Vidura said: When the Supreme Lord, the Creator Brahma, was hidden, He created beings in various forms, both physical and mental.

The universe is indeed Brahman, consisting of the essence of Vishnu, manifested through the divine energy, limited by the Lord, and in an unmanifest form through time.

The transformation of this is threefold due to the qualities of time, substance, and attributes; the first is the great creation, which is the imbalance of qualities in the self.

The second is where I am, where the rise of substance, knowledge, and action occurs; the third is the creation of beings, which is the essence of substance endowed with power.

The fourth creation is the one that is knowledge and action-oriented. The creation of the gods is of the Vaikarika nature, and the fifth is the mind.

The seventh creation is that of the Lord, which is characterized by passion. It is the main creation and has six varieties.

The eighth creation is the Tirashcha, which is considered to have twenty-eight varieties. It is characterized by ignorance and is known to the heart's intuition.

The cow, the buffalo, Krishna, the pig, and the cows are all here. These two-legged animals are indeed the best among beings.

खरोऽश्वोऽश्वतरो गौरः शरभश्चमरी तथा। एते चैकशफाः क्षत्तः शृणु पञ्चनखान् पशून्
The donkey, the horse, the bull, the deer, and the tortoise are also among these single-horned animals. Listen to the five-toed creatures.

The dog, the jackal, the wolf, the tiger, the cat, and the rabbit are here. The lion, the monkey, the elephant, the tortoise, and the crocodile are also included.

The crow, the vulture, the heron, the owl, and the peacock are among the birds. These are the birds like the swan and the crane.

अर्वाक्स्रोतस्तु नवमः क्षत्तरेकविधो नृणाम्। रजोऽधिकाः कर्मपरा दुःखे च सुखमानिनः
The ninth type of beings is the one with the stream of consciousness. Those who are more inclined towards action are in sorrow and happiness.

वैकृतास्त्रय एवैते देवसर्गश्च सत्तम। वैकारिकस्तु यः प्रोक्तः कौमारस्तूभयात्मकः
These three are the manifestations of the divine: the creation of beings is indeed the best. The one that is said to be of the nature of transformation is the youthful form, which is both dual and singular.

देवसर्गश्चाष्टविधो विबुधाः पितरोऽसुराः। गन्धर्वाप्सरसः सिद्धा यक्षरक्षांसि चारणाः
The divine creation is of eight kinds: the gods, ancestors, demons, celestial beings, nymphs, perfected beings, yakshas, rakshasas, and charanas.

भूतप्रेतपिशाचाश्च विद्याध्राः किन्नरादयः। दशैते विदुराख्याताः सर्गास्ते विश्वसृक्कृताः
Ghosts, spirits, and demons, as well as beings like Vidyadharas and Kinnaras, are also included. These ten are known as creations of the universe.

अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि वंशान् मन्वन्तराणि च। एवं रजःप्लुतः स्रष्टा कल्पादिष्वात्मभूर्हरिः। सृजत्यमोघसङ्कल्प आत्मैवात्मानमात्मना
Therefore, I shall now speak of the lineages and the Manvantaras. Thus, the creator, who is immersed in the mode of passion, is Hari, the self-manifested one, who creates through his own will.
