यो गि॒रिष्वजा॑यथा वी॒रुधां॒ बल॑वत्तमः । कुष्ठेहि॑ तक्मनाशन त॒क्मानं॑ ना॒शय॑न्नि॒तः ॥१॥
yo giriṣv ajāyathā vīrudhāṃ balavattamaḥ. kuṣṭhe hi takmanāśana takmānaṃ nāśayan nitaḥ.
You who were born in the mountains, strongest among herbs—O Kuṣṭha, slayer of fever, drive the fever out from here and destroy it.

सु॒प॒र्ण॒सुव॑ने गि॒रौ जा॒तं हि॒मव॑त॒स्परि॑ । धनै॑र॒भि श्रु॒त्वा य॑न्ति वि॒दुर्हि त॑क्म॒नाश॑नम्॥२॥
suparṇasuvane girau jātaṃ himavatas pari. dhanair abhi śrutvā yanti vidur hi takmanāśanam.
Born on the auspicious winged slope, on the mountain around Himavat—hearing of its riches, people come, for they know the herb that destroys fever.

aśvattho deva-sadanas tṛtīyasyām ito divi. tatrāmṛtasya cakṣaṇaṃ devāḥ kuṣṭham avanvata.
The aśvattha, divine seat, stands in the third heaven. There the gods discovered Kuṣṭha, the sight of immortality.

hiraṇyayī naur acarad hiraṇya-bandhanā divi tatra amṛtasya puṣpaṁ devāḥ kuṣṭham avanvata
A golden boat moved, bound with gold in the sky. There the gods discovered the flower of immortality, the Kuṣṭha.

hiraṇyāyaḥ panthāna āsann aritrāṇi hiraṇyayā nāvo hiraṇyayīr āsan yābhiḥ kuṣṭhaṁ nirāvahan
The paths were golden, and the oars were golden. The boats were golden, by which they ferried the Kuṣṭha.

Carry away this Kuṣṭha for me, the man; remove him; make him my remedy.

devebhyo adhi jāto’si somasyāsi sakhā hitaḥ sa prāṇāya vyānāya cakṣuṣe me asmai mṛḍa
You are born from the gods; you are Soma’s dear friend. Be gracious to me—for breath, for vital wind, for sight.

udaṅ jāto himavataḥ sa prācyāṁ nīyase janam tatra kuṣṭhasya nāmāny uttamāni vi bhejire
Born in the north, from Himavat, you are led to the eastern people. There the finest names of Kuṣṭha were apportioned.

uttamo nāma kuṣṭhasyottamo nāma te pitā | yakṣmaṃ ca sarvaṃ nāśaya takmānaṃ cā rásaṃ kṛdhi |
Exalted is the name of Kuṣṭha; exalted is the name of your forefather. Annihilate every yakṣma, and make the periodic fever sapless.

śīrṣāmayaṃ upahatya akṣyoḥ tanvor apaḥ | kuṣṭhas tat sarvaṃ niṣkarad daivaṃ samaha vṛṣṇyam |
Having struck down head-illness and that of the eyes and body—Kuṣṭha, drive all that out, by divine and potent force.
