

Maitreya said: Even Devahuti, with reverence, worshipped the person who is the eternal truth, the guru.

In that great time, the Lord Madhusudana, having attained strength, was born like fire in a dreadful situation.

Then, in the sky, the clouds resounded with musical instruments. The Gandharvas sang and the Apsaras danced with joy.

The divine flowers fell, rejected by the celestial beings. All directions and the waters and minds became joyful.

That abode of Kardama Ashrama, associated with the Sarasvati, was visited by the Self-born along with the sages like Marichi.

The Supreme Lord, the ultimate Brahman, by His essence, vanquished the enemies. The wise one, born without a father, came into being for the knowledge of the truth.

With a pure mind, he honored that which was desired, and when the beings were delighted, he addressed the mud.

Brahma said: O son, you have created a great honor for me, as I have received the words from you, who respect me.

This much service is to be rendered by the sons to their father, as the guru's words are to be accepted with respect.

These daughters of yours, O dear one, are of excellent disposition; they will create this universe in various ways through their powers.

Therefore, according to the nature and inclination of the chief sages, let the sons expand your glory in the world.

I know the first person who has descended by His own power, who bears the body of all beings, Kapila the sage.

By the yoga of knowledge and wisdom, He uplifts the actions of those with matted hair. He is Hiranyakesha, Padmaksha, the one with the lotus seal and lotus feet.

This one, who has entered your womb, is Kaitabhardhana. He will cut the knot of ignorance and doubt and will wander the earth.

This one is the leader of the perfected beings, well-regarded by the Sankhya philosophers. In the world, he is known as Kapila, the one who increases your fame.

Maitreya said: The creator of the universe, along with the sons, consoled them. The swan, with the swan, traveled to the supreme abode.

When the hundredth year was completed, Kardama, prompted by the Lord, gave his daughter to the creator of the universe as instructed.

To Marichi, he gave a portion of the time, and to Anasuya and Atri, he granted faith and offerings.

To Pulaha, he granted a suitable position, and to the ritual, he gave the action. He also bestowed fame upon Bhrigu and the wife of Vasishtha, Arundhati.

He then gave peace to the Atharva, by which the sacrifice is performed. The foremost of the Brahmins, having completed the ritual, always worshipped him.

Then the sages, having completed their marriages, invited him and established themselves in their respective hermitages.

He, knowing the three ages, descended and, approaching the secluded ones, bowed down and spoke.

Alas, for those suffering in hell, may the deities surely grant relief over time.

The ascetics strive to see that state, attained through the perfection of many births and through the practice of yoga and meditation.

He is indeed the Lord, who, disregarding the city, is born in the homes of the villagers, nurturing his own.

You have descended to my home to fulfill your truthful words; the Lord, desiring to bestow knowledge, enhances the devotees.

Those forms of yours, O Bhagavan, are indeed pleasing to the eyes of your devotees.

I surrender to you, who are worthy of eternal worship, the seat of your feet, endowed with wealth, renunciation, fame, knowledge, valor, and splendor.

I surrender to the supreme, the great person, the time, the poet, the threefold protector of the worlds, Kapila, who is guided by the self-experienced.

Today, I ask you, O Lord of beings, who have descended into the ocean of existence, I shall wander, free from sorrow, while meditating on you in my heart.

The Blessed Lord said: What I have spoken is indeed the truth of the world, a proof of the worldly truth. Thus, I have spoken to you, O sage.

This is my birth in this world, for the seekers of liberation, due to the desire for knowledge of the truths, and for the realization of the self.

This path of the self is unmanifest and has been lost over time. Know that this body is sustained by me to guide you on it.

Go, as you wish, having asked me. With your actions surrendered to me, conquer the very difficult death and worship me for immortality.

I am the self-luminous light, the essence of all beings hidden in their hearts. By seeing the self in the self, you become free from sorrow and fear.

I shall impart the knowledge that is purely spiritual and calming for all actions, by which one can transcend fear.

Maitreya said: Thus, having been addressed by Kapila, the Prajapati, pleased, went to the forest.

The sage, having taken a vow, remained silent, taking refuge in the self, unattached, wandering like a fire without a home.

The mind, engaged in Brahman, perceives that which is the supreme reality beyond the assembly of qualities, revealed through single-minded devotion.

Free from egoism and possessiveness, with a balanced vision, steady in self-awareness, calm like the ocean.

In Vāsudeva, the Lord, all-knowing, in the innermost self, through supreme devotion, the liberated soul attains freedom from bondage.

The self, present in all beings, was seen by him. All beings were seen in the Lord and also the self.

Free from desire and aversion, with an even mind everywhere, the devotee of the Lord attains the supreme destination.
