त्रिष्टुप्, २ जगती, ८ पुरोऽतिशक्वरी पादयुग्जगती। ये पु॒रस्ता॒ज्जुह्व॑ति जातवेदः॒ प्राच्या॑ दि॒शोऽभि॒दास॑न्त्य॒स्मान्। अ॒ग्निमृ॒त्वा ते परा॑ञ्चो व्यथन्तां प्र॒त्यगे॑नान् प्रतिस॒रेण॑ हन्मि ॥१॥
ye purastāj juhvati jātavedas prācyā diśo ’bhidāsanty asmān | agnim ṛtvā te parāñco vyathantāṃ praty agenān pratisareṇa hanmi
Those who to the east offer to Jātavedas and assail us from the eastern quarters—may they, with Agni as the officiant, be driven back; I strike them in return with a counter-charm.

ye dakṣiṇato juhvati jātavedo dakṣiṇāyā diśo ’bhidāsanty asmān | yamam ṛtvā te parāñco vyathantāṃ praty agenān pratisareṇa hanmi
Those who to the south offer to Jātavedas and assail us from the southern quarters—may they, with Yama as the officiant, be driven back; I strike them in return with a counter-charm.

Those who to the west offer to Jātavedas and assail us from the western quarters—may they, with Varuṇa as the officiant, be driven back; I strike them in return with a counter-charm.

Those who to the north offer to Jātavedas and assail us from the northern quarters—may they, with Soma as the officiant, be driven back; I strike them in return with a counter-charm.

ye ’dhas tāj juhvati jātavedo dhruvāyā diśo ’bhidāsanty asmān | bhūmim ṛtvā te parāñco vyathantāṃ praty agenān pritisareṇa hanmi
Those who from below offer to Jātavedas and assail us from the steadfast quarter—may they, with Earth as the officiant, be driven back; I strike them in return with a counter-charm.

ye ’ntarikṣāj juhvati jātavedo vyadhvāyā diśo ’bhidāsanty asmān vāyum ṛtvā te parāñco vyathantāṃ praty agenān pratisareṇa hanmi
Those who offer to Jātavedas from the midspace, who assail us from the directions along the path—may they be driven back by Vāyu as the officiant; I smite them with a counter-charm facing them.

ya upariṣṭāj juhvati jātavedas ūrdhvāyā diśo ’bhidāsanty asmān sūryam ṛtvā te parāñco vyathantāṃ praty agenān pratisareṇa hanmi
Those who offer to Jātavedas from above, who assail us from the upward quarters—may they be driven back by Sūrya as the officiant; I smite them with a counter-charm facing them.

ye diśām antar deśebhyo juhvati jātavedaḥ sarvābhyo digbhyo ’bhidāsanty asmān brahma ṛtvā te parāñco vyathantāṃ praty agenān pratisareṇa hanmi
Those who offer to Jātavedas from the regions and the spaces between regions, who assail us from every direction—may they be driven back by Brahman as the officiant; I smite them with a counter-charm facing them.
