ब्रह्मविद्या। ब्रह्म॑ जज्ञा॒नं प्र॑थ॒मं पु॒रस्ता॒द् वि सी॑म॒तः सु॒रुचो॑ वे॒न आवः । स बु॒ध्न्याऽउप॒माअ॑स्य वि॒ष्ठाः स॒तश्च॒ योनि॒मस॑तश्च॒ वि व॑ ॥१॥
brahmavidyā. brahma jajñānaṃ prathamaṃ purastād vi sīmataḥ suruco vena āvaḥ. sa budhnyā upamāsya viṣṭhāḥ sataś ca yonim asataś ca vi var.
Brahmavidyā. Brahman was born first in the beginning; from the horizon the fair-shining Vena revealed it. He, founded in the deep and the supreme measure, established the womb of being and of non-being.

इ॒यं पित्र्या॒ राष्ट्र्ये॒त्वग्रे॑ प्रथ॒माय॑ ज॒नुषे॑ भुवने॒ष्ठाः । तस्मा॑ ए॒तं सु॒रुचं॑ ह्वा॒रम॑ह्यं घ॒र्मं श्री॑णन्तु प्रथ॒माय॑ धा॒स्यवे॑ ॥२॥
iyaṃ pitryā rāṣṭry etv agre prathamāya januṣe bhuvaneṣṭhāḥ tasmā etam surucaṃ hvāram ahyaṃ gharmaṃ śrīṇantu prathamāya dhāsyave
This ancestral, sovereign rite stood at the forefront, at the first birth, established among beings. For that first establishment, let them prepare this well-shining, worthy Gharma for the radiant gift.

प्र यो ज॒ज्ञे वि॒द्वान॑स्य॒ बन्धु॒र्विश्वा॑ दे॒वानां॒ जनि॑मा विवक्ति । ब्रह्म॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒ उज्ज॑भार॒ मध्या॑न्नी॒चैरु॒च्चै स्व॒धा अ॒भि प्र त॑स्थौ ॥३॥
pra yo jajñe vidvānasya bandhur viśvā devānāṃ janimā vivakti brahma brahmaṇa ujjabhāra madhyān nīcair uccaiḥ svadhā abhi prati tasthau
He who was born, the kinsman of the wise, declares the births of all the Devas. Brahman raised the Brahman from the midst, and, lower and higher, with its own power he advanced all around.

स हि दि॒वः स पृ॑थि॒व्या ऋ॑त॒स्था म॒ही क्षेमं॒ रोद॑सी अस्कभायत्। म॒हान् म॒ही अस्क॑भाय॒द् वि जा॒तो द्यां सद्म॒ पार्थि॑वं च॒ रज॑ ॥४॥
sa hi divaḥ sa pṛthivyā ṛtasthā mahī kṣemaṃ rodasī askabhāyat mahān mahī askabhāyad vi jāto dyāṃ sadma pārthivaṃ ca rajaḥ
He, standing in cosmic order, upheld heaven and earth; the great one made the two vast worlds secure. Born mighty and vast, he propped the sky, the celestial seat, and the earthly realm and mid-space.

स बु॒ध्न्यादा॑ष्ट्र ज॒नुषो॒ऽभ्यग्रं बृह॒स्पति॑र्दे॒वता॒ तस्य॑ स॒म्राट्। अह॒र्यच्छुक्रं ज्योति॑षो॒ जनि॒ष्टाथ॑ द्यु॒मन्तो॒ वि व॑सन्तु॒ विप्रा॑ ॥५॥
sa budhnyād āṣṭra januṣo ’bhyagraṃ bṛhaspatir devatā tasya samrāṭ aharyac chukraṃ jyotiṣo janiṣṭātha dyumanto vi vasantu viprāḥ
From the deep foundation up to the foremost birth, Bṛhaspati, the deity, is the sovereign of that. Day by day the bright light was born; then let the inspired seers shine forth in radiance.

नू॒नं तद॑स्य का॒व्यो॑ हि॑नोति म॒हो दे॒वस्य॑ पू॒र्व्यस्य॒ धाम॑ । ए॒ष ज॑ज्ञे ब॒हुभि॑ सा॒कमि॒त्था पूर्वे॒ अर्धे॒ विषि॑ते स॒सन्नु॥६॥
nūnaṃ tadasya kāvyo hinoti maho devasya pūrvyasya dhāma eṣa jajñe bahubhi sākam itthā pūrve ardhe viṣite sasannu
Surely his inspired power urges on the ancient abode of the great God. He is born thus with many together; seated, they were apportioned in the former half.

योऽथ॑र्वाणं पि॒तरं॑ दे॒वब॑न्धुं॒ बृह॒स्पतिं॒ नम॒साव॑ च॒ गछा॑त्। त्वं विश्वे॑षां जनि॒ता यथास॑ क॒विर्दे॒वो न दभा॑यत् स्व॒धावा॑न्॥७॥
yo ’tharvāṇaṃ pitaraṃ devabandhuṃ br̥haspatiṃ namasāva ca gachāt. tvaṃ viśveṣāṃ janitā yathāsaḥ kavir devo na dabhāyat svadhāvān.
Let Atharvan, the forefather, Br̥haspati, kinsman of the gods, be reached with reverent homage. You are, as is fitting, the begetter of all, the divine sage, self-lord, not to be overcome.
