Maitreya said: Hearing the song from the self-realized one, they, doubting the cause, all returned to the heavenly realms.

Diti, indeed, at the command of her husband, in her anxiety about her offspring, gave birth to two sons, the virtuous Yama, after a hundred years of fulfillment.

Many disturbances arose there, falling upon the newly born. In the sky, on earth, and in the atmosphere, the world was filled with both.

The mountains and the earth trembled, and all directions were illuminated. The stars fell, and the comets appeared, causing distress to the world.

The wind blew fiercely, causing great discomfort, repeatedly creating a tumult. The great lord of the mountains, the wind, raised the dust.

The lightning rose, and the clouds burst, causing the loss of the portion. In the sky, entering the darkness, the foot was not visible.

The sky roared with the sound of thunder, and the ocean was disturbed. The rivers and the dry lotus flowers trembled.

Again, the boundaries became filled with the sounds of the moon and sun; the chariots and their wheels resonated from the openings.

In the inner villages, they vomited fire from their mouths; the auspicious ones howled with the cries of jackals and owls.

Like music, the lions of the village released various sounds, raising their heads in a tumultuous manner.

The donkeys, with their harsh hooves, struck the ground; intoxicated, they ran in groups.

Crying, the birds, frightened by the noise, flew out of their nests; the animals in the forest made their excretions.

The cows here are filled with milk and the waters are abundant; the trees, having shed their divine forms, fell down without the wind.

The planets, shining with auspiciousness, and the stars too, are illuminated; the crooked paths have been traversed, and they fought with each other.

Seeing other great calamities, the wise people, except for the sons of Brahma, feared the universal deluge.

The two demons, suddenly manifesting their own strength, grew like mountains with their bodies, like the lord of the mountains.

With their arms shining like golden crowns, they touched the heavens; shaking the earth with their feet, they stood firm.

The Prajapati, named Tayo, who was born from his own body, is known as Hiranyakashipu, whom the progeny recognize as Hiranyaksha, born from the same source.

Hiranyakashipu wielded the Brahma boon through his arms, controlling the worlds along with their guardians, and thus death could not approach.

Hiranyaksha's brother, who was dear to him and always pleased him, wielded a mace and ascended to the heavens while hunting in battle.

Seeing him, adorned with the difficult-to-bear golden anklets, the great mace resting on his shoulder, was enhanced by the garland of victory.

The fearless, endowed with mental strength, became frightened; the gods, terrified, fled in fear of the eagle.

Seeing the great demon king, he did not see the demigods and their leaders, and he cried out loudly.

Then, having stopped, he played, and with a deep, terrifying roar, the great being sounded like an intoxicated elephant.

When Varuna entered, the soldiers of the Yadavas, alert and fearless, were struck by his power and fled far away.

He unleashed a powerful wave against the army of the great demon, like a fierce wind, and struck them with his mace.

There, the chief of the Yadavas, Prachetas, smiled and bowed down, and spoke to the king of the gods.

You are the protector of the worlds, the great lord, the destroyer of the valiant pride of the proud. Having conquered all the demons and the asuras in the world, you were worshipped by the kings.

Thus, being intoxicated with the essence of knowledge, the Lord, who is the master of the universe, calmed his anger with his own wisdom and said, 'We have reached a state of tranquility.'

I see no other person like the ancient one, who is skilled in the art of battle and who will worship you in the fight. He is the one whom the wise praise.

That hero, having approached, will be astonished. You will lie down in the heroic bed surrounded by heroes. He who bears your form for the peace of the untruthful.
