āñjanam ehi jīvaṃ trāyamāṇaṃ parvatasyāsyakṣyam viśvebhir devair dattaṃ paridhir jīvanāya kam
Collyrium: come, living, protecting, the unguent of the mountain, the rock’s essence. A guard given by all the gods, a ring for life—what it is.

paripāṇaṃ puruṣāṇāṃ paripāṇaṃ gavām asi aśvānām arvatāṃ paripāṇāya tasthiṣe
Protector of men, protector of cows you are. For the protection of horses and racers you have been set in place.

utāsi paripāṇaṁ yātujambhanam āñjana | utāmṛtasya tvaṁ vetthātho asi jīvabhojanam atho haritabheṣajam
You are protection, a destroyer of sorcery, O ointment; you know the nectar of immortality, you grant life’s sustenance, and you are the green-hued medicine.

yasyāñjana prasarpasy aṅgam aṅgaṁ paruṣparuḥ | tato yakṣmaṁ vi bādhasa ugro madhyamaśīr iva
O ointment, where you spread limb to limb, pore to pore, from there drive out Yakṣma like a fierce mid-blade cuts through.

nainaṁ prāpnoti śapatho na kṛtyā nābhiśocanam | nainaṁ viṣkandham aśnute yas tvā bibharty āñjana
O ointment, no curse, no witchcraft, no evil scorching reaches him; no wasting disease attacks the one who bears you.

asammantrād duṣvapnyād duṣkṛtāc chamalād uta | durhārdaś cakṣuṣo ghorāt tasmān naḥ pāhy āñjana
From false spells, from bad dreams, from sin and its stain; from hard-heartedness, from the eye’s dread—protect us, O ointment.

idaṁ vidvān āñjana satyaṁ vakṣyāmi nānṛtam | saneyam aśvaṁ gām aham ātmānaṁ tava pūruṣa
Knowing this, O ointment, I speak truth, not falsehood: may I win a horse, a cow, and myself, O man of yours.

त्रयो॑ दा॒सा आञ्ज॑नस्य त॒क्मा ब॒लास॒ आदहिः॑ । वर्षि॑ष्ठः॒ पर्व॑तानां त्रिक॒कुन्नाम॑ ते पि॒ता॥८॥
trayo dāsā āñjanasya takmā balāsa ādahiḥ varṣiṣṭhaḥ parvatānāṃ trikakunnāma te pitā
Three servants of Añjana—Takman, Balāsa, Ādahi—Vṛṣistha among the mountains; Trikakunna is your father.

यदाञ्ज॑नं त्रैककु॒दं जा॒तं हि॒मव॑त॒स्परि॑ । या॒तूंश्च॒ सर्वा॑ञ्ज॒म्भय॒त् सर्वा॑श्च यातुधा॒न्यः ॥९॥
yad āñjanaṃ traikakudaṃ jātaṃ himavatas pari yātūṃś ca sarvān jambhayat sarvāś ca yātudhānyaḥ
When the Añjana-born, the Trikakuda, was brought forth by the Himavat, he struck down all the Yātus and all the Yātudhānas.

यदि॒ वासि॑ त्रैककु॒दं यदि॑ यामु॒नमु॒च्यसे॑ । उ॒भे ते॑ भ॒द्रे॑ नाम्नी॒ ताभ्यां॒ नः पाह्याञ्जन ॥१०॥
yadi vāsi traikakudaṃ yadi yāmunam ucyase ubhe te bhadre nāmnī tābhyāṃ naḥ pāhy añjana
Whether you are the Trikakuda, or are called Yāmuna—both are auspicious names of yours—by these two protect us, O Añjana.
