ऋ॒चा क॒पोतं॑ नुदत प्र॒णोद॒मिषं॒ मद॑न्तः॒ परि॒ गां न॑यामः । सं॒लो॒भय॑न्तो दुरि॒ता प॒दानि॑ हि॒त्वा न॒ ऊर्जं॒ प्र प॑दा॒त् पथि॑ष्ठः ॥१॥
ṛcā kapotaṃ nudata praṇodam iṣaṃ madantaḥ pari gāṃ nayāmaḥ. saṃlobhayanto duritā padāni hitvā na ūrjaṃ prapadāt pathiṣṭhaḥ.
With hymn we drive away the pigeon, the scarrer; rejoicing in food, we lead the cow around. Beguiling away the tracks of misfortune, leaving them, let him stride on the firm paths to nourishment.

परी॒मे॒३ग्निम॑र्षत॒ परी॒मे गाम॑नेषत । दे॒वेष्व॑क्रत॒ श्रवः॒ क इ॒माँ आ द॑धर्षति ॥२॥
parīm e’gnim arṣata parīm e gām aneṣata. deveṣv akrata śravaḥ ka imān ā dadharṣati.
Keep this one away from our fire; keep this one away from our cow. They have won renown among the gods—who will dare assail these?

यः प्र॑थ॒मः प्र॒वत॑मास॒साद॑ ब॒हुभ्यः॒ पन्था॑मनुपस्पशा॒नः । यो॒३स्येशे॑ द्वि॒पदो॒ यश्चतु॑ष्पद॒स्तस्मै॑ य॒माय॒ नमो॑ अस्तु मृ॒त्यवे॑ ॥३॥
yaḥ prathamaḥ pravatam āsasāda bahubhyaḥ panthām anupaspaśānaḥ. yo ’sya īśe dvipado yaś catuṣpadas tasmai yamāya namo astu mṛtyave.
He who first reached the downward slope, searching out the many paths; who rules over the two-footed and the four-footed—to that Yama, to Death, be our reverence.
