Maitreya said: Hearing this, the great-minded one, having understood the words of the Lord, the proud one, knowing the path of Hari, quickly entered the netherworld.

He saw there the earth-holder, lifted by the fierce tusks of the wild boar, and the deer, who was laughing at the beauty of the reddish hue.

O Lord, release us from this earthly sacrifice, which is dedicated to the universal creation. There is no welfare for those who are approached by the lowly swine.

You, who are beyond the reach of our enemies, are the one who destroys the demons through illusion. Establishing your yogic power, you remove the ignorance of the foolish.

When you are established, the sages and the gods take away the offerings, and they will not be the root of existence in the future.

Being tormented by the enemy, seeing the fearful city with tusks, he, like a bee, was struck down in the midst of the water.

As the golden-haired one, like a fish, was emerging from the water, the terrible-toothed one, with a roaring sound, spoke: 'What is it that you find fault with in the one who is departing?'

He placed his essence in the water, which was above the village, and was filled with flowers by the deities who were praising him, while he was being observed by the enemies.

The one who is attached to the supreme, who is a great serpent with golden and colorful fangs, who is fierce and speaks harsh words, he spoke to him.

You are indeed the leader of the herds, may you grant us safety, O Ashvanuha. Establishing us, he who wipes away our tears, is not one who breaks his promise.

Maitreya said: Angered greatly, he was seized by the Lord and was taken away. He, playing like a serpent, took away the fierce anger.

Creating in anger, with the breath of a furious mind, the demon seized the Lord with great force.

But the Lord, releasing the force of the mace, did not deceive the enemy in battle. Like a yogi, he mounted the end of the demon.

Once again taking the mace, the furious Lord chased him repeatedly, striking him with great force.

Then the Lord struck the mace on the brow of the demon, who was in the form of a boar, and he, being skilled in the use of the mace, defeated him.

Thus, with the two maces, the powerful ones, the Lord and Hari fought fiercely against each other.

As they struck each other with their sharp maces, blood flowed from their wounded bodies, resembling the streams of a river.

The great soul, who was caught in the illusion of the demon's sacrifice, desired to crush the Kauravas, surrounded by sages who were eager to see the battle.

Seeing the demon, the Lord, with great valor and having prepared for retaliation, called out to Narayana, the original boar.

Brahma said: This is your divine foot, which the gods approach, the essence of the learned, and the refuge of the innocent beings.

The fearsome Asura, who is born of the earth, wanders through the worlds, seeking those who are not restrained.

O Lord, the illusionist, proud and unrestrained, playfully rises like a child, as if to challenge the supreme reality.

As long as this does not grow, the dreadful one, having attained his time, should abandon his divine illusion.

This is the most fearsome twilight, O Lord, which brings forth the victory of the gods, and approaches all beings.

Now, this yoga of the moment has indeed come. O Shiva, may you swiftly lead us, your friends, across the difficult path.

By fate, you have encountered death yourself. Having defeated him in battle, grant shelter to the worlds.
