१-१३ अथर्वा। अष्टका, धेनुः, २-४ रात्रिः, धेनुः, ५ एकाष्टका, ६ जातवेदाः, पशवः, ७ रात्रिः, यज्ञ ८ संवत्सरः, ९ ऋतवः, १० धाता विधातारौ, ऋतवः, ११ देवाः, १२ इन्द्रः, देवाः, १३ प्रजापतिः। अनुष्टुप्, ४-६,१२ त्रिष्टुप् ७ त्र्यवसाना षट्पदा विराड् गर्भातिजगती। प्र॒थ॒मा ह॒ व्युऽवास॒ सा धे॒नुर॑भवद् य॒मे। सा नः॒ पय॑स्वती दुहा॒मुत्त॑रामुत्तरां॒ समा॑म्॥१॥
prathamā ha vyuvāsa sā dhenur abhavad yame | sā naḥ payasvatī duhām uttarām uttarāṃ samām ||
On the first night she awoke; she became the Cow of Yama. May that milk-rich one milk for us year after year, ever higher.

यां दे॒वाः प्र॑ति॒नन्द॑न्ति॒ रात्रिं॑ धे॒नुमु॑पाय॒तीम्। सं॒व॒त्स॒रस्य॒ या पत्नी॒ सा नो॑ अस्तु सुमङ्ग॒ली॥२॥
yāṁ devāḥ pratinandanti rātriṁ dhenum upāyatīm saṁvatsarasya yā patnī sā no astu sumaṅgalī
May that Night whom the gods welcome, who comes to us like a cow yielding milk, the consort of the Year, be auspicious for us.

saṁvatsarasya pratimāṁ yāṁ tvā rātry upāsmahe sā na āyuṣmatīṁ prajāṁ rāy aspoṣeṇa saṁ sṛja
O Night, image of the Year, whom we adore—you, join for us long life, offspring, and prosperity of wealth.

इ॒यमे॒व सा या प्र॑थ॒मा व्यौच्छ॑दा॒स्वित॑रासु चरति॒ प्रवि॑ष्टा । म॒हान्तो॑ अस्यां महि॒मानो॑ अ॒न्तर्व॒धूर्जि॑गाय नव॒गज्जनि॑त्री ॥४॥
iyam eva sā yā prathamā vyaucchadāsv itarāsu carati praviṣṭā mahānto asyāṁ mahimāno antar vadhūr jigāya navagajjanitrī
This indeed is she who first dawned, moving among the others, entering within; within her are great majesties; the bride sang, the nine-birth mother.

वा॒न॒स्प॒त्या ग्रावा॑णो॒ घोष॑मक्रत ह॒विष्कृ॒ण्वन्तः॑ परिवत्स॒रीण॑म्। एका॑ष्टके सुप्र॒जसः॑ सु॒वीरा॑ व॒यं स्या॑म॒ पत॑यो रयी॒णाम्॥५॥
vānaspatyā gravāṇo ghoṣam akrata haviṣ kṛṇvantaḥ parivatsarīṇam ekāṣṭake su-prajasāḥ suvīrā vayaṁ syāma patayo rayīṇām
With woodland stones the pressers made resound, offering oblations through the year. On the Ekāṣṭakā may we be blessed with fine offspring and heroes, lords of riches.

इडा॑यास्प॒दं घृ॒तव॑त् सरीसृ॒पं जात॑वेदः॒ प्रति॑ ह॒व्या गृ॑भाय । ये ग्रा॒म्याः प॒शवो॑ वि॒श्वरू॑पा॒स्तेषां सप्ता॒नां मयि॒ रन्ति॑रस्तु ॥६॥
iḍāyāspadaṁ ghṛtavat sarīsṛpaṁ jātavedaḥ prati havyā gṛbhāya ye grāmyāḥ paśavo viśvarūpās teṣāṁ saptānāṁ mayi rantir astu
O Jātavedas, to the buttered seat of Iḍā, to the creeping oblation, seize the offerings. Of the village-dwelling cattle of every form, of their seven, may there be delight in me.

