Soot said: Having arrived in Dwarka, desiring to see his relatives, he wanted to know the activities of the virtuous Krishna.

The fierce movement of time, contrary to the righteous, brings forth the worst news for men driven by anger, greed, and falsehood.

The wind blows, touching like a thorn, releasing the darkness with dust; the clouds rain blood, terrifying from all sides.

Behold the sun, deprived of its brilliance, in the sky, being crushed by the planets, shining like a conflagration with the assembled beings.

The rivers and streams are agitated, the lakes and minds too; what will this time of death do?

The calves do not drink the milk, nor do the mothers milk them; the cows, with tearful faces, do not rejoice in the pasture.

The deities seem to weep, and they tremble; these towns and villages, the gardens and ashrams, are devoid of prosperity and joy. What sin are they showing us?

Surely, by these great calamities, the earth is bereft of the glory of the Lord, devoid of the splendor of the unique person.

Thus contemplating, with a mind disturbed by the ominous sight, the king returned to Brahman, the one with the monkey flag of the Yadus.

He fell at her feet as before, with his face down, creating tears from the lotus-like eyes.

The king, seeing the distressed heart, inquired about the son of the shadow among friends, remembering the words of Narada.

Yudhishthira said: Are our relatives in Anartapura living happily, the Madhus, Bhojas, Dasharhas, and Satvatas, along with the Andhakas and Vrishnis?

Is the brave maternal grandfather well, O dear one? Is the maternal uncle along with his brothers safe and sound?

Seven sisters and their husbands, along with maternal uncles and their sons, are living in peace, headed by Devaki and others.

Is King Ahuka alive? Is this son of his, along with his son, Hridi, and Akroora, Jayanta, and Gadadhara, alive?

Is everything well with you? Is Lord Rama, the master of the Satvatas, safe and happy? Have you defeated your enemies?

Is the great charioteer Pradyumna well among all the Vrishnis? The deep-voiced Aniruddha is flourishing, O Lord.

Sushena and Charudeshna, the sons of Jambavati, along with others like Karshni, are well.

Similarly, the followers of Shourya, including Shrutadeva and others, are well, O best of the Satvatas.

Are all those who take shelter of the arms of Rama and Krishna safe? Do our friends remember us well?

Even the Lord Govinda, who is devoted to His devotees and is the essence of Brahman, is surely happy in the city of Sudharma, surrounded by friends.

For the welfare and prosperity of the worlds, the Lord, who is the ocean of the Yadu dynasty, is indeed the source of infinite joy.

In the city where the mighty Yadavas are worshipped, they play in supreme bliss like great heroes.

By the service of whose feet, the eight thousand women of virtue and truth have been defeated, the Lord who wields the thunderbolt grants blessings.

The Yadavas, who are fearless and strong, repeatedly enter the assembly of Sudharma, which is brought forth by the strength of their feet.

O father, are you not afflicted by the loss of your brilliance? Have you not been disregarded, or have you been in a state of deep sleep?

Are you not harmed by inauspicious sounds and other obstacles? Is the promised gift not given to the deserving due to some intention?

Are you not compassionate towards the Brahmin, the child, the cow, the aged, the sick, and the woman who has taken refuge? Do not overlook the essence of those who seek shelter.

Are you not going to the place where the serpent resides, or to the woman who has been defeated? Do not let yourself be defeated by the inferior on the path.

Did you perhaps consume the aged and children? Have you performed any detestable act that is beyond your capacity?

O beloved one, do you not think that I am empty and devoid of the eternal bond of the heart?
