समि॑द्धो अ॒द्य मनु॑षो दुरो॒णे दे॒वो दे॒वान् य॑जसि जातवेदः । आ च॒ वह॑ मित्रमहश्चिकि॒त्वान्त्वं दू॒तः क॒विर॑सि॒ प्रचे॑ताः ॥१॥
samiddho adya manuṣo duroṇe devo devān yajasi jātavedas ā ca vaha mitram ahaś cikitvān tvaṃ dūtaḥ kavir asi pracetāḥ
Kindled today on the mortal’s hearth, O Jātavedas, god, you worship the gods. Bring Mitra and the radiant one, the discerning; as messenger you are the seer, all-knowing.

तनू॑नपात् प॒थ ऋ॒तस्य॒ याना॒न् मध्वा॑ सम॒ञ्जन्त्स्व॑दया सुजिह्व । मन्मा॑नि धी॒भिरु॒त य॒ज्ञमृ॒न्धन् दे॑व॒त्रा च॑ कृणुह्यध्व॒रं नः ॥२॥
tanūnapāt patha ṛtasya yānān madhvā samañjann svadayā sujihva manmāni dhībhir uta yajñam ṛndhan devatrā ca kṛṇuhy adhvaraṃ naḥ
O Tanūnapāt, on the path of ṛta convey the offerings, sweetened with honey, with your gracious tongue. With our thoughts and hymns, further the sacrifice; for the gods make our rite well-ordered.

आ॒जुह्वा॑न॒ ईड्यो॒ बन्द्य॒श्चा या॑ह्यग्ने॒ वसु॑भिः स॒जोषाः॑ । त्वं दे॒वाना॑मसि यह्व॒ होता॒ स ए॑नान् यक्षीषि॒तो यजी॑यान्॥३॥
ājuhvāna īdyo bandyaś ca yāhy agne vasubhiḥ sajoṣāḥ tvaṃ devānām asi yahva hotā sa enān yakṣīṣito yajīyān
Being invoked, worthy of praise and homage, come, Agni, in harmony with the Vasus. You are the mighty Hotṛ of the gods—therefore worship them and sacrifice most worthily.

प्रा॒चीनं॑ ब॒र्हिः प्र॒दिशा॑ पृथि॒व्या वस्तो॑र॒स्या वृ॑ज्यते॒ अग्रे॒ अह्ना॑म्। व्युऽप्रथते वित॒रं वरी॑यो दे॒वेभ्यो॒ अदि॑तये स्यो॒नम्॥४॥
prācīnaṃ barhiḥ pradiśā pṛthivyā vastor asyā vṛjyate agre ahnām vy uprathate vitaraṃ varīyo devebhyo aditaye syonam
The eastern-facing barhis is spread to the quarter of earth, the dwelling’s seat is laid at the fore of days. Broadly it extends, the further, more spacious, restful for the gods, for Aditi.

व्यच॑स्वतीरुर्वि॒या वि श्र॑यन्तां॒ पति॑भ्यो॒ न जन॑यः॒ शुम्भ॑मानाः । देवी॑र्द्वारो बृहतीर्विश्वमिन्वा दे॒वेभ्यो॑ भवत सुप्राय॒णाः ॥५॥
vyacasvatīr urviyā vi śrayantāṃ patibhyo na janayaḥ śumbhamānāḥ devīr dvāro bṛhatīr viśvaminvā devebhyo bhavata suprāyaṇāḥ
May the far-shining, widely ranging, well-adorned Ladies go forth to their lords; O great Divine Doors, pervading all, be auspicious guides for the gods.

आ सुष्वय॑न्ती यज॒ते उ॒पाके॑ उ॒षासा॒नक्ता॑ सदतां॒ नि योनौ॑ । दि॒व्ये योष॑णे बृह॒ती सु॑रु॒क्मे अधि॒ श्रियं॑ शुक्र॒पिशं॒ दधा॑ने ॥६॥
ā suṣvayantī yajate upāke uṣāsā naktā sadatāṃ ni yonau divye yoṣaṇe bṛhatī surukme adhi śriyaṃ śukrapiśaṃ dadhāne
Let Ushas and Naktā, well-yoked at the offering and the oblation, sit down in the womb; in the celestial bridal chamber, lofty and bright, bearing resplendent beauty, they set the radiant splendor on high.