आ मा॑ पु॒ष्टे च॒ पोषे॑ च॒ रात्रि॑ दे॒वानां॑ सुम॒तौ स्या॑म । पू॒र्णा द॑र्वे॒ परा॑ पत॒ सुपू॑र्णा॒ पुन॒रा प॑त । सर्वान् य॒ज्ञान्त्सं॑भुञ्ज॒तीषमूर्जं॑ न॒ आ भ॑र ॥७॥
ā mā puṣṭe ca poṣe ca rātri devānāṃ sumatau syāma | pūrṇā darve parā pata supūrṇā punar ā pata | sarvān yajñān saṃbhuñjatī ṣam ūrjaṃ na ā bhara
May we be in the gracious favor of the gods, in fullness and increase night and day. Let the ladle fall down full, and rise up well filled again. Enjoy all the sacrifices together, and bring us food and strength.

आयम॑गन्त्संवत्स॒रः पति॑रेकाष्टके॒ तव॑ । सा न॒ आयु॑ष्मतीं प्र॒जां रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ सं सृ॑ज ॥८॥
āyam agant saṃvatsaraḥ patir ekāṣṭake tava | sā na āyuṣmatīṃ prajāṃ rāyaspoṣeṇa saṃ sṛja
This Samvatsara has come, the lord on your eighth day. May she bring forth for us long-lived progeny with abundant wealth and increase.

ऋ॒तून् य॑ज ऋतु॒पती॑नार्त॒वानु॒त हा॑य॒नान्। समाः॑ संवत्स॒रान् मासा॑न् भू॒तस्य॒ पत॑ये यजे ॥९॥
ṛtūn yaja ṛtupatīn ārtavān uta hāyanān | samāḥ saṃvatsarān māsān bhūtasya pataye yaje
Offer to the seasons, to the lords of seasons, to the season-bearers, and to the yearly cycles; to the years, to the Samvatsaras, to the months—offer to the Lord of beings.

ṛtubhyaṣ ṭv ārtavebhyo mādbhyaḥ saṃvatsarebhyaḥ | dhātre vidhātre samṛdhe bhūtasya pataye yaje
To the seasons, to the season-times, to the months, to the Samvatsaras; to the Supporter, the Disposer, the Prosperer—I offer to the Lord of beings.

इड॑या॒ जुह्व॑तो व॒यं दे॒वान् घृ॒तव॑ता यजे । गृ॒हानलु॑भ्यतो व॒यं सं वि॑शे॒मोप॒ गोम॑तः ॥११॥
iḍayā juhvato vayaṃ devān ghṛtavatā yaje | gṛhān alubhyato vayaṃ saṃ viśemopa gomatāḥ
With Iḍā we offer, we worship the gods with ghee. May we enter homes free from greed, rich in cattle.

ए॒का॒ष्ट॒का तप॑सा त॒प्यमा॑ना ज॒जान॒ गर्भं॑ महि॒मान॒मिन्द्र॑म्। तेन॑ दे॒वा व्यऽसहन्त॒ शत्रू॑न् ह॒न्ता दस्यू॑नामभव॒च्छची॒पतिः॑ ॥१२॥
ekāṣṭakā tapasā tapyamānā jajāna garbhaṃ mahimānam indram. tena devā vy asahanta śatrūn hantā dasyūnām abhavac chacīpatiḥ.
The Ekaṣṭakā, burning with tapas, brought forth the mighty embryo Indra. With him the gods overpowered their foes; the lord of Śacī became the slayer of the Dasyus.

इन्द्र॑पुत्रे॒ सोम॑पुत्रे दुहि॒तासि॑ प्र॒जाप॑तेः । कामा॑न॒स्माकं॑ पूरय॒ प्रति॑ गृह्णाहि नो ह॒विः ॥१३॥
indraputre somaputre duhitāsi prajāpateḥ. kāmān asmākaṃ pūraya prati gṛhṇāhi no haviḥ.
Daughter of Prajāpati, child of Indra, child of Soma—fulfill our desires; accept our oblation.
