Atharvaveda (Shaunaka Samhita) · Chapter Kanda 2 · Verse 2.28.1
tubhyam eva jariman vardhatām ayaṃ me mānye mṛtyavo hiṃsiṣuḥ śataṃ ye māteva putraṃ pramanā upasthe mitra enaṃ mitriyāt pātvaṃhasaḥ
May this one thrive for you alone, old man; let other deaths who sought to harm him by the hundred be thwarted. As a mother in her lap tends her child, may Mitra, as a friend, protect him from sin.
Atharvaveda — Kanda 2, Sukta 28, Mantra 2 (दीर्घायुःप्राप्तिः।)
Atharvaveda (Shaunaka Samhita) · Chapter Kanda 2 · Verse 2.28.2
mitra enaṃ varuṇo vā riśādā jarāmṛtyuṃ kṛṇutāṃ saṃvidānau tad agnir hotā vayunāni vidvān viśvā devānāṃ janimā vivakti
Let Mitra or Varuṇa, the sin-destroyers, appoint old age and not death for him, in mutual accord. Then Agni, the Hotṛ, knowing the rites, declares the births of all the gods.
Atharvaveda — Kanda 2, Sukta 28, Mantra 3 (दीर्घायुःप्राप्तिः।)
Atharvaveda (Shaunaka Samhita) · Chapter Kanda 2 · Verse 2.28.3
tvam īśiṣe paśūnāṃ pārthivānāṃ ye jātā uta vā ye janitrāḥ me māṃ prāṇo hāsīn mo apāno me māṃ mitrā vadhiṣur mo amitrāḥ
You rule the herds of earth, both those born and those yet to be. Let not my life-breath depart; let not my down-breath go. Let friends not slay me; let not foes.
Atharvaveda — Kanda 2, Sukta 28, Mantra 4 (दीर्घायुःप्राप्तिः।)
Atharvaveda (Shaunaka Samhita) · Chapter Kanda 2 · Verse 2.28.4
dyauṣ ṭvā pitā pṛthivī mātā jarāmṛtyuṃ kṛṇutāṃ saṃvidāne yathā jīvā aditer upasthe prāṇāpānābhyāṃ gupitaḥ śataṃ himāḥ
May Dyauḥ as father and Pṛthivī as mother, in mutual accord, ward off old age and death. As one living sheltered in Aditi’s lap, guarded by prāṇa and apāna, may he complete a hundred winters.
Atharvaveda — Kanda 2, Sukta 28, Mantra 5 (दीर्घायुःप्राप्तिः।)
Atharvaveda (Shaunaka Samhita) · Chapter Kanda 2 · Verse 2.28.5
imam agne āyuṣe varcase naya priyaṃ reto varuṇa mitrarājan mātevāsmā adite śarma yaccha viśve devā jaradaṣṭir yathāsat
Agni, lead this dear seed for long life and brilliance; Varuṇa, Mitra, O king, and Aditi, like a mother, grant him shelter. May all the gods make the devourer of old age thus be as nothing.