दैव्या॒ होता॑रा प्रथ॒मा सुवाचा॒ मिमा॑ना य॒ज्ञं मनु॑षो॒ यज॑ध्यै । प्र॒चो॒दय॑न्ता वि॒दथे॑षु का॒रू प्रा॒चीनं॒ ज्योतिः॑ प्र॒दिशा॑ दि॒शन्ता॑ ॥७॥
daivyā hotārā prathamā suvācā mimānā yajñaṃ manuṣo yajadhyai pracodayantā vidatheṣu kārū prācīnaṃ jyotiḥ pradiśā diśantā
The two divine Hotṛs, first and of fair speech, measuring out the sacrifice for men to offer, stirring the poets in assemblies, point to the ancient light from the fore-direction.

आ नो॑ यज्ञं भार॑ती॒ तूय॑मे॒त्विडा॑ मनु॒ष्वदि॒ह चे॒तय॑न्ती । ति॒स्रो दे॒वीर्ब॒र्हिरेदं स्यो॒नं सर॑स्वतीः॒ स्वप॑सः सदन्ताम्॥८॥
ā no yajñaṃ bhāratī tūyam etu iḍā manuṣv ad iha cetayantī tisro devīr barhir edaṃ syonaṃ sarasvatīḥ svapasaḥ sadantām
Let Bhāratī come to our sacrifice with protection, kindling understanding among men here; let the three goddesses, Sarasvatīs of good works, sit on this pleasant barhis.

य इ॒मे द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी जनि॑त्री रू॒पैरपिं॑श॒द् भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ । तम॒द्य हो॑तरिषि॒तो यजी॑यान् दे॒वं त्वष्टा॑रमि॒हय॑क्षि वि॒द्वान्॥९॥
ya ime dyāvāpṛthivī janitrī rūpair apiṃśad bhuvanāni viśvā tam adya hotariṣito yajīyān devaṃ tvaṣṭāram ihayakṣi vidvān
He by whose forms these two, Dyāvā and Pṛthivī, the mothers, shaped all the worlds—today, O Hotar, summon here the more-to-be-worshiped god, Tvaṣṭṛ, with knowledge.

उ॒पाव॑सृज॒ त्मन्या॑ सम॒ञ्जन् दे॒वानां॒ पाथ॑ ऋतु॒था ह॒वींषि॑ । वन॒स्पतिः॑ शमि॒ता दे॒वो अ॒ग्निः स्वद॑न्तु ह॒व्यं मधु॑ना घृ॒तेन॑ ॥१०॥
upāvasṛja tmanyā samañjan devānāṃ pātha ṛtuthā havīṃṣi. vanaspatiḥ śamitā devo agniḥ svadantu havyaṃ madhunā ghṛtena.
Release, well-set, the oblations to the gods along the rite’s path. May the divine Agni, the wood-borne, the kindler, taste the offering made sweet with honey and ghee.

स॒द्यो जा॒तो व्यऽमिमीत य॒ज्ञम॒ग्निर्दे॒वाना॑मभवत् पुरो॒गाः । अ॒स्य होतुः॑ प्र॒शिष्यृ॒तस्य॑ वा॒चि स्वाहा॑कृतं ह॒विर॑दन्तु दे॒वाः ॥११॥
sadyo jāto vy amimīta yajñam agnir devānām abhavat purogāḥ. asya hotuḥ praśiśyṛtasya vāci svāhākṛtaṃ havir adantu devāḥ.
Born this very moment, Agni measured out the sacrifice and became the forerunner of the gods. At the word of this trained Hotṛ, let the gods eat the oblation offered with svāhā.
