७ त्र्यवसाना षट् पदानुष्टुब्गर्भोपरिष्टज्जागतानिचृच्छक्वरी, ८-१२ अनुष्टुप्। अ॒न॒ड्वान् दा॑धार पृथि॒वीमु॒त द्याम॑न॒ड्वान् दा॑धारो॒र्व१न्तरि॑क्षम्। अ॒न॒ड्वान् दा॑धार प्र॒दिशः॒ षडु॒र्वीर॑न॒ड्वान् विश्वं॒ भुव॑न॒मा वि॑वेश ॥१॥
try-avasānā ṣaṭ padān anuṣṭub-garbha upariṣṭaj jāgatā nicṛc chacrvarī, anuṣṭup. anaḍvān dādhāra pṛthivīm uta dyām anaḍvān dādhārorv antarikṣam. anaḍvān dādhāra pradiśaḥ ṣaḍ urvīr anaḍvān viśvaṃ bhuvanam ā viveśa
The bull-less One upheld the earth and the sky; the bull-less One upheld the wide midspace. The bull-less One upheld the quarters—six broad ones; the bull-less One entered into every world.

अ॒न॒ड्वानिन्द्रः॒ स प॒शुभ्यो॒ वि च॑ष्टे त्र॒यां छ॒क्रो वि मि॑मीते॒ अध्व॑नः । भू॒तं भ॑वि॒ष्यद् भुव॑ना॒ दुहा॑नः॒ सर्वा॑ दे॒वानां॑ चरति व्र॒तानि॑ ॥२॥
anaḍvān indraḥ sa paśubhyo vi caṣṭe trayāṃ cakro vi mimīte adhvanaḥ. bhūtaṃ bhaviṣyad bhuvanā duhānaḥ sarvā devānāṃ carati vratāni
Indra, bull-less, oversees the cattle; the mighty One measures out the three paths. Milking what was and what will be, moving through the vows of all the gods, he goes.

इन्द्रो॑ जा॒तो म॑नु॒ष्येऽष्व॒न्तर्घ॒र्मस्त॒प्तश्च॑रति॒ शोशु॑चानः । सु॒प्र॒जाः सन्त्स उ॑दा॒रे न स॑र्ष॒द्यो नाश्नी॒यादन॒डुहो॑ विजा॒नन्॥३॥
indro jāto manuṣye aśv antar gharmaḥ taptaś carati śośucānaḥ. suprajāḥ sants udāre na sarṣad yo nāśnīyād anaḍuho vijānan
Indra is born among men, within the horse; the heated oblation moves, blazing. Let him, prosperous in offspring, not stumble in the udder; let none who knows the bull-less one consume the unmilked.

अ॒न॒ड्वान् दु॑हे सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒क ऐनं॑ प्याययति॒ पव॑मानः पु॒रस्ता॑त्। प॒र्जन्यो॒ धारा॑ म॒रुत॒ ऊधो॑ अस्य य॒ज्ञः पयो॒ दक्षि॑णा॒ दोहो॑ अस्य ॥४॥
anaḍvān duhe sukṛtasya loka enaṃ pyāyaya ti pavamānaḥ purastāt. parjanyo dhārā maruta ūdho asya yajñaḥ payo dakṣiṇā doho asya
The bull-less One milks out the well-made world; the flowing, purified one in front makes him swell. Parjanya is his streams; the Maruts are his udder; the sacrifice is his milk, the dakṣiṇā his milking.

यस्य॒ नेशे॑ य॒ज्ञप॑ति॒र्न य॒ज्ञो नास्य॑ दा॒तेशे॒ न प्र॑तिग्रही॒ता। यो वि॑श्व॒जिद् वि॑श्व॒भृद् वि॒श्क॑र्मा घ॒र्मं नो॑ ब्रूत यत॒मश्चतु॑ष्पात्॥५॥
yasya neśe yajñapati rna yajño nāsya dāteśe na pratigrahītā. yo viśvajid viśvabhṛd viśkarmā gharmaṃ no brūta yatamaś catuṣpāt
He whose lord of sacrifice cannot control, whose rite none can master, neither giver nor receiver—he, the all-conquering, all-supporting, all-skilled—tell us of the four-footed Gharma.

