येऽमावा॒स्यां॒३ रात्रि॑मु॒दस्थु॑र्व्रा॒जम॒त्त्रिणः॑ । अ॒ग्निस्तु॒रीयो॑ यातु॒हा सो अ॒स्मभ्य॒मधि॑ ब्रवत्॥१॥
ye ’māvāsyāṁ rātrim udasthur vrājam attriṇaḥ agnis turīyo yātuhā so asmabhyam adhi bravat
On Amāvāsyā night the flesh-eating fiends set out in a troop; Agni, the fourth, a banisher of sorcery—may he speak in our favor.

सीसा॒याध्या॑ह॒ वरु॑णः॒ सीसा॑या॒ग्निरुपा॑वति । सीसं॑ म॒ इन्द्रः॒ प्राय॑च्छ॒त् तद॒ङ्ग या॑तु॒चात॑नम्॥२॥
sīsāyā dhyāha varuṇaḥ sīsāyāgnir upāvati sīsaṁ ma indraḥ prāyacchat tad aṅga yātucātanam
Let Varuṇa bind with lead; let Agni approach with lead. May Indra give me lead—let that be a bane to sorcery.

इ॒दं विष्क॑न्धं सहत इ॒दं बा॑धते अ॒त्त्रिणः॑ । अ॒नेन॒ विश्वा॑ ससहे॒ या जा॒तानि॑ पिशा॒च्याः ॥३॥
idaṁ viṣkandhaṁ sahata idaṁ bādhate attriṇaḥ anena viśvā sasahé yā jātāni piśācyaḥ
This overcomes the offshoot; this drives away the flesh-eaters. With this I have withstood all the creations of the Piśācas.

यदि॑ नो॒ गां हंसि॒ यद्यश्वं॒ यदि॒ पूरु॑षम्। तं त्वा॒ सीसे॑न विध्यामो॒ यथा॒ नोऽसो॒ अवी॑रहा ॥४॥
yadi no gāṃ haṃsi yady aśvaṃ yadi pūruṣam taṃ tvā sīśena vidhyāmo yathā no ’so avīrahā
If you strike our cow, or our horse, or a man, then with molten lead we shall pierce you, so that we may not be left without men.
