६ जगती, ११ बृहतीगर्भा त्रिष्टुप्, १२ त्रिपदा यवमध्या गायत्री। विहृ॑दयं वैमन॒स्यं वदा॒मित्रे॑षु दुन्दुभे । वि॒द्वे॒षं कश्म॑शं भ॒यम॒मित्रे॑षु॒ नि द॑ध्म॒स्यवैनान् दुन्दुभे जहि ॥१॥
vihṛdayaṃ vaimanasyaṃ vadāmitreṣu dundubhe. vidveṣaṃ kaśmaśaṃ bhayam amitreṣu ni dadhanmasy avainān dundubhe jahi.
O war-drum, let us speak confusion of heart and discord among enemies. Cast among foes dissension, turmoil, and fear. O drum, smite them and destroy their force.

उ॒द्वेप॑माना॒ मन॑सा॒ चक्षु॑षा॒ हृद॑येन च । धाव॑न्तु॒ बिभ्य॑तो॒ऽमित्राः॑ प्रत्रा॒सेनाज्ये॑ हु॒ते॥२॥
udvepamānā manasā cakṣuṣā hṛdayena ca. dhāvantu bibhyato ’mitrāḥ pratrāsena ājye hute.
Let the enemies, trembling, leap up in mind, in eye, and in heart; let them run in fear when the ghee-offering is poured.

vānaspatyaḥ saṁbhṛta usriyābhir viśvagotryaḥ pratrasam amitrebhyo vadājyenābhighāritaḥ
The forest-born drum, gathered with the reddish cows, of all herds—let it, anointed with ghee for the battle, drive away the foes.

yathā mṛgāḥ saṁvijanta ārānyāḥ puruṣād adhi evā tvaṁ dundubhe ’mitrān abhi kranda pra trāsayātho cittāni mohaya
As forest deer shrink away from a man-eater, so you, Dundubhi, roar at the foes—strike terror and bewilder their minds.

yathā vṛkād ajāvayo dhāvanti bahu bibhyatīḥ evā tvaṁ dundubhe ’mitrān abhi kranda pra trāsayātho cittāni mohaya
As the she-goats flee in dread from a wolf, so you, Dundubhi, roar at the foes—strike terror and bewilder their minds.

yathā śyenāt patatriṇaḥ saṁvijante ahar divi siṁhasya stanathor yathā evā tvaṁ dundubhe ’mitrān abhi kranda pra trāsayātho cittāni mohaya
As birds scatter from the falcon, as by day from the lion’s roar, so you, Dundubhi, roar at the foes—strike terror and bewilder their minds.

परा॒मित्रा॑न् दुन्दु॒भिना॑ हरि॒णस्या॒जिने॑न च । सर्वे॑ दे॒वा अ॑तित्रस॒न् ये सं॑ग्रा॒मस्येशते ॥७॥
parām itrān dundubhinā hariṇasyājinena ca sarve devā atitrasañ ye saṅgrāmasyāśate
Drive away the foes with the Dundubhi and with the hide of the Hariṇa. Let all the gods make those who rule the battle utterly afraid.

यैरिन्द्रः॑ प्र॒क्रीड॑ते पद्घो॒षैश्छा॒यया॑ स॒ह। तैर॒मित्रा॑स्त्रसन्तु नो॒ऽमी ये यन्त्य॑नीक॒शः ॥८॥
yair indraḥ prakrīḍate padghoṣaiś chāyayā saha | tair amitrās trasantu no ’mī ye yanty anīkaśaḥ
May those with whom Indra sports—whose footfalls thunder, who move with shadow—make our foes afraid, those who advance without battle-lines.

jyāghoṣā dundubhayo bhi krośantu yā diśaḥ | senāḥ parājitā yatīr amitrāṇām anīkaśaḥ
Let the bow-twangs and kettledrums roar in all directions. Let the routed hosts depart, the enemy ranks without array.

आदि॑त्य॒ चक्षु॒रा द॑त्स्व॒ मरी॑च॒योऽनु॑ धावत । प॒त्स॒ङ्गिनी॒रा स॑जन्तु॒ विग॑ते बाहुवी॒र्येऽ॥१०॥
āditya cakṣur ā datsva marīcayo ’nu dhāvata | patsaṅginīrā sajantu vigate bāhuvīrye
Grant the eye of Āditya; let the rays pursue. Let the banded snares hold fast when the foe’s arm-strength is spent.

यू॒यमु॒ग्रा म॑रुतः पृश्निमातर॒ इन्द्रे॑ण यु॒जा प्र मृ॑णीत॒ शत्रू॑न्। सोमो॒ राजा॒ वरु॑णो॒ राजा॑ महादे॒व उ॒त मृ॒त्युरिन्द्रः॑ ॥११॥
yūyam ugrā marutaḥ pṛśnimātara indreṇa yujā pra mṛṇīta śatrūn | somo rājā varuṇo rājā mahādeva uta mṛtyur indraḥ
You fierce Maruts, born of Pṛśni, smite the foes with Indra yoked at your side. Soma is king, Varuṇa is king, the great god—and Mṛtyu—and Indra.

etā devasenāḥ sūryaketavaḥ sacetasaḥ | amitrān no jayantu svāhā
These divine hosts, sun-bannered and keen of mind, may they defeat our enemies. Svāhā.
