१-८ भरद्वाजः। १ द्यावापृथिवी, अन्तरिक्षम्, २ देवाः, ३ इन्द्रः, ४ आदित्या वसवोऽङ्गिरसः पितरः, ५ सोम्यासः पितरः, ६ मरुतः, ७ यमसादनम्, ब्रह्म, ८ अग्निः। त्रिष्टुप्, २ जगती, ७-८ अनुष्टुप्। द्यावा॑पृथिवी उ॒र्व॑१न्त॑रिक्षं॒ क्षेत्र॑स्य॒ पत्न्यु॑रुगा॒योऽद्भु॑तः । उ॒तान्तरिक्ष॑मु॒रु वात॑गोपं॒ त इ॒ह त॑प्यन्तां॒ मयि॑ त॒प्यमा॑ने ॥१॥
dyāvā-pṛthivī urv antarikṣaṁ kṣetrasya patnyurugāyo ’dbhutaḥ utāntarikṣam uru vātagopaṁ ta iha tapyantāṁ mayi tapyamāne
Dyāvā and Pṛthivī, the wide midspace, the wondrous lordly fields, and the far-sounding expanse—let them here grow hot while I am being kindled. And let the midspace, broad and guarded by the Wind, here be enflamed as I am enflamed.

इ॒दं दे॑वाः शृणुत॒ ये य॒ज्ञिया॒ स्थ भ॒रद्वा॑जो॒ मह्य॑मु॒क्थानि॑ शंसति । पाशे॒ स ब॒द्धो दु॑रि॒ते नि यु॑ज्यतां॒ यो अ॒स्माकं॒ मन॑ इ॒दं हि॒नस्ति॑ ॥२॥
idaṁ devāḥ śṛṇuta ye yajñiyā stha bharadvājo mahyam ukthāni śaṁsati pāśe sa baddho durite ni yujyatāṁ yo asmākaṁ mana idaṁ hinasti
Hear this, O gods who are worthy of sacrifice: Bharadvāja proclaims the hymns for me. Let him who harms our mind be bound with a snare and yoked to misfortune.

इ॒दमि॑न्द्र शृणुहि सोमप॒ यत् त्वा॑ हृ॒दा शोच॑ता॒ जोह॑वीमि । वृ॒श्चामि॒ तं कुलि॑शेनेव वृ॒क्षं यो अ॒स्माकं॒ मन॑ इ॒दं हि॒नस्ति॑ ॥३॥
idam indra śṛṇuhi somapa yat tvā hṛdā śocathā johavīmi vṛścāmi taṁ kuliśeneva vṛkṣaṁ yo asmākaṁ mana idaṁ hinasti
Hear this, O Indra, Soma-drinker: with a burning heart I call to you. I will hack him down like a tree with the vajra—whoever harms our mind.

अ॒शी॒तिभि॑स्ति॒सृभिः॑ साम॒गेभि॑रादि॒त्येभि॒र्वसु॑भि॒रङ्गि॑रोभिः । इ॒ष्टा॒पू॒र्तम॑वतु नः पितॄ॒णामामुं द॑दे॒ हर॑सा॒ दैव्ये॑न ॥४॥
aśītibhis tisṛbhiḥ sāmagebhir ādityebhir vasubhir aṅgirobhiḥ iṣṭāpūrtam avatu naḥ pitr̥ṇām āmuṁ dade harasā daivyenā
With the eighty and the three singers of Sāman, with the Ādityas, the Vasus, and the Aṅgiras—may the duly offered and the well-accomplished works of our Fathers protect us. I have bestowed that with divine fervor.

द्यावा॑पृथिवी॒ अनु॒ मा दी॑धीथां॒ विश्वे॑ देवासो॒ अनु॒ मा र॑भध्वम्। अङ्गि॑रसः॒ पित॑रः॒ सोम्या॑सः पा॒पमार्छ॑त्वपका॒मस्य॑ क॒र्ता॥५॥
dyāvā-pṛthivī anu mā dīdhīthāṁ viśve devāso anu mā rabhadhvam | aṅgirasaḥ pitaraḥ somyāsaḥ pāpam ārchatu apakāmasya kartā ||
May Dyāvā-Pṛthivī look upon me kindly; may all the Devas support me. May the Soma-filled Aṅgirasa ancestors ward off sin; may the maker of ill-will meet his aim’s downfall.

अती॑व॒ यो म॑रुतो॒ मन्य॑ते नो॒ ब्रह्म॑ वा॒ यो निन्दि॑षत् क्रि॒यमा॑णम्। तपूं॑षि॒ तस्मै॑ वृजि॒नानि॑ सन्तु ब्रह्म॒द्विषं॒ द्यौर॑भि॒संत॑पाति ॥६॥
atīva yo maruto manyate no brahma vā yo nindiṣat kriyamāṇam | tapūṁṣi tasmai vṛjināni santu brahmadviṣaṁ dyaur abhisantapāti ||
Whoever, O Maruts, waxes overbearing against us, or reviles the rite being performed—on him be scorching penances and calamities; the sky itself burns the hater of Brahman.

स॒प्त प्रा॒णान॒ष्टौ म॒न्यस्तांस्ते॑ वृश्चामि॒ ब्रह्म॑णा । अया॑ य॒मस्य॒ साद॑नम॒ग्निदू॑तो॒ अरं॑कृतः ॥७॥
sapta prāṇān aṣṭau manyas tāṁs te vṛścāmi brahmaṇā | ayā yamasya sādanam agnidūto araṁkṛtaḥ ||
He thinks there are seven breaths and eight besides—those I cut off by Brahman. With this, the messenger of Agni has prepared the seat of Yama for him.

आ द॑धामि ते प॒दं समि॑द्धे जा॒तवे॑दसि । अ॒ग्निः शरी॑रं वेवे॒ष्ट्वसुं॒ वागपि॑ गछतु ॥८॥
ā dadhāmi te padaṁ samiddhe jātavedasi | agniḥ śarīraṁ veveṣṭv asuṁ vāg api gacchatu ||
I set your step in the kindled Jātavedas. Let Agni enwreathe the body; let the vital essence, the voice, depart.
