ऋध॑ङ्मन्त्रो॒ योनिं॒ य आ॑ब॒भूवामता॑सु॒र्वर्ध॑मानः सु॒जन्मा॑ । अद॑ब्धासु॒र्भ्राज॑मा॒नोऽहे॑व त्रि॒तो ध॒र्ता दा॑धार॒ त्रीणि॑ ॥१॥
ṛdhaṅ mantro yoniṃ ya ābabhūvā matāsuḥ vardhamānaḥ sujanmā adabdhāsur bhrājamāno ’heva trito dhartā dādhāra trīṇi
The mantra, thriving, has arisen to its womb, strong among the wise, growing, of noble birth. Undeceived, blazing, as it were a day, the third supporter has upheld the three.

आ यो धर्मा॑णि प्रथ॒मः स॒साद॒ ततो॒ वपूं॑षि कृणुषे पु॒रूणि॑ । धा॒स्युर्योनिं॑ प्रथ॒म आ वि॑वे॒शा यो वाच॒मनु॑दितां चि॒केत॑ ॥२॥
ā yo dharmāṇi prathamaḥ sasāda tato vapūṃṣi kṛṇuṣe purūṇi dhāsyur yoniṃ prathama ā viveśa yo vācam anuditāṃ ciketa
He who first sat down in the ordinances, from there you fashion many wondrous forms. The holder entered the womb first—he who understood speech and what is uttered.

यस्ते॒ शोका॑य त॒न्वंऽ रि॒रेच॒ क्षर॒द्धिर॑ण्यं॒ शुच॒योऽनु॒ स्वाः । अत्रा॑ दधेते अ॒मता॑नि॒ नामा॒स्मे वस्त्रा॑णि॒ विश॒ एर॑यन्ताम्॥३॥
yas te śokāya tanvaṃ rireca kṣaradd hiraṇyaṃ śucayo ’nu svāḥ atrā dadhete amātāni nāmā asme vastrāṇi viśa erayantām
The one who, for your sorrow, stretched out his body, pouring out gold, with the pure after the bliss—here I lay down your deathless names. May garments be ours; may they spread throughout the clan.

pra yad ete prataram pūrvyaṃ guḥ sadah sad ātiṣṭhanto ajuryam kaviḥ śuṣasya mātarā rihāṇe jāmyai dhuryaṃ patim erayethām
When these set out early, foremost, to the assembly and the dwelling, standing by the ageless one—the seer, with the two mothers of dryness appeased, for the home yoke the team; set in motion the lord of the house.

तदू॒ षु ते॑ म॒हत् पृ॑थुज्म॒न् नमः॑ क॒विः काव्ये॑न कृणोमि । यत् स॒म्यञ्चा॑वभि॒यन्ता॑व॒भि क्षामत्रा॑ म॒ही रोध॑चक्रे वावृ॒धेते॑ ॥५॥
tad ū ṣu te mahat pṛthujman namaḥ kaviḥ kāvyena kṛṇomi yat samyañ cāvabhiyantāv abhi kṣām atrā mahī rodhacakre vāvṛdhete
So then to you, vast and broad, I, the seer, offer great homage with poetry: you who, advancing straight on, have overpassed the earth; here the great one grew, the wheel on the firm ground revolved.

स॒प्त म॒र्यादाः॑ क॒वय॑स्ततक्षु॒स्तासा॒मिदेका॑म॒भ्यंऽहु॒रो गा॑त्। आ॒योर्ह॑ स्क॒म्भ उप॑मस्य नी॒डे प॒थां वि॑स॒र्गे ध॒रुणे॑षु तस्थौ ॥६॥
sapta maryādāḥ kavayas tatakṣuḥ tāsām id ekām abhyaṃhuro gāt āyor ha skambha upamasya nīḍe pathāṃ visarge dharuṇeṣu tasthau
Seven boundaries the seers fashioned; of these they said one was to be crossed. On Āyu’s prop, in the nest of similitude, at the parting of paths, on the supports, it stood.

उ॒तामृता॑सु॒र्व्रत॑ एमि कृ॒न्वन्नसु॑रा॒त्मा त॒न्व॑१स्तत् सु॒मद्गुः॑ । उ॒त वा॑ श॒क्रो रत्नं॒ दधा॑त्यू॒र्जया॑ वा॒ यत् सच॑ते हवि॒र्दाः ॥७॥
utāmṛtāsu vratā emi kṛnvan asurātmā tanvas tat sumadguḥ uta vā śakro ratnaṃ dadhāti ūrjayā vā yat sacate havirdāḥ
And among the immortal vows I move, making the Asura-self my body—that is auspicious. Or else Śakra sets the jewel, or with vigor he who joins bestows the oblation.

uta putraḥ pitaraṃ kṣatram īḍe jyeṣṭhaṃ maryādam ahvayants svastaye darśan nu tā varuṇa yās te viṣṭhā āvarvratataḥ kṛṇavo vapūṃṣi
I honor the son for his father, the Kshatra, the eldest; men call on him for well‑being. May we behold, O Varuṇa, those stations of yours; from vows fulfilled you fashion splendid forms.

अ॒र्धम॒र्धेन॒ पय॑सा पृणक्ष्य॒र्धेन॑ शुष्म वर्धसे अमुर । अविं॑ वृधाम श॒ग्मियं॒ सखा॑यं॒ वरु॑णं पु॒त्रमदि॑त्या इषि॒रम्। क॒वि॒श॒स्तान्य॑स्मै॒ वपूं॑ष्यवोचाम॒ रोद॑सी सत्य॒वाचा॑ ॥९॥
ardham ardhen payasā pṛṇakṣy ardhen śuṣma vardhase amura aviṃ vṛdhāma śagmiyaṃ sakhāyaṃ varuṇaṃ putram adityā iṣiram kaviśastāny asmai vapūṃṣy avocāma rodasī satyavācā
You fill half with half the milk; with the other half you grow in vigor, O strong one. Let us exalt the ram, the auspicious friend—Varuṇa, son of Aditi, the mighty. We have spoken his inspired forms to him; Heaven and Earth are true to speech.