येन॑ दे॒वाः स्वरारुरु॒हुर्हि॒त्वा शरी॑रम॒मृत॑स्य॒ नाभि॑म्। तेन॑ गेष्म सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒कं घ॒र्मस्य॑ व्र॒तेन॒ तप॑सा यश॒स्यवः॑ ॥६॥
yena devāḥ svar āruruhur hitvā śarīram amṛtasya nābhim tena geṣma sukṛtasya lokaṃ gharmasya vratena tapasā yaśasyavaḥ
By which the Devas ascended to heaven, having cast off the body, to the navel of immortality—by that we shall reach the world of the righteous, famed through the vow of the heat, through austerity.

इन्द्रो॑ रू॒पेणा॒ग्निर्वहे॑न प्र॒जाप॑तिः परमे॒ष्ठी वि॒राट्। वि॒श्वान॑रे अक्रमत वैश्वान॒रे अ॑क्रमतान॒दुह्य॑क्रमत । सोऽदृंहयत॒ सोऽधारयत ॥७॥
indro rūpeṇāgnir vahena prajāpatiḥ parameṣṭhī virāṭ viśvānanare akramata vaiśvānanare akramat anaduhy akramat so ’dṛṃhayat so ’dhārayat
Indra as form, Agni as carrier, Prajāpati, Parameṣṭhī, the Virāj—into Vaiśvānara he stepped; into Vaiśvānara he stepped; into the Milk-giver he stepped. He made it firm; he sustained it.

मध्य॑मे॒तद॑न॒डुहो॒ यत्रै॒ष वह॒ आहि॑तः । ए॒ताव॑दस्य प्रा॒चीनं॒ यावा॑न् प्र॒त्यङ् स॒माहि॑तः ॥८॥
madhyam etad anaḍuho yatraiṣa vaha āhita etāvad asya prācīnaṃ yāvān pratyaṅ samāhitaḥ
In the middle is this of the Milkless-cow, where this Carrier is placed. So far is its eastward, and so far its westward, as it is set together.

यो वेदा॑न॒डुहो॒ दोहा॑न्त्स॒प्तानु॑पदस्वतः । प्र॒जां च॑ लो॒कं चा॑प्नोति॒ तथा॑ सप्तऋ॒षयो॑ विदुः ॥९॥
yo vedānaḍuho dohān saptān upadasvataḥ prajāṃ ca lokaṃ cāpnoti tathā saptarṣayo viduḥ
He who knows the milkings of the Milkless-cow, the seven set step by step, obtains progeny and world; so have the Seven Ṛṣis known.

प॒द्भिः से॒दिम॑व॒क्राम॒न्निरां॒ जङ्घा॑भिरुत्खि॒दन्। श्रमे॑णान॒ड्वान् की॒लालं॑ की॒नाश॑श्चाभि ग॑च्छतः ॥१०॥
padbhiḥ sedim avrāman nirāṃ jaṅghābhir utkHidan śrameṇānaḍvān kīlālaṃ kīnāśaś cābhi gacchataḥ
With feet they go to sit, stepping; they dig out the waters with shanks. By toil the driver of the Milk-cow and the ploughman move on.

द्वाद॑श॒ वा ए॒ता रात्री॒र्व्रत्या॑ आहुः प्र॒जाप॑तेः । तत्रोप॒ ब्रह्म॒ यो वेद॒ तद् वा अ॑न॒डुहो॑ व्र॒तम्॥११॥
Dvādaśa vā etā rātrīr vratyā āhuḥ Prajāpateḥ. Tatro pa brahma yo veda tad vā anaḍuho vratam.
They call these twelve nights the Vrata of Prajāpati. Therein, whoever knows the upa-brahma—this indeed is the vow of the cow that never runs dry.

दु॒हे सा॒यं दु॒हे प्रा॒तर्दु॒हे म॒ध्यंदि॑नं॒ परि॑ । दोहा॒ ये अ॑स्य सं॒यन्ति॒ ता॑न् वि॒द्मानु॑पदस्वतः ॥१२॥
Duhe sāyaṃ duhe prātar duhe madhyandinaṃ pari. Dohā ye asya saṃyanti tān vidmān upadasvataḥ.
She yields milk in the evening, she yields in the morning, she yields about midday. We know those milkings that attend her, step by step without omission.
