Vidura said: The mind of Svayambhuva is of the highest regard. Please tell me, O Lord, where the progeny were born through mating.

Priyavrata and Uttanapada, the sons of Svayambhuva, governed the earth with righteousness, which is endowed with seven islands.

His daughter, O Brahman, is known as Devahūti. She is the wife of Kardama, as stated by Prajāpati.

In her, that great yogi, endowed with the characteristics of yoga, generated numerous seeds. Please tell me about that.

Ruchirya, the Lord, or Daksha, the son of Brahma, created beings after obtaining a human wife.

Maitreya said: The Lord, Kardama, instructed to create beings. He performed austerities on the banks of the Sarasvatī for ten thousand years.

Then, being absorbed in meditation and engaged in the practice of action, Kardama approached Hari with devotion, who grants boons to the surrendered.

At that time, the Lord with lotus-like eyes, being pleased, revealed Himself in the form of Brahman.

He appeared as the pure, sun-like figure adorned with a garland of white lotuses, with a gentle blue throat and a face like a lotus.

He wore a crown and earrings, held a conch, discus, and mace, and had a playful smile with captivating eyes.

With His lotus-like feet placed on the ground, He saw the goddess of fortune, who was situated in the sky, adorned with the Kaustubha gem.

Overjoyed, he fell on the ground, having achieved his desires, and with folded hands, he sang praises of the Lord, whose nature is bliss.

The sage said: O Lord, by your divine vision, we are blessed to see you. The sight of you, which is revered by the wise, grants liberation to those who are firmly established in yoga.

Those who are deluded by your illusion worship your lotus feet, O Lord of the ocean of existence. Even those who are bound by desires in hell are among them.

Thus, I desire to approach the cow of plenty, who is of the same nature as you. I seek the root of all roots, the wish-fulfilling cow, who is difficult to attain.

O Lord of all beings, by your words, the creatures of this world are bound by desire. I also carry the offerings to you, O Lord, who are the master of the white-eyed.

Leaving behind the worlds and the beings that follow them, those who take refuge at your feet are imbued with the qualities of your praise, which flows like nectar.

The threefold path of the eternal, the infinite, and the transient is like a fierce river that tears apart the world.

The one who is self-existent, desiring to create the world, manifests through the second self, and by his own power, he creates and consumes.

This is not the desired state of the Lord, which is obscured by illusion, and is seen in subtle forms.

I bow to you, who are the essence of all creation, the one who operates the world through your own illusion, and whose lotus feet are worthy of reverence.

The sage spoke. Thus, addressed by the lotus-naveled one, he spoke with a sweet smile and a glance full of love.

The Supreme Lord said: Knowing your essence, I was worshiped by you in the past for the purpose of self-discipline.

Indeed, it would never be false to me, O ruler of the people, worthy of respect. Among beings like you, my mind is deeply absorbed.

The son of Prajapati, Manu, renowned and auspicious, who resides in Brahmavarta, governs the seven oceans of the earth.

And here, the sage-king, with a hundred forms, will come to see you, O knowledgeable in righteousness.

He will give you a daughter with dark eyes, endowed with youth and virtues, suitable for the husband you seek.

Your heart is absorbed where the noble maidens of kings will soon worship you, O Brahman.

She who will give birth to the strength of the self, in nine forms, will be the sage's strength, relying on you.

By properly following the instructions, you will attain me, O best of the wise, as all actions are sanctified in me.

Having shown compassion to living beings and given fearlessness to the self, you will see the world in me and also me in the self.

With my portion, I will enter your field, O great sage, through your strength, and I will reveal the essence of truth.

Maitreya said: Thus speaking, the Lord, who is the inner witness, went to the Bindu Sarovara, attended by Sarasvati.

Observing him, the remaining Siddhas praised the Siddha path, listening to the hymn sung by the divine swans.

Then, as the white one departed, the sage Kardama, the Lord, remained at the Bindu Sarovara, preserving that time.

Manu, taking his chariot adorned with a Shatakumbha, traveled the earth with his wife and daughter.

In that place, the Lord, who wields the divine bow, instructed the sage about the means to reach the ashram of the peaceful vow.

In which the eyes of the Lord did not shed tears, filled with compassion for the surrendered.

That is the lake named Bindusar, filled with the waters of the sacred Sarasvati, served by a host of great sages.

Adorned with sacred trees and creepers, resonating with the sounds of pious animals and birds, rich in fruits and flowers of all seasons, accompanied by the beauty of the forest king.

With the flocks of intoxicated birds, the buzzing of drunken bees, and the call of the intoxicated cuckoo resembling the sound of a flute.

Adorned with kadamba, champaka, ashoka, karanja, and bakula trees, embellished with jasmine, mandara, and kutaja flowers, and the blossoms of the orange tree.

With the sounds of the swans, cranes, waterfowl, and the cooing of the cuckoos, the place is melodiously filled.

Similarly, surrounded by deer, wild boars, elephants, and the tails of the cows, it is adorned with various creatures.

Entering that sacred place, the king along with his son saw a sage seated there, who was like a sacrificial fire.

Illuminated by his form, and through intense austerity, he was not to be tolerated due to the affectionate glance of the Lord.

Tall, with lotus-like eyes, matted hair, and wearing a cloth, he approached the unrefined one as appropriate.

Then, the king, bowing down before the deity, received him with appropriate worship.

The sage, seated and composed, pleased by the worthy offering, spoke with a gentle voice, remembering the command of the Lord.

Certainly, O God, your movement is for the protection of the virtuous and for the destruction of the wicked; you are indeed the power of Hari.

To him who holds the forms of the sun, moon, fire, and wind, and who is the embodiment of Dharma, I offer my salutations.

When he mounted the chariot adorned with the victorious gem, the fierce bow, with its great sound, terrified the sinful.

The army of the enemy, trembling, shakes the earth, while the great army, like the sun, moves about.

At that time, all the bridges, bound by the varna and ashrama, O king, would be broken by the demons.

Adharma will arise, and the greedy men will be like fish. This world, resting upon you, will perish due to the demons.

Yet I ask you, O hero, for what purpose have you come here? We shall understand that with a clear heart.
